    Am Dram

Very good point, but I personally think they're both rubbish. Even Oliver isn't exactly a cheery tale! ;-) To be fair, I have seen some really good acting, singing, and production in Am Dram productions (not that I go to that many). Ys there are usually parts that you're trying not to laugh at, but that's part of the fun really.

Loving this thread, things I've never seen that I now plan to, including Ratatouille! Bignumber5, the scene where he plays the opera is one of my favourites. I'm not (that) ashamed to say that I like Dirty Dancing. It has a wonderful soundtrack, including "Cry to me" by Solomon Burke, (the tune in the scene annaj posted) which is one of my favourite songs (although unfortunately a pretty girl has never asked me to dance to it in an effort to get me in to bed). I also had a childhood crush on "Baby". It was on one night last week, and amazingly it was the first time Mrs Keef had ever seen it!

Film that has probably rung a few bells with a lot of blokes if they're honest. Did with me!

Musical of Animal Farm. Seriously? At least you were at school, that's allowed. I was in West Side Story, which I do actually love, but It's a classic.

What is that from David? Is there a computer game based on it?

I love all the Barber Shop scenes in Coming to America. Here you go ratty. Oh, and a classic from Cool Runnings.

    Am Dram

Last week I went to see 2 "am dram" productions, which had to be seen to be believed (seriously!). On Thursday I was at the South London Theatre Company's production of Elegies For Angels, Punks and Raging Queens by Bill Russell, which was a piece that was at times extreamely powerful, and at times, completely ludicrous! Basically, it is a number of monologues from characters that had died of AIDS in the 80s, and then had a square added to The AIDS memorial quilt. Now the writing of the monologues was great, and the acting was also very very good. What I found bizare was the fact that between these monologues, they would burst in to these really cheesey up beat musical numbers! It was so hard not to laugh at some points, and I just didn't think it worked. The final monologue was so well delivered, and so sad, that it actually had a lump in my throat, and then they finished with this big musical number, which just made me think of THIS, after which I just couldn't stop myself from laughing! As if that wasn't enough, on Friday I went to see my friend's wife in Jekyll & Hyde - The Musical (I kid you not)!!! She is a member of The Dartford Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (DAODS), and they put on a couple of shows a year at the Orchard Theatre in Dartford, which is a really nice venue. The quality on show was impressive, as was the set / lighting and all that. But Jekyll & Hyde the musical. Come on!!! Anyway, thought I'd get that off my chest, so fel free to post am dram stories or recommendations on here! Honestly, I'm not taking the p!ss out of it, they seem to have a great time doing it.... As long as you can break the clique which seems to exist in al thes small companies.
  10. Moos wrote the above after posting a link to THIS.. From that film, I actually like This One. Anyway, thought I'd start a new thread for people to post favourite scenes, be they funny, romantic, scary, whatever.
  11. I do cash tips, have known too many people working in places and getting hardly any of the money that was left there for them.
  12. Now now ratty, you say you're not too bitter, but you're starting to sound it! Can't see Tony Adams being a long term fixture.
  13. Not the first to be fair.... Who could forget Christian Gross!
  14. I'll have a go ;-)
  15. Maybe next in the prem, but Alan Pardew hasn't got long left at Charlton by all accounts, and apparently He's really unpopular within the club.

    Petty Annoyances

    I love that scene!
  17. Guess it's different folks and all that. I love Ganapatti, but did have one bad meal in there, so bad nights can happen. Totally agree with Tillie that the menu is limited, I don't like fish, which doesn't leave me with that many options, but the chicken dishes are awesome! I also love the garlic chutney they do with the popadoms, and they sell jars of it. Still, it is in Peckham, and I wouldn't really put it in with all the curry houses, as it's not a curry house. Not been to Omrith yet, think it's hard to name a winner, thing it was MikeP who said that it basically depends what you're ordering, all of them have their good dishes. Most recently I've enjoyed Curry Cabin.
  18. Pub = Somewhere that do several beers. Bar = Somewhere that does one type of beer, and you feel a bit arkward when you order a pint of it. Mag is absolutely a pub.
  19. The Castle will prbably be the cheapest pint, it's a bit of a dive, but I like it in a way. Others are not so keen. Lordship Lane gets very busy at the weekends (The Bishop, The Black Cherry, The EDT and so on), but they are all nice enough places to go for a beer in the week. Personally I'd recommend the CPT, The Magnolia, and The Plough, but they are all similar in price, not expensive, but not cheap as such.
  20. I am feeling rotten today! Just munching through some melon in an effort to clense my abused body!
  21. EDT may be loud, but thankfully not full off Jazz!

    *whistles a nameless tune*
  23. Always find it better to put them back in the morning, that way you really do get to enjoy the extra hour when the sweet realisation dawns!
  24. EDT sounds good to me, just so long as we never start suggesting the bishop!
