  1. OMG giggirl, I have two fantastic Bravissimo LBDs. One wrap around and this one, but in black (although i love it so much I'm thinking of getting the purple and the red... http://www.bravissimo.com/images/products/medium/bp13plb_mp.jpg (worn at SeanMac's birthday party and recieved many compliments - admittedly mostly from a somewhat tipsy Jah Lush, but still...) Bravissimo is life changing, isn't it?
  2. Yes, although we've never talked about it in detail, I had a feeling we came from the same sort of starting point on religion. And like you I would normally defend anyone's right to believe, but some of the views expressed here have reminded very strongly of the reasons I satrted to doubt, and eventually left, the church.

    Oh my (2)

No. I was at London Bridge yesterday and didn't notice! Tell me more.....
  4. What Keef said. I'm a very fence-sitting, wishy-washy, former CofE, agnostic, but this debate has pushed me further from christianity than I have ever felt before. Well done Bizzy.
  5. In solidarity with giggirl, and because dresses are important, and because I fit most female sterotypes and don't care at all about cars or football, and can't read maps without getting into them, and can't park, and can't throw or catch at all, and can't reliably tell my left from my right, I'm going to take the question seriously and respond. My favourite ever dress is my wedding dress, for obvious reasons. But my favourite normal dress is a trusted LBD that always looks fabulous and never lets me down. It's a very clever layered empire line that floats over the dodgy upper arm area, shows off the clevage and then subtly emphasises the waist. It's perfectly demure, but totally sexy. When I tried it on, just before Christmas a few years ago, three other women were also trying on party dresses while their husbands waited patiently (it was in the lovely Hobbs on South Molton street that has the sports sections laid out on sofas for the men outside the changing rooms. Three of us all came out of the changing rooms at the same time in this dress. We were all completely different shapes and sizes, yet all looked fantastic in it. There was a moment of stunned silence then the husband who's wife had a different dress on said "I want to see my wife in that dress!" It's a great dress.
  6. You've barely finished saying how the forums too flirty, now you're making moves on Keef. Make your mind up MacGabhann...
  7. Thanks OutofFocus! I have to say you've surpassed yourself this time. Not just the obligatory shot where I look like my granny, but possbily the weirdest photo of myself I've ever seen....
  8. I had a girls lunch there today with another forumite and it was lovely. Good, simple, well cooked, well seasoned, chunky sandwiches and crispy thin chips. The only downside was that we were the only people in there. I didn't think I could love this pub any more than I already did, but I do. I'll definitely be back for brunch soon.
  9. Well said Dulwichmum. When I fist started going out with MrJ he was a nusrse (so Quids, I have experience of romancing a nurse too and I can tell you mine fits very few sterotypes(although I did also assume you to be joking in your early posts and wasn't offended!))and I was amazed by the bizarre attitudes we encountered. I was told, among other things, that I was obviously just roughing it til I married a nice doctor, that I should be with someone "more middle class" than a nurse, that we were "the wrong way round" and that I was obviously just trying to shock my parents. People certainly have some very strange perceptions of nurses. As to the orginal question. Hundreds.
  10. Randy Edelman. My dad loves him. Weirdly, the only other person I know who owns anything by him is MrJ. Apparently these days he writes music for films, or at least that's MrJ's excuse.
  11. Sorry, it was cheeky wasn't it. :-$ No offence meant.
  12. I won't be at this one. I used up all my swapping credit for last week and just can't get out of the Friday night late shift this time. :'( Have fun.
  13. An Onion Bhaji fix? Given the name of your other half, that could have all kinds of connotations Ally ;-)
  14. Outoffocus normally adds the pictures to the thread, Gen. How quickly depends on how busy he is, sometimes terrifyingly fast, so you're still handling the hangover when you have to deal with the reality of how you really looked compared with how you thought you looked (speaking for myself there you understand, not implying you looked anything but fabulous) and sometimes after a few days. If there are any you're not keen on you just PM him and he's happy to make them disappear.
  15. RosieH, how horrible for you and your mum, I'm gald she's ok. I can imagine you must have very mixed feelings at the moment, pride, relief, fear and fury to name just a few, but with time I'm sure both you and your mum will recover from the shock. Take the opportunity to tell her that you love her and give her a big hug.
  16. Nothing to fear Annasfield, you were charming as always (especially to ????...) Sean, I only suggested (when you sent my glass of red wine up in the air, down tillie's back and crashing to the floor) that you might be a little tipsier than usual... I had a lovely time last night. The hightlight, obviously, was meeting ????, but great to meet new faces (don't ask me to list names. They've gone) and catch-up for a gossip with the regulars (although suggesting that Moos, Bellenden Belle and I were cackling like witches in the corner was being a little unkind (Carnell)) and I'm very glad I managed to wangle my way out of working last night to be there. Right, now, better get on with organising that sabre duel (in custard. Wearing nappies!?) on Peckham Rye between Carnell and BN5 that the artist formerly know as Chav was so keen on....
  17. Happy Birthday Jaws! See you later x
  18. Sorry Raquel (and saint MacGabhann) that was a bit snappy wasn't it. Those jokes just really annoy me. I don't bite in person though, I'll buy you a dink tomorrow to make up.. :-$
  19. *sigh* I have to disagree. Tedious, juvenille, sexist nonsense that's really not funny and certainly not clever. This is the kind of thing I delete people from my address book for sending me.
  20. PGC, in my line of work, bunking off to go down the pub is frowned upon. No idea why...
  21. Does anyone know how late the Phoenix stays open?
  22. Oh. For a minute there I was really excited. I always sing along to that one. :-$
  23. Did you really write "Mmmm Danone" *bob*? That's one of my favourites.
  24. Oh dear, quids. A very poor attempt to get a fight going. Lazy, obvious and not up to your usual standard at all. You'll have to do better than that.
  25. It would certainly explain why Quids teases us every month, but never actually makes it to the forum drinks....
