Hi all, can anyone recommend a great place to get Sushi locally (a restaurant or place where you can dine in). After the closing of AONE in Peckham we need an alternative… hoping to find somewhere to celebrate my son’s bday. Thank you!

How long will it take Thames Water to sort out the small river flowing down Lordship Lane from around North Cross Road towards Goose Green?
Get ready for some serious road works and disruption.

So today after over a year of emailing to get the vandalised noticeboards repaired I emailed our local councillor Charlie Smith only to be told the board will now just have info about food banks, from tenant associations and other not for profit organisations...

Be wary - just witnessed a man on a bike steal a young ladies phone from the bus stop outside M&S on Lordship Lane at about 6pm this evening. He cycled off down North Cross Road.

christmas trees on the street
Does anyone have any information on whether the christmas trees that have been left out on the streets will be collected by the council?  They're starting to obstruct the pavements......

Wagtails on Lordship Lane
Just up from the co-op, going towards Goose Green, a wagtail bird was flitting about on the pavement. It wasn’t worried about people walking along and then another one joined it and both flew over to a cake shop pecking at crumbs.

Never seen one before and was nice to observe.

Street trees: when is it time to call time ?
Just walked back from DV to Lordship Lane and wandered through the estate on EDG.  There's a tree surgeon pruning the trees there (council funded for sure) and it just seems a bit bizarre as the stumps that are left are far from attractive. I would that thought that replacement was what was really needed here. Appreciate that funds are tight but really is there not a better option ?

Went to get a few bits in the dog kennel hill Sainsburys this morning and something that has been £1.15 for ages has suddenly gone up to £1.45! Tin of Sainsburys anchovy fillets. Looks like price rises are on the way!

Thames Water are sorting out a burst water main that flooded some local flats over the holiday.

They've dug up the junction of Crystal Palace Road and Upland Road outside the old police station.

Expect that junction to be closed till the end of the week.

Good morning everyone,

I wanted to share a crowdfunder link - funds to go to Akif Mushtaq's family - https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/akif-mushtaq-rip---fundraising-for-his-family

I have personally lived in the area for almost 25 years now and have known the brothers who run the dry cleaners for almost that long.

As some of you may be aware, very tragically Akif - of East Dulwich Dry Cleaners (family business on Lordship Lane near the post office) - was horrifically killed by a dangerous dog a few weeks ago.

https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/dulwich/dulwich-in-shock-after-owner-of-lovely-family-business-dies-in-tragic-dog-attack/

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c7ve32ejqp1o

It was a huge shock for me so I just cannot comprehend what his family are feeling right now. Akif had young children who will be left without a father. He was such a lovely man, always smiling and good humoured - joking about how good his wife's cooking was and how he had gained some weight. We always had a laugh and he was never in a bad mood whenever I popped in.

As it was so sudden and shocking, I think the main thing that the family may need is financial help to get cover whilst they keep the business open but also take some time off to grieve.

As a gesture of support I wanted to set up a Crowdfunder, so if anyone would like to donate it is here:

Please spread the word to anyone who uses the business or who knows the Mushtaq family.

Very best wishes

Weird shapes in the sky Dulwich Village
Did anyone see weird lights in Dulwich Village approx 45 minutes ago? They were at the junction of Woodwarde and Calton Avenue.

They moved like bubbles but the close up photos look even stranger. Will try to upload some here.

No idea what it was, wondering if it could be a drone?

Dynamic Wines up on Lordship Lane opposite the cinema now open. Looks really lovely inside.  A little bit of seating with free corkage. Bargain.

There is an intermittent deep sound hum noise (last a few seconds) every 10 minutes or so, in the Camberwell Grove / Grove Hill / DKH area.  Audible at night.

Does anyone know where it is coming from, or what’s causing it? Thought it might be rail works but its regularity seems unlikely.

Is this a scam?! Keylock safe appears to be installed in my house out of nowhere

I live in Landcroft Rd. I came back from work yesterday and someone had installed a new keylock safe outside my door? (you can see the dust on the floor, newly installed)

I own our house and we have not ordered this. I've asked the neighbours and it wasnt them either.

I called the company and they said they dont do installations. What should I do?

The scene this morning, as a driver smacked their BMW dead on into a traffic light outside a primary school during rush hour. 20mph zone, as you can tell...

Traffic light destroyed, P4 service blocked in both directions, southbound traffic closed...

In 2022, Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng delivered what was seen as a disastrous budget by the markets and it is claimed they crashed the economy.

Rachel Reeves appears to be going after farmers, Pensioners, pension pots and increasing NI for employers, which whilst not taxing "working people" will see prices going up to cover the costs for already squeezed businesses, all this whilst changing how the government fiscal rules work.

The change of administration in the States may impact our exports to them (potential tarrifs) which also may see growth stall slightly.

Will her gamble work or will we as individuals and a nation see stagnation in growth as businesses reduce investment whilst prices go up.

With the farmers protest planned on Tuesday 19th, it is starting to feel like the bad old days of the winter of discontent (1978/79) again.

Whilst investment is needed to help the country grow, are we in danger of not supporting the businesses and people who normally are responsible for growth?

Discuss.

Just back from a swim at Dulwich Leisure Centre.  Whilst in the pool, we saw the lobby outside the family changing room being washed,  The person doing the cleaning then washed the mats taken from the family changing room and then put them in the pool, laying them on the steps!!!.  Not only was this dangerous - they were laid on the top step in such a way that they overlapped the step -  when we got out  there was a load of grit on the top step where they were taken out.
