"East Dulwich Dads Club!" How about a series of informal lectures in the CPT - "Nappy changing made easy", "Why babies cry, 1 - 100", and "Sleep deprivation will not kill you (it just feels like it will)"

I never said it was good, H, just that you can't damn any group lawyers on the basis that they engage in work on those terms, or conclude that it can never benefit a claimant. I think your post could be interpreted as a general condemnation, which is unwarranted (or to use the legal term, "bollocks").

"Be terribly careful with no win no fee lawyers, because they do exactly what it says on the can. If you win, their fees need to be paid. Surprisingly often, cases will be won, but only with minimal compensation. This means that you'll win 1,000 pounds damages, and be faced with a lawyer's bill of 10,000 to 15,000. It'll make you cry." Sorry, but this is bollocks. Conditional fee agreements ("no win, no fee") are now so widespread for personal injury work that you'd be hard pushed to find a lawyer who didn't offer them. For an explanation of how it works, see here Having said that, I definitely wouldn't go for anyone who advertises on TV. The Solicitors Regulatory Authority operate an accreditation scheme for different areas of practice, including personal injury, so I would look for a local firm who have one or more solicitors acredited under the scheme. Go and see them and ask them to talk you through everything, including the risks, and don't sign up unless they inspire confidence. Good luck.

I think most fans associate individual players with diving, rather than clubs, but if you start a row along the lines of "Man U are the worst, no Arsenal, no Liverpool", you're not going to get very far. FWIW, the most extravagant/compulsive diver I've ever seen in the Premiership was Ginola.

Even Bergkamp, although he was clearly a world class player, was basically unwanted by Inter when Arsenal signed him.

"if you think of players that have moved to a new club (when in their prime) it's always been to foriegn clubs." It's an interesting one - most players don't really establish themselves until they have played in one of the top european leagues, and very few move from Spanish or Italian clubs to English clubs once they are at the top. The top Brazilians always go to Spain or Italy, I guess for cultural reasons (and because of the weather).

"I think it is appalling he is being deported for something that is not an offence in the UK. We have no legal or moral obligation to abide by US criminal law." He can't be extradited for conduct that is not an offence in the UK - its a basic rule that is in the 2003 Act. His argument was that he should be prosecuted in the UK (where he could expect a significantly lighter sentence) - the problenm with that argument is that the harm clearly arose in the US, and international law suggests they should have jurisdiction. I'm no fan of either the current state of US-UK extradition law, or US criminal justice generally, but I have little sympathy with this guy, and he's certainly no martyr. BTW, is KatotheCat saying america should be shut down? (see above) That seems kind of extreme.

No, it is "bear" "2. To support and remove or carry; to convey. [1913 Webster]"

"I had some nice food in Barcelona, but again, the majority of places are just serving up re-heated rubbish to tourists." A slightly sweeping statement regarding a city of 4 million people? I've generally had good food in Barcelona, and without having to look too far from the obvious tourist areas.

I had a superb meal recently at Champor-champor near London Bridge. I had been half expecting to hate the place (fusion type food, camp/kitsch interior), but the food was genuinely outstanding - this dish in particular: "Deepfried catfish fillet; soft-roast aubergine topped with sweet & spicy sambal; Thai sweet basil leaves" 2 for 1 deal with Taste London card also made it pretty reasonable. In Barcelona on Saturday and after watching the castellers had great tapas at L'Anxoveta in Gracia - the stand-out dish was braised beef cheek, although the "secrets d'iberic' were pretty good too.

"Should killers be named?" They generally are, unless there are exceptional circumstances - open justice and all that. It is usually restricted where identifying an adult will identify a child involved in the case - it's the child's privacy being protected, not the adult's. In any event, restrictions on reporting of cases apply to the media only, so (to my knowledge) there was nothing to prevent anyone who wanted to know the identities of these individuals from going to court and seeing them, and hearing their names read out. A very, very small number of released prisoners get a new identity, partly because those convicted of the most serious and terrrible cases are more likely to have a 'whole life' tariff - they aren't getting out. In 15-20 years the vast majority of people will have forgotten about Baby P - unfortunately, it is a far from unique case.

We had a party at Gambado in Beckenham, which was a great venue and surprisingly well organised - party host collects presents and keeps them for you, keeps a list of guests so everyone gets in quickly even if they arrive a bit early/late, and a reserved area of seating for parents while the kids are playing. I had a look at their website and it is currently ?8.50 per child for under 4s parties, including food.

Sicily will definitely be warm enough (although they do have spectacular thunderstorms in October). I'd go for Giardini-Naxos - out of season it will be reasonably quiet, nice beach, and near to Taormina, Catania (for Mt Etna), and only about an hour's drive from Syracuse (if you are into history).

Immaterial, did you fall asleep in the mid-70s and wake up yesterday?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Lisbie, on loan from us, gets two. After the 4th goal went in, 2 budgies fans ran over to the dug out and threw their season tickets at Bryan Gunn You know how some people say that you want your rival team to be strong, so there's real competition....that's rubbish I'll still be laughing when Norwich are playing the Hamlet

I've never heard such a load of sh!t in my life Biggs was a nasty crook who deserved all he got, and has never shown any remorse - in his last interview (shown yesterday) he explicitly said he had no regrets because he felt 'part of history' Murder someone and you get a life sentence, it's mandatory - how long you actually serve depends on many different factors. Armed robbers have always received long sentences because they are professional criminals, who will keep robbing until they are caught.
-
I see a bad ass motherf*cker who don't take no sh!t from nobody!

The CWU mistakenly believe that they have the same sort of clout that the tube drivers do, but the truth is that changes in the sector and general decline in the importance of mail services have made them politically impotent.

"Feel good is too subjective to be a clear genre surely?" I'd say "feel good" can be a genre or a purely personal thing I like "The Commitments" which I guess is a "feel good" genre film "Where Eagles Dare" isn't, but it's a feel good film for me because of the nostalgia factor - before the arrival of DVDs, Sky movie channel etc., a classic 60s war film on TV on a Saturday afternoon was a treat - and because the Richard Burton/Clint Eastwood combo is an absolute winner.

Obviously I'm hoping Ipswich will be up there, but it's been a strange summer of mainly rumours rather than exciting new signings. Apparently Priskin is putting pen to paper today, and Lee Martin, a young winger we signed from Man U, looks good. I'd be disappointed if we didn't at least make the play-offs. I think Boro will struggle to score enough goals, but they should be good enough for the top six. I'd go for WBA, Sheff U and maybe Cardiff to be pushing for automatic promotion.
