Brilliant response to the whole incident. I hope that Ellie Reeves can offer you and us some support. Maybe a good one to ask at PM's questions.... -

Ohh Alison. It is so awful. I am glad you are not hurt. There aren't any words really that you could use on a public forum to describe the true feelings and thoughts that I and others all have. I guess you didn't have any dash cam footage. On the slightest off chance it is possible that anyone has video doorbell footage. It is beyond a joke. The next thing it will be a parked car that blame..... Could you describe the model type of moped driver etc. I wonder do know if it is registered locally. Stupid question I suppose. How would we know and what good would knowing do. Just glad you are OK. Please do report this to whoever you can local MP and other in government. Try to get this out forward as a serious issue. Some other people on this forum have made some great responses and recommended a good course of action. Take care. -
Children cycling on the pavement , and cycle training
Happyme5 replied to malumbu's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Ohhh Nutty. The culture in Japan is all built around respect and compliance. They even have beautiful music playing in the toilet to cover anyone's private embarrassment. I personally would love kids to be safe riding on the pavements. But I can't see it working here. Only last week I just dodged a speeding cyclist a teenager who was flying down the pavement. The road was empty at the time. The cyclist had no regard for others. Imagine the damage a speeding cyclist would cause to a small child or elderly person. I love cyclists but I am hoping that they are going to be forced to register and get insurance. LOL Malumbu. I await your response. -
Handyman I agree there has been a big improvement but as you said starting from a point that was scandalous. I agree with you Again (I hadn't really thought about it B4) this notion of private companies owning/operating NHS services especially a GP surgery. At the end of it they are only interested in profit at our loss. When a patient has to go to AnE for treatment that could and should have been provided by their GP practise it must cost a heck of of a lot more to process the now potentially dangerously sick patient. And the privately run practice faces no cost for that. It is the emergency service at the local AnE that gets lumped with those costs. It demonstrates a general lack of reasonable responsible morale planning of provision of services for service users. It is rather scandalous...

You have a fair point. And cyclists can be very aggressive in lets say their "riding style" and if you get hit by a speeding bike on the pavement or otherwise it does bloody hurt. -
LOL. Although it isn't funny I called for over 4 hours the other day pressed every option available. Needless to say no one answered or returned my call. I have however managed to now get on the ask my GP app. After a few years of trying due to an error in admin. They seem to be very short staffed with admin support etc. I have been able to get a fit note within a few minutes from a real GP who I have actually seen. But I did have to in and sort it out at the desk with a chap who seems really busy but good at his job. I don't think the app showing availability of GPs is correct as I noted the GP who dealt with my online request was not showing as available at that time on the app. And now it seems that all appointments are screened for urgency and then dealt with by a phone. Etc.

As I have said. I am not aware of cyclists being involved in crash for cash scams. But I have witnessed mopeds. Maybe the cyclist thing is the delivery cyclist that might happened to be a "Witness" and film the result of the so called accident. I have seen that B4. On Crystal Palace Rd. Another thought do cyclists have insurance. Similar to car insurance. Because I thought the crash for cash scams worked so well for the baddies because of the quick exchange through motor vehicle insurances. Someone will not doubt know more about it than I do. Any thoughts??? Plus there are more than one individual doing this. It will increase again. As I said B4 the school runs are back on. And other posts have stated that the scammers like to pick on pricey cars with a woman driver and a car full of kids. But I am sure that they will pick on any vehicle other than a police car. -

I am not aware of cyclists doing this but it wouldn't surprise me. Plus I have seen a moped doing doing this. So who knows. Maybe it is a free for all. As in free for for all except car drivers. -

Best advice I have ever seen here on this topic is get front and rear dash cams. The incident I saw involved one chap pretending to have been hit and one chap filming obviously after the initial contact/ deliberate crash into the car by the moped. I saw from the filming part. My husband then said after when I mentioned something that it was a probably a crash for cash scam. If we see anything like this again I hope that we would stop and offer support to the car driver who is the real victim. And it is fine and factual to mention a person who is using EAL as an angle in their professional criminality..... -
The tree people in Southwark only remove or work on trees that are diseased or have issues with structure and cutting back to improve health and growth. As far as I know.

It is horrible. And so wrong that insurance companies are doing Jack'''':::: about this. Other than paying out and costing us the consumer huge hikes on our policies. It really isn't good. It will get worse again when there are regular school runs. -
Sad that this happening Sad that we no longer seem to have any community police teams to deter such events. I don't how the police could identify these children. Unless they are back at school and in uniforms. Sad that these children could be being groomed by older children and crimes could.escalate. No one wants to see them being arrested. But a little old fashioned chat with their parents could put them off of this behaviour.

I do think it might be stupid tik tok thing. Other members of EDF said this was happening just as the schools were finishing. The saddest thing is that some of the incidents seemed to mention younger children with older children. I hope that the little ones are not being bullied or groomed by the slightly older children. I personally have a huge dog and other adults in my home. But I would not open the door to investigate. Who knows what the next thing will be.

Blinking horrible. If you where a really anxious person it could cause you to be worried. I did see on the forum a while ago that some kids were smashing people's street doors intentionally causing damage and breaking glass panels etc. Someone said it was a tik tok thing. That fact that you never saw them sounds like it could well have been kids very quick on their feet.

Someone who knows about this scandalous professional scam. Posted a link previously that mentioned a fact that this nasty crime which it is has been noted in by MPs or such. I think if we had the energy we could find the post on this forum. The shame of it is a registered car owner is so open to being a victim of this unlawful scam. And insurance companies just keep on allowing the scams to profit. The easiest way would be for the insurance companies to stand their ground and not payout in on scam claims. That would put an end to it. What a radical idea. For multi national corporate companies to stand up and beat the scammers. Holding to their accountabilities. Or are these companies happy to continue to rob the car owner. And launder our cash. Using the letter of the law I did not intent to sound like a person who indulges in conspiracy type theories. But maybe insurance companies are allowing fraudulent claims as a means of cashing in. -

Gosh it really is outrageous. Can imagine how blinking frustrating this must have been. Best idea to get dash cams. -
It is too scary. It sounds like this woman has no good intentions. This seems to be a planned attempt to snatch a child. Well done to you for following your instinctive swift reaction which kept your child safe. I hope that you are able to enjoy being out and about and thank you for finding the courage to share this with others. I am sure that sharing will help to protect others. Bless you and stay safe.
