  1. Nah, but I've been on the other side of plenty of them
  2. Sorry rainbow, are you complaining about people who moan about the prices but continue to buy stuff from your shop? Maybe if you complain directly to those people they'll get the message and take their business elsewhere. That would be better? If people want to know why you are more expensive than the supermarket you should be ready (and able) to tell them why - what extra value are they getting that justifies the higher price? Maybe your products are better, maybe you are more convenient, maybe you offer a better service or'shopping experience'? There's nothing nasty or greedy about wanting value for money.
  3. The first time that a lady told me about 'hovering' I refused to believe it. It turns out to be a near universal female practice, and confirms that the chasm between male and female thinking on almost any issue remains just that. Any guys willing to admit to 'hovering'?

    Factory Tours

I have been on a factory tour at Tunnocks, home of the tea cake and caramel wafer, but it's a bit far - Glasgow. And many years ago I had a summer job in a jam and jelly factory. I reckon if you call/write/e-mail a few you'd get a receptive response. Just make sure you don't come across like an animal rights nutter or similar.
  5. It's worth posting the link again, as it is the best site I have ever some across for the sheer breadth and (misplaced) confidence of contemporary crackpot nonsense residing there. "They" are definitely trying to kill you - yes, you!
  6. "eucalyptus oil kills the TB organism outright" The World Health Organisation are a little more cautious in their opinion: Eucalyptus oil
  7. I absolutely support the right of anybody to put their fingers in their ears and say, over and over again, "lalalalalala, I refuse to listen to reason", but where kids are involved I think they should be at least 18 before they are allowed to make their own bone-headed decisions on important issues like this.
  8. "the typical UK system where paedophiles don't necessarily even get jailed at all and they invariably get relatively lenient sentences" I don't think this is true, particularly since the introduction of indeterminate sentences. This perception may be caused by the tendency of newspapers to report the minimum term that must be served before parole is considered, without highlighting that the vast majority will serve far longer than that.
  9. "You chose to spend your money on your family, I spend mine on the match. Everyone has a choice." That seems like a sensible perspective. Keef, stop wasting your money on that kid and start a standing order to the Rafa Transfer Fund.
  10. Go to Gianicolo (hill to the west of the vatican) for the best view of the city.
  11. There is a power to issue a fixed penalty to a parent, in lieu of prosecution, for a child's failure to attend regularly at school. I don't think Southwark schools use this power though.
  12. I think most single women in their 30s have discovered that there is only one place where gangs of eligible, good-looking, solvent 30 something men hang out, and that is....... in their dreams. Sad but true.
  13. For information "What is Wrongful Trading? When sometime prior to winding a Director or Shadow Directors knew or ought to have known there was no reasonable prospect of avoiding Insolvent Liquidation. What are the signs? When the Director or Shadow Directors acted unreasonably or negligently by entering in to contracts with knowledge of the companies affairs and avoiding the facts. How can it be proved? When the Director or Shadow Directors act outside the expected reasonable standards of skill, knowledge and experience - This is known as the objective test. If the Director or Shadow Directors in question possess professional qualifications they must meet expected standards - This is called the subjective test. What is a Director or Shadow Directors defence? That the person took every step to minimise potential loss. What is the penalty? The Director or Shadow Directors have to make a contribution, without limit from personal funds, as the court sees fit. This is to enable compensation, not to punish those concerned. There is also the likelihood of a directors disqualification for up to 15 years." Where to make a complaint: CIB
  14. There was only one person making pointless accusations and chippy comments.....
  15. "The discussion after all this time is how to proceed. Polanski is in the frame at the moment but if you are looking for celebs to jail for underage sex with boys or girls in the 70s, well, take your pick Do we say that the 70s were different, we as a society have moved on and don't accept that now or do we say we don't accept it now and we shouldn't allow admissions of it then? Aren't there enough biogrophies (from Led Zepplin, to Bowie, to Jack Nicholson and everyone in between) where underage sex (with groupies, fans, whoever) is frequently alluded to or even described? Are we willing to retrospectively trawl the files until we have have gottem all?" I think this is relevant in understanding the range of opinions as to the appropriate punishment, and whether the US justice system will deliver the appropriate punishment. Views in the 70s about sex with an under legal age (but physically mature) girl were vastly different to now - in the UK, prosecutions were rare and penalties relatively light. Now it is a crime to have sex with a girl (or boy) over the legal age of consent if you are in a position of trust.
  16. Not being married does not prevent disputes about jointly owned/acquired property - they just get resolved according to different rules (and not always that different). I think pre-nups are a great idea - for someone else.
  17. If his birthday is in December he would normally start the following September i.e. 3 months before turning 5 - if you want him to start at another time I would suggest contacting Southwark, as I'm not sure how flexible they are on this. southwark
  18. "stable bio-diversity" "mutual equilibrium" These phrases sound persuasive, but I'm a cynic - any evidence for your theory of 'mutual equilibrium"?
  19. The only helpful comparison between GM and organic is that the distinction that is made is an artificial one - the only way to draw lines between GM and non GM foods, or organic and non-organic goods, is by using essentially arbitrary criteria. The Soil Association boast that they have higher, more rigorous standards than are required by UK and EU legislation, and other certifying bodies - so what standard defines 'organic'?
  20. I definitely wouldn't go through Croydon, as mapped above. I usually go S Circular to Tulse Hill, through W Norwood, up Knight's Hill and then right at the traffic lights which brings you down to the A23 by Streatham Common. Turn left there and keep on the A23 through Norbury and on to Purley Way - turn off when you see the IKEA chimneys.
  21. Disastrous start to the season for us (ITFC) and all our worst fears about Keano confirmed - baffling team selection, selling some good players and falling out with others, and no apparent ability to motivate the team - just crap like "he'll never play for me again" etc.
  22. Botany Bay between Margate and Broadstairs
  23. I would recommend visiting Parc Guell and La Pedrera for Gaudi as well as Sagrada Familia. I would second Jeremy's vote for Gracia as a nice place to wander, in the day time as well as the evening - nice shops and a nice vibe. I would particualrly recommend a tapas bar called L'Anxoveta, on a side street off Gran de Gracia, and the bars and cafes on Placa del Sol. The Born is another area with lots of good bars - Txakolin is a very good for tapas. Barceloneta is good for eating seafood - I've eaten at 4 or 5 of the places on or around the main drag and they've all been good. From the posts above and also what I've heard, the Ramblas is best avoided these days - tourist tat by day and drunks, fights and crime by night.
  24. Worrall T because he is a loathsome c**t who signally fails to conceal his grasping egomaniacal awfulness behind a wafer thin and unconvincing veneer of roister-doister matey bonhomie.
