  1. I just don't think more "cycle lanes" are the answer. Better planning and forward thinking with proper planning / as I have said and legislation that makes us all as safe is needed. Individual so called road improvements don't work for anyone. Eventually we will all be forced to use public transport or cycle. Which really does not work for everyone.
  2. I am sure what the new plan is but who knows how the postal service will work from here onwards
  3. It is simply my opinion that I feel is an important view in planning road development. Legislation can be used in a positive way to protect all. We all deserve to be safe 🙏
  4. I don't think there should be more lanes for cyclists. I think there needs to be some legislation around cyclists/cycling. Then when there are proper laws in place to enforce sensible behavior by cyclists. I think it would be a good time to explore the expansion of cycling lanes. Not all cyclists are respectful or safe to ba around.
  5. Cyclists do cause a lot issues. Especially the ones who speed, ignore red lights and shout at you as you simply try to navigate a pathway or crossing. Cyclists do need to be held to account for their dangerous behaviors. I personally would like all cyclists to be licensed and insured. Walking is no longer an enjoyable experience. My elderly Mum is really scared of bikes. I have nearly been run down by cyclists many times. Bikes do cause a lot of damage when they hit you. Plus the lack of law enforcement surrounding cyclists on pavements which is associated with crime. So personally I do not wish for cyclists to have more routes crossing the road is impossible already. Cyclists seem to think they can just take over roads, crossings, lanes and pavements.
  6. Ohh dear. Why don't the council spend this money on fixing the giant potholes. This would make a safer journey for everyone. What a waste of money. The road works fine as it is.
  7. What a lovely cosy cat. Bless him 🙏
  8. Hi all is anyone having difficulties with the Peckham sorting office? I had a "Sorry we missed you card" on Monday 9th December. On the parcel tracker it said that there was a failed delivery attempt on Saturday 7th December. I went on line and booked a delivery to East Dulwich post office on office lane. Anyways the parcel wasn't delivered there and each day I had an email stating that the parcel delivery attempt failed as it appeared that no one was in. I called on Friday they said that no delivery had been attempted as they had no staff. I went to the sorting office in Peckham on Saturday and the office was closed. I called again and I was told there was a power failure so the office was closed. However I could see lots of lights on and also lots of staff and vans there. On Friday and. Saturday I was assured that I would be reunited with my parcel within 72 hours. Well guess what I called again today and the manager from the Peckham sorting office has no said that Lordship Lane post office is now refusing to accept any parcels from the royal mail. I have now redirected the parcel to the smaller post office in Forest Hill Road. And I hope it arrives on Thursday to his week. Does anyone have any knowledge about what is going on. My complaint has me been escalated/but I doubt that will help. Any advice please.
  9. Wow you did a very brave thing. Sometimes you just feel well proud to be a Londoner. Bless you 🙏
  10. I do think that many social housing tenancies have terms written about flooring too. They are often ignored but if you ask your local housing officer about that it could be worthwhile. I understand that you do not want to cause a fuss but if the noise from upstairs or nextdoor is unreasonable than you do not have to tolerate it. The tenant next door might be a new tenant and it is worth their while to respect the regulations and be a good neighbour some people have just moved but have a secure tenancy. Others might be on a newer type of tenancy that is reviewed etc. My upstairs neighbours kids jump up and down from furniture onto the floor it is so freaking noisy and it gets on my last nerve but it is in usually done after 7am and before 9pm and some days it is quiet the noise is intermittent. So at least I get a quiet night's sleep. Which is a huge blessing. To be fair we are not the quietest of homes either. You are entitled to be able to have some peace in your home. So don't allow others to ruin the enjoyment of having a lovely home. Read the stuff in the Southwark website around environmental issues which I think explains reasonable noise etc. If you don't follow it up it will never change. Good luck 🤞
  11. LOL. I called the ITN news desk the other week. They asked if I would be happy to on the news. I declined. But the young lady did say that she also had problems with letters that she had sent out.
