Weekend nightime demographics/behaviour in ED (Lounged)
ChavWivaLawDegree replied to SeanMacGabhann's topic in The Lounge
Maurice. Do you have Asperger's? You seem completely unable to imagine life in other people's shoes but I guess if it's not your fault, then we will all have to try to be patient with you. -
Weekend nightime demographics/behaviour in ED (Lounged)
ChavWivaLawDegree replied to SeanMacGabhann's topic in The Lounge
Last time I was back home at New Year, I went with my brother and some other people to a club in Liverpool. They had bouncers every 4 meters or so inside the club in addition to the 10 on the door. In that one club, on that one night, I saw one guy get glassed, another get bottled, 2 girls trying to kick the crap out of another girl on the dancefloor even though each were pounced on by the bouncers and ejected with such speed, you would have missed it if you'd blinked. On our way to the car, I saw gangs of semi naked guys roaming around looking for fights, and one drunken guy threatening about 5 others with a knife. I'd forgotten how bad it was were I grew up, and think the random violence I've seen in London, is no where near as bad as up north. I think divided societies, marginalisation and not enough positive outlets for adrenaline junkies combined with a dog eat dog world all contribute to this phenomenon. -
Solar and wind power can replace fossil fuels for quite big projects, so I don't see a problem with that. There were workshops on the climate camp on how to convert your system to 12v DC something or other and there are loads of other places to find out how to do that. (Not being someone who has a clue about these things, I'm probably not the best person to relay that info - but I could ask my brother if you are interested).

Maurice - BARA have given us all a lot of evidence, in their posts, petition and press releases, on which to base an asumption of their probable behaviour, so not sure how you can say any judgement I made on how the meeting may have been conducted, would be "blind acceptance of 'BARA bad'". Also can you please answer my question: If they were to decide to add another service, e.g an altenative therapy clinic, would you expect them to consult the wider community and do impact assessments on that service?

DM - ""I also think you lot all went on the defensive cos none of you can kick a ball straight. When the oil runs out and climate change hits, there won't be the kind of civilisation you lot are propped up by now. If you can't build your own house, grow your own food or protect your land, you are gonna be in trouble." What would you say the above quote indicates then sweetie?" This is not class-ism, both of my nerdy IT special-ist brothers have changed career, one trained as an electrician, the other has become a farmer. They both decided that life without pracical skills leaves them vulnerable in the face of what may become a totally different society after the environmental deficit that has supported capitalism and growth is called in. Nothing to do with class.

What he said. Plus lots of small companies competing for the honour of delivering our mail would be less efficient, would cherry pick, would put up prices and make a mess of it, just like happened with the rail service. We need a National postal service, not a post it and pray it gets there service.

Bring back eugenics! I was going to go into a rant, but can't be arsed cos Dom's post has to be a wind up.

Hate to be a PC tw@t, but don't you think 'frog' is derogatory? I feel uncomfortable when hearing or seeing anything like that. I can't stand classism either, which seems to be the other 'acceptable' predjudice. I know you guys think it's funny and just part of being British to take the piss out of the French, but class hatred has been around for hundreds of years too, and it's just as disgusting as racism, homophobia, religious hatred, sexism etc.

I think Maurice is not a happy chappie, because his posts are often reactionary. Maybe he needs the services of the ED massage parlours mentioned on the other thread. What's your preference Mr M? I'm sure you will find a little light relief if you prowl the newsagents windows.

Sorry I was just being pedantic -
I know it's a bit late, but I never go anywhere without having someone come and stay in my house. If you can't get someone to stay, it's a good idea to ask your neighbours to keep an eye out while you are away, and make sure they have your contact details. The rest of the time, a big dog is better than an alarm!

Robbery is violence or the threat of violence used to commit a theft, so if there is no violence or threat, it's not robbery. -

Paul, the quietone, I was about to say that if the kids didn't get done it wouldn't have been because of their age. I've seen 13 and 14 year olds in court before. -
I've got a question for BARA and everyone who think the DMC acted wrongly by not consulting properly. I wonder what it is they are obliged to consult on. If they were proposing to close down a service, then I could understand the need to consult. If they were to decide to add another service, e.g an altenative therapy clinic, would you expect them to consult the wider community and do impact assessments on that service? I don't really think the community should have a right to veto a service to it's patients, regardless of the private nature of the medical centre, or any profits made. I disagree with privitisation of the health service, but I would really like to know, if it is purely because this is an issue regarding addicts, that you expect to be able to have a say in this.

Did you know they can cut down trees without warning?
ChavWivaLawDegree replied to reggie's topic in The Lounge
"The copper nails, they poison the trees and the poor old tree suffers a prolonged, agonising death." - it must be just the normal nails they use then to stop them cutting them down. Just looked it up, it's called spiking and is here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tree_spiking and here are some instructions incase anyone fancies taking a bit of direct action http://ragette.org/treespike/how.htm!! -
What about tha anti-social parking in my street from the Catholic school down the end of my road. They are load, anti-social and not on the whole African.

Definately not - they should be running around instead of spending hours sitting in front of a computer -
I didn't even notice the racist comment before and think it's out of order. I also think you lot all went on the defensive cos none of you can kick a ball straight. When the oil runs out and climate change hits, there won't be the kind of civilisation you lot are propped up by now. ChavWivaLawDegree replied to reggie's topic in The Lounge
Cuff asked - "What is the copper nails thing? I thought ringing was the only way to really damage a problem tree" - it's to stop them being able to use a chainsaw on the tree cos they will hit embedded nails and break the chain. -
