  1. Huge congrats Heidi, and I too am sorry to hear it was a bit of a mare! Is this not totally normal though? It certainly matches our experience. I only say this, as if you complain, and include this, they'll jump on it, and tell you it's perfectly normal, and forget all the other points you make. I know everyone has different styles, but it is amazing how a different personality, as well as experience can make a lot of difference. We had at least 5 different midwives dealing with Mrs Keef, for varying amounts of time, and with some, she felt so comforted, while one or two of the others, I think she'd still gladly swing for!
  2. Ha ha, you're right PGC, but alas I can't do this Sunday. Would that sort of thing suit people though?

I hear ya man, very very similar situation to mine, I'm just a bit further along. As ratty says, there could be some milage in this. I'd be up for meeting with kids, but also meeting for a pint, and not necessarily chatting about kids all the time, but having people around who had been there, or were going to be there. I've read a couple of books by blokes about having kids, some of which rang true, but that doesn't replace real life people.
  4. The current chair should stay, but get more involved, would be my opinion. An intersting point was made earlier, before BBW started being BBW, someone said they liked the Drawing Room, but found it a bit intimidating. I do think that a lot of the posts in there try so hard to sound all knowledgable, and spot on, even if hey state the exact opposite to the previous knowledgable and spot on post. This then can be off putting for someone who just wants to offer an opinion, without wanting the rest of the world to think "aren't they clever". This doesn't bother me personally of course, because I am fucking clever! :-S
  5. He should have had a penalty from Johnson too to be fair.
  6. I thought it was a bit naff.
  7. She is indeed a Miss Minikeef, just coming up to 5 months (19 weeks).
  8. The colour on your telly is working just fine!
  9. Wales are shit too ;-) Lennon on fire that half, and Heskey did a lot more than missing two chances, he's worked bloody hard.
  10. Thanks. During the week is problematic, as I'm a 9-5 man (well, I don't take that entirely seriously, but you know what I mean), so evenings or weekends. Not sure what I'm looking for, would be interested in either meeting with kids, or just meeting for a pint and chat.
  11. Matt the Shipman thing was a joke, not even you would be that biased! ;-)
  12. For the record, this lad PROBABLY was innocent, I just don't think it's got much to do with football.
  13. No it's me. I was basically teasing Matthew, as I can't help feeling that if Harold Shipman had worn a Liverpool scarf, Matt would have claimed he was innocent.
  14. Oh Piers, I felt I was stabbing you in the heart by starting this, glad to hear you more or less agree. I think that we as users should take it upon ourselves to try and keep a thread on track in the lounge if it is a good topic. It's only been a month, so maybe the Drawing Room needs a bit longer, but I suspect it will remain much the same.
  15. I also said that if I took the Chair (I was too busy), I'd happily tell everyone that it was me. It's fair enough if whoever it is wants to remain anonymous, but I felt that being open about it would be better. As it is, "The Chair" is just like Admin, coming in to the room to tell people off, or give a stern look, without actually moving conversations on, which for me, is the role of a chair (the human kind obviously).
  16. Hello, sorry if this thread has already been done, search didn't bring anything up. I was wondering if there are any dad groups around, as I basically don't really have anyone to talk to about dad stuff. I see all my mates, who will try and listen to me, but basically haven't a clue what I'm on / moaning about, as none of them have kids. One of my best friends had a kid 2 months before we did, but had just moved way up north, and so the perfect support buddy was taken away (something we both lament).
  17. I should have just said "what moos said" really.
  18. With regards the other sections, I never really used the wanted bit much, so no opinion. I definitely think the family room is better split in 2. That's what I'd vote for.

Well it was basically a joke Matthew, although I don't think he's innocent just because he supports Liverpool. I don't know him, he might be lovely, or he might be a nasty piece of work.
  20. Michael Owen probably agrees with you ratty!
  21. By the way, the route I mention above is pretty flat, once you get Forest Hill Road out the way.
  22. Right, it's been going for over a month now, and there have been a good few threads started, and discussed in varying depth, some not making it to 2 pages, some going for several. So, is it working, what do people really think? Please note, I am not starting this thread to annoy anyone, and will be interested to hear positive and negative feedback. The reason I start it, is because it came up in another, totally unrelated, thread, but thought it would be good to open up the wider debate. Okay, for me, it doesn't work, I was all for it, but now it?s here, I feel it has taken something away form the forum. Debates in there often lose input from some good posters who seem to prefer the lounge. The Lounge misses out on some good threads, and is now a bit naff, whilst threads in the drawing room are taken far too seriously by a small number of contributors. Personally, rather than a separate Lounge, and Drawing room, I?d rather see a Lounge for chat about whatever, and a ?fun room? for the likes of the song game and all those threads which just won?t die!!!
  23. Defoe to continue his scoring streak and get 2. Eduardo to dive and win a penalty. England 2 - 1 Croatia.
  24. The quietest (not quickets) way, would be to go along by Brenchley Gardens, on to St Norbert Road, in to Brockley, up to Wickham Road, cross Lewisham Way, and go down Friendly Street, turn left at the bottom, and you come out at the big junction by Deptford Bridge DLR.

Never went in, as I was only 14 / 15, but always remember sitting at the bus stop opposite, on the way home from somewhere like the venue. Every Friday / Saturday night, you'd have rows of BMWs parked off street on Peckham Rye!