  12. This is "just" a nasty crime. It goes on all the time. Face masks are worn to hide the faces of the cowards. Since COVID it is easier to wear a balaclava with justification. Children are and have been targeted by other children for a very long time. It just seems to be brazen when done in the middle of a high street in the day time. It goes on all the time. It doesn't make it right. And we as adults should be able to help and become part of the solution. But we often too scared to intervene. The police are too slow to arrive at the scene and they often downgrade it to "just" another daily event. That is the real reason why this goes on. If you dare try to help then you end up in more trouble than the blinking backsides who are the actual criminals. Look up along the streets and see the trainers hanging over to our heads.
  13. It is a very scary horrible thing to happen. I hope the young child recovers. Bless him.
  14. Lyra looks so well compared to the first picture. Brilliant brave little girl and brilliant brave owners...
  15. LOL happy snail he was having a right royal munch. As for the delivery like you said at least you got it...
  16. So true. I purposely avoid places full of little ones that run about. Whilst parents seem hear and see what suits them. I do care about children and I want them to be safe and have a great experience but not every establishment is the correct environment for children.
  17. It is upsetting when you can't go out as much with young children. If you went out earlier they might have given you until a set time of 8 pm for children to leave. Maybe you could ask them what their policy is on families and children. I am sure you are a responsible parent but many people just let their children run around etc. And pubs may not be the best place for little ones. There are loads of places that encourage families. But not all. I remember being asked to leave myself when mine were younger. As for the dog comment ahhh leave the little paws alone.
  18. Well tomorrow when I return from work I will find out if my complaint has been addressed. Will I have any letters in my box? If so will the letters actually be mine. Or will it be that I have no post. Let's wait and see. I will let you all know when I get home tomorrow... Tomorrow, tomorrow, I'd love to have some post tomorrow..... Tomorrow's a day away........
  19. Thank you Geh. It is horrible when your parking fine goes up before it arrives. It has happened here and we have missed VIP medical appointments. The contacts are not very attractive now as with all newbie contracts. But they don't seem to recruiting new staff just shoving existing staff around. Maybe that's their version of recycling. Reuse Redeploy Recycle. But don't actually employ more people. High turn over low paid, uncared for existing staff. Creates a recipe for 3rd class service. When I do get post I often have to spend a good half hour taking post to the correct properties. Maybe I should ask them to pay me for my time. I do a better job than they do.
  20. The post is only focussed on parcels so maybe I should ask for all post to be sent via a box. It would probably be cheaper to send a letter in a parcel that is tracked rather than pay 10.00 for a letter to be sent recorded delivery 🚚 🚚 🚚
  21. The post office is lying - as they are telling you that couldn't deliver. This means that they will avoid a fine for late delivery. I would be fuming too. But Thanks again I have complained maybe my mail could arrive B4 Christmas 🎄 🎁 not a parcel but a letter. I sent a letter that was important 1st class recorded delivery it cost me nearly £10.00 it was very important so I had to pay up. We could all go to the sorting office and sort our own mail. It would probably be quicker and more efficient.
  22. Wow you jogged my memory about the royal dogs. I have a bull breed and although I 💕 her I do get why others would not. She is always on her lead. She has been bitten and attacked by small dogs who have been on and off lead. She has never bitten back. I think all dogs should be kept on their lead unless they are in a specific designated dog exercise area. People should add back up measures accordingly. If you know your dog is aggressive keep it safely away from others. The legislation around dangerous dogs had been flimsy and back in mid 1980's when pitbulls started to appear it was the beginning of a new era in dog ownership. Which has brought us to this point with various XL breeds etc. I am very glad to hear that the police are now taking the issue of dog attacks on dogs very seriously.
  23. Well if you ain't old enough to get that reference what are you doing on EDF on a Saturday night LOL. No offence meant.
  24. Robocop Thank you so much for the brilliant news. Let's hope they get the owner now.
  25. I just called and they lodged a complaint as Sue on this forum suggested. So I hope I might get some post soon
