ps. I shall be even less flattered if Quids has us in mind for the needy, overwieght, overly cheerful yet slightly brittle, divorcee who makes everyone dress up, because there always is one....

I'll be there. Not sure about MrJ yet... -
I know. Whilst it is flattering to be grouped with you, Moos, nothing boost the self esteem like knowing you are essentially interchangable with anyone you share a few basic characteristics with, does it?
-
Very kind of you Moos, but everyone knows I never have anything of note to talk about. ;-)

*bob* if the whole thing is a joke and a wind up then the PM she sent me was certianly taking the joke too far.

In addition to the post above I have just had a PM from Lousia make it clear that she is not a persona, but that she truely believes the things she posts. Louisa, I'm sorry you didn't like being discussed on here, but I stand by my opinions. I'm sorry I called you a troll and said you were trying to get a rise, I shall take your word for it that you're not.
-
I accept that she's trying to get a rise and I'm giving her that, but I'm actually not sure she's a character. I have never been totally convinced that she's not real, sometimes it's just too personal, or maybe that's just that she's really good at it. I don't know, or care really, most of the time I'm completely indifferent to her, but today it got to me. Don't know why really, maybe because I'm tired and fed up, but it's no fun and I'm going to go back to scrolling down without reading her posts.

I thought you might be the person to pick me up on that post Keef, but I don't think I was being that harsh. My point is that her opinion on class is so inconsistent. If, like you, she said that the class system was outdated and irrelevant, I'd respsect that and I don't disgree. Or if, like John Prescot, she stuck rigidly to old class definitions and boundaries, I'd disagree, but accept it as her opinion. To me though, it seems like she jumps from one to the other depending on what suits her at the time. But what really annoys me is her constantly judging and defining people as one class or another based nonsense like their food preferences. I know she's a troll, and I shouldn't rise, but I hate being defined and pigeon-holed, particularly by someone who comes across as so conflicted in her own identity.

Stop picking daffodils from GG and Peckham Rye Park!!

180176, click on Louisa's name in blue and read a few of her old posts before you decide if you should rise to it or not. I'd generally say no, you won't get anywhere, but it's very tempting and we all give in sometimes. -
There are many things about Louisa's opinions that I find bizarre, baffling and inconsistent, not to mention irritating, but the strangest is her conflicted attitude to class. The way she makes every debate about class, the things she chooses to define as "middle class" and her utter contempt for them, set against her claim that she hate the class system and wishes to escape it, all whilst clearly living what most people would define as a middle class lifestyle. Only my opinion, obviously, but I think to say she has issues would be an understatement.

*goes to cook book shelf* *takes down Antonion Carluccio's book Italia (in case it's not clear - Italian cook book written by Italian)* *flicks to section on Campania, the region Carluccio was born in* *reads with interest the paragraph on pizza* "I still love pizza, eating it in my hands as they do in Naples - it is the quintessential Italian street food." I was going to make a point, I'm sure, but now I'm way too distracted thinking about Italian food. Mmmmmmm.....

Rosie, sorry I missed your hour of need. For future reference the antidote to too much coffee is non-caffinated fluids, carbs and waiting for it to wear off. Caffeine is a diuretic and stimulates insulin production, so part of the tremulous sick feeling is dehydration and low blood sugar. The rest is just the direct action of the caffeine and has to wear off.

Oh, I knew there was something I was supposed to watch last night and I completely forgot. On a tangental, but loosely related, subject Rosie and Sean, I spent most of yesterday evening trying to find tickets for this show on Wednesday only to see this morning that they've announced it all sold out. Booo!

And to quote the hero of the hour, irony doesn't even start to cover it.

northlondoner, that is, I think, the nicest thing you've ever posted. I'm of the opinion that East Dulwich is none of the things that people judge it to be (pretentious, class divided, posh, common, smug, shit, great etc) but just lots of people making the best of what they have. And mostly, hopefully, that includes reaching out and being kind to one another. It certainly does to me.

Eliza, it's up to you what you spend your money on and what you do to your body, and I'm sure the people on here who say colonics are great do percieve some benefits, but there is absolutely no physiological or anatomical reason to have one. The body is designed to deal with its own waste and whilst modern, processed foods and not great nutritionally it's just not true that undigested food stays in your colon for years. Colonic irrigation is a best an unnecessary but harmless waste of money, but at worst it's dangerous. As for the suggestion that you take picolax for the same effect, well that I really have to object to. Picolax is an extremely strong laxative designed for use in medical settings. If used without care and attention to hydration and electrolyte balance it can lead to life threatening electrolye imbalances.

Less than that, Moos. Her paternal X chromosome will be defective her maternal one has a 50% chance, so overall 50% chance of having two defective X chromosomes and being colour blind. And that's why TLS has never met a colour blind woman.
-
Just to skip back a bit, because Atilia's one word repsonse seemed a bit mean, red devil was right about inheritance of colour blindness. The defect that causes colour blindness is carried on the X chromosome. Men have one X chromosome, inherited from their mother, and one Y chromosome, from their father. Women have two X chromosomes, one from each parent. Colour blindness is less common, although not impossible, in women because they have two X chromosomes. If a woman has one defective X chromosome she won't be colour blind, because she has a second normal X chromosome, but could pass the defective onto any sons that she has. In other words, she will be a carrier. If a man is colour blind he can't pass it on to his sons, because he will only pass his Y chromosome on to his sons, but his daughters will be carriers, because he only has one X chromosome to pass on and it's defective. So, if red devil and his brothers don't have any daughters, then he is quite correct in saying the trait will stop with them. Not "ballacks" at all really.

What Brendan said.

Moos, can I recommend that you google the opening credits of CSI NY, it's bound to be on youtube or something, and I challenge you not to smile back at Flack when he gives his cheeky grin...
-
I'm a huge CSI fan BBW, so we finally have something in common. Vegas and NY only for me. I can't be doing with CSI Miami (known as CSI crazy in the J/BN5 houshold) where everything and everyone is orange and all the girls love Horatio and people dying of cancer look suspiciously healthy and gorgeous and if you're a CSI you can shoot badies in Rio and get away with it. And on the male hottie front, Moos, how can you discount Flack and Danny in CSI NY. I can't even get through the opening credits without getting all giggly over Flack. But back to the point, I watched transfixed last night and I think Morpheus is going to be fantastic. Hurrah for CSI!

Why so incredulous charlie? I'm looking forward to watching buggie and the future Mr buggie get hitched in a couple of weeks and I don't see why the fact that they met internet dating should provoke quite so many question marks. Nichiyobi, I don't think there's anything wrong with internet dating. What's so strange about getting to know someone by exchanging a few e-mails before you meet up or using a website aimed at people with similar interests to you to narrow the field? I know a few people who've done it and they've had mixed experience for very sucessful to pretty rubbish, but that's the same as any kind of dating surely? I was lucky enough to meet the love of my life at work, so I've never done it, but I have made some really good friends through this site and I don't really see what the difference is. Good luck!

Brilliant, Rosie! I haven't heard that in a looooong time. And the forum triumphs again taking your thanks to the DJ responsible. Marvellous.

Spectacular cross posting. Huguenot, I apologise. Based on our recent spats I thought you might be bearing a grudge. PGC rightly called me on it. Sorry :-$
