  1. Well quite. I'd say (based on no fact at all) there seems to be quite a high number of gays in the village, but whether or not they'd all want to drink in the gay bar is another matter. Which reminds me. Gonna spend all your money!!!!
  2. Even though I have commented, I see what you're saying ratty. However, I guess it depends, when you say "Surely, whether it would be good for ED to have a gay bar is a question that can only be answered by someone with a vested interest", you could say, it's good for the gays folk of ED, but good for the area as a whole, that I think is something that people will have opinions on, much like they seem to about every shop, flat, needle exchange, and whatever else someone thinks about opening in ED.
  3. http://www.hiroshima-remembered.com/photos/hiroshima/images/HR18.jpg Truly scary image. I always thought it looked like a bearded old man in a hat :-S Lets hope we don't ever see something similar!
  4. Playing at a wedding the following day, so won't be having a mad one, but am interested to try The Duke, so will most likely pop along.

Similar situation with that female sprinter we have (can't remember her name). She was banned for not being at 3 seperate drug tests (no accusation that she ever took drugs), and even though she is world champ, the brit olympic board were talking about banning her. She just said fine, if you ban me I'll go and run for Nigeria (I think), and beat you on the track. She is running for us now. Good to see the board will stick to their guns!
  6. No, I didn't want to come across as too much of a dreamer, so I just put "I enjoy drinking meths in the park".

Behold the Lord High Executioner A personage of noble rank and title ? A dignified and potent officer, Whose functions are particularly vital! Defer, defer, To the Lord High Executioner! Defer, defer, To the noble Lord, to the noble Lord, To the Lord High Executioner! (Enter Ko-Ko) Taken from the county jail By a set of curious chances; Liberated then on bail, On my own recognizances; Wafted by a favouring gale As one sometimes is in trances, To a height that few can scale, Save by long and weary dances; Surely, never had a male Under such like circumstances So adventurous a tale, Which may rank with most romances
  10. God I'm not sure I want this job now... It is in the cuddly voluntary sector though, and it's only a Team Leader (line manager) with a team manager above.
  11. Suicide squad, ATTAAAAACK!!!!!! That showed 'em *dies*

To be fair Cassius, the vast majority of the people over there are amateurs, a lot of whom struggle to raise the money to even get out there.

Paula Radcliffe has basically said she'll definitely be at the starting line, after that she's running on a leg that could give out at any time... So, great hope there then.
  14. Bloody hell, it's only heading up a new team advising and providing advocacy to visually impaired people, I could do that with my eyes closed (pardon the pun)! :( Moos, are you serious, because... "I believe in promoting the personal and professional development of those who report directly to me by setting realistic objectives and giving continual and interactive support, direction and feedback" ... Just sounds a bit too clever for me :-S Bugger it, it's going in! Maybe I'm safer in social services, although all this stupid speak is creeping more and more in to our office!
  15. Does this sound naff enough? "I believe in assisting in the personal and professional development of those who report directly to me by setting achievable objectives and regular supervision and monitoring." *tries to stop himself from being sick*
  16. Basically I'd pretty much filled it in as *bob* suggests, but may add a sprinkling of bull sh!t now just to really impress the people that are impressed by this sort of thing... What happened to speaking English?!? Thanks for the advise.

I'm more a winter man myself, if there's noone winning medals for sweeping an ice rink, I don't want to know!
  18. Hi guys, I am applying for a new job, and the only thing on the person spec (fortunately way down the bottom) that I don't really get is; 7.1 Ability to develop, review and implement objectives for direct reports. Don't understand the jargon, what does that mean????? :-S
  19. When a phone of mine got soaked it took a couple of days to sort itself out, but it got there eventually... May I suggest that if it turns on again at all, you just hook it straight up to the computer and salvage what files you can.
  20. Agree fully with Dog, it's slow, but generally worth the wait. The most traditional Cafe in the area I'd say. Chips are a bit hit and miss though.
  21. What Brendan said, especially I think something about the area has changed quite recently. As I said earlier, last Friday we started at the CPT for a few before wandering down Lordship Lane. Now I have never been a big Bishop fan, but FFS, the crowd outside both there, and the cherry (which I am a fan of) was huge and frankly, chavy! The rest of the Lane just seemed really quiet and subdued. Went in the EDT for one, but left due to massive volume of music, and not being able to take beer outside for a smoke. Ended up joining the forum drinks at the Gowlett which was very pleasant, but to be honest, hadn't been out intention. Maybe it was a one off, but if that was my one experience of Lordship Lane, I wouldn't go back, and I wouldn't recommend it. Also agree with Brendan that the Plough is now one of the most appealling places in ED, and with the exception of the wallpaper, I still like the good old CPT :)-D
  22. Have to say that on Friday night 3 of us decided to stay on lordship lane, and it did seem a bit weird. Don't know if it was just me, but nowhere seemed appealing.

  24. Just saw this interesting point/question raised on the BBC 606 board. this debate is pointless, pieterson is THE CAPTAIN so lets get used to it. what interests me is where will he field, listening to TMS on the radio his name is hardly mentioned when england are fielding, he is usually well away from the action. is this because vaughan had doubts about his ability. at mid-off, the usual position for a captain, the ability to field and catch well is often tested. also will he bowl himself.
