For me, that is enough for them to deserve their place. I also don't think there should be a secondary competition, it's a waste of time (even if Liverpool win it this season).

I personally think that only the champions, of each country's top flight, and winners of the top cup, should be in the competition.

1st April, Half Moon, Hearne Hill. Some good new tunes in the set. Come and have a dance!

Well, I've just ordered the Tascam DP-008, the simplicity of it won in the end (me being a bit rubbish with too many buttons and knobs). I'll report back once I've had a play with it...

Dulwich Hamlets Football Club licence review
Keef replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If it's hired for a private party, is it their responsibility to supply security? It is absolutely insane to blame them for what happened the other week. They have been licensed for years, and this has not been a regular occurance. What happened, probably would have happened wherever they were. -
Agree with Sean, "pretentious" is not the right word. undeniably shit, is probably more appropriate.

Very true. What is that place on Nunhead Lane, that has tried several different times, under several different names, to attract the ED type crowd, and it never lasted. Biggest problem for the Ivy House is location, simple as that. The Hob in Forest Hill does very well with the comedy, and gigs, but the reason for that, is that it's opposite a train station, and on a main road with buses going by. That said, people could jump on a 484 from Goose Green, which will take them to the Ivy House.

You'd skip the best pub on the list?!? Shame on you! ;-)
-
For what it's worth, I don't think you are, I agree with you! I also note, that when you, and a couple of others pulled someone up on it, they never responded tto the point.

Have you been to The Ivy House before? Yes Have you been to The Ivy House for other events other than comedy? Yes, Open mic type things Have you ever been to The Ivy House just to have a drink? How often? No How aware are you of The Ivy House's reputation as a live music venue of note in the late sixties and early/mid seventies, when it was known as The Newlands Tavern? Have heard stories, but before my time Is The Ivy House the nearest pub to your house? Have you ever been there (how often?) If not, why not? Nowhere near my house Does the pub feel inviting from the outside? (Briefly explain)I'd say so, it looks like a boozer, might scare some people away, who like a pub to be "gastro" Does the pub feel inviting inside? (Briefly explain)Not been for a couple of years, but the front bar didn't feel particularly welcoming, and the place was a bit tatty What changes would make you more likely to use the pub? Mainly location for me I'm afraid, but a lick of paint, and more live music, and open mic nights. That said, I hardly get out in the week these days.

I still think the plough has a bit of a pub feel, although it's a bit open. Proper pubs need to feel cosey, but that was lost when they ripped the guts oug of it, and created the Goose & Granite. CPT stil' wins for me. Just never feel comfortable in EDT.
-
Some longish walks in that list Brendan, but early on, so you'll be sober enough not to wobble. All the later pubs are nicely close together! I'd definitely move The Actress up the list, between The Hearne, and The CPT. I'd get as far as the CPT, and jus stay there personally. Can't be doing with "the lane", especially if this crawl is going to take place on a Friday or Saturday evening.

I love I Claudius! There was a recent Radio version on Radio 4, with Derek Jacob playing the part of Augustus. The TV series hasn't aged particularly well, but the writing and acting are so good, you really don't mind. From sublime to ridiculous, I have to admit to enjoying Episodes. Have recently started series 1 of Mad Men, and rather enjoying that.

The hearne and the forest hill tavern are both se22 I think, and they are quite out of the way.

Anna, I wondered if you were a forumite. Your baby is very cute! Yes, she is very free with her kisses, the harlot! ::o Was with my friend and his little boy. He is much more used to groups than me, as he runs Little Kickers (he used to do it in Dulwich, but has moved oop north and started his own franchise. I'm not experienced at these groups, but IMO it seemed a lovely group. It is a small space, and from what my mum tells me, it usually gets pretty full, but I think Kimmy is great, and very inclusive of all the kids.

Missing the chances seemed to be the bigger problem, something like 25. Spurs' inconsistancy is reminding me of Liverpol. It's the reason teams like Untited win lots of things, because they grind out result after result, even when they're not playing great. Liverpool just never seemed to be able to do that.

Badum, tish. Thanks folks, he's here all week!

Agree with Mick & ratty. He was out of order, but I doubt it was completely one sided.
