  1. What loz said basically, my advice too would have been too would be to go wired. I'm only on about 1.4 Mbits as I'm so far from the Brixton exchange on creaky old cable and creaky old exchange and that's fine for xboxing. Yep, like most things it's the snow meaning people are clogging up the virtual roads in the same fashion.
  2. Possibly. According to our IT people the Internet keeps going down. I had no idea it was a) in England and b) so susceptible to snow. Is there some IT equivalent of grit you can put on the Internet to make it work again?
  3. We suffered from a whole chunk of our squad believing their own hype the seasons after promotion and the only entertaining FA Cup final since the first world war. All have now gone and most have learned the hard way that a nice comment from Ferguson does not a champions league final playing career make. They all play for things like Villa and Fulham and Birmingham, none are at the top four despite thinking themselves bigger than our little (yes cute ground keef) club. I said good riddance at the time because talented or no these people upset dressing rooms, but I wish no ill will to them, reo-coker for instance is maturing nicely now and will feature in England midfields in his late twenties.
  4. I'd say 100% of programmers Ive worked with have shown some degree of aspergic behaviour. If they're ok to be employed in virtually every medium to large company and government then I don't see why it should mean they are free from being convicted of a crime. I'm split, he did what he did but is obviously being scapegoated, by kicking up a stink it'll only end up worse for him, but uneven extradition is a bad thing and also needs addressing. I'm with daizie, give him a job.
  5. I loved screamadelica back in my uni days. Saw it in Fopp a while back for three quid so rebought a long lost classic and decided it hadn't aged well. Maybe it's a stalwart with students to this day, but as a grown up I thought it really very dull. For the record I still think dark side of the moon is good, so maybe it's not just that I've changed.

  7. Hmm curious choices. I don't think coldplay should ever be honoured for anything ever. Didn't we manage a huuuuuge thread of album covers once?
  8. Bobs the closest on this one, at worst this is ill judged by a company who's primary but unintended Market is in a position to be offended in today's viral world. Though why an American would be interested in cricket I don't know unless it's being forwarded in order to encourage people to be offended in a daily mail 'shouting at your wife banned!!!!!! In france.....err maybe)' fashion. Personally I thought the implication that Germans all invade and are only following orders the most offensive out of all the things referred to in this thread. As a quarter german I stand by my right to dictate (oops) to others whether or not it is offensive even if they haven't the foggiest idea what I'm blithering on about.
  9. I think I may have suffered it just getting it on screen, iphone photo emailed to work, detatched and edited in paint to make the writing legible, uploaded to flickr then embedded in the post.......phew!!!!
  10. I'm slightly loathe to bring this thread up, but then this private eye cartoon made me laugh.
  11. Ok I'm curious now. Can someone take a census on the door? Can't come sadly so it'll have to be someone else. Be honest people, I can just see the average, median AND mode for the ladies being 21!! Would that he a standard deviation of 0?
  12. Indeed Loz. Whatever next, selling Allo Allo to the french and germans? Oh... Actually that article is a bit dodgy isn't it!!
  13. LB victoria loop limes are still trundling along if about 15 minutes late (which is a out 5 minuttes early thinking abut it)...
  14. One of my nicknames at school was melon, a luxury item back in those dim and distant days, served only at the most obsequiously aspirational middle class parties with a slice of equally exotic Parma ham. I guess because melons came from Spain. I never thought of it as a racist slur, unlike the moniker in big school from the scary kids 'fuck-off-you-deigo-Spanish-cunt' which on reflection probably has a tinge of it about it.
  15. In all fairness it is an advert for fried chicken, hence by definition is casting said product in a positive light, aimed at selling it to Aussies by portraying them as good blokes (said in heavy Aussie brogue). As Loz said, nothing to see here, move along. The inference of racism or political forum leanings is only with an unintended audience, and of course our Alan.
  16. IS it just me, I took it to be the Aussies slaughtering the windies hence the desire to appease, a bit like when I offer a winning smile to the home fans when west ham are thrashing the home side and a home stand ticket is the only way I could see the match. I had no idea about any connection between black people and fried chicken, I'm guessing it's a stereotype alien to this country. Hence I took this to be a pop at American insularity. You learn something new... as the old adage goes. Thinking about it, much as I have often sat amongst the home fans I have yet to need to put my appeasement strategy in to practice. It's giving me ideas for new ones though. Bring something really really boring to the Emirates, or the Guildford Examiner to Old Trafford?
  17. And just to clarify the proverbial straw infraction was under his BBW guise a little while back.
  18. The above have it jah, the ban is for the person not the persona. A point I made very very badly in my above post.
  19. Much as the eye was good value for money, he is still the same person regardless of different personas. There are more than just wolfie banned, we have some pretty nasty folk banned who persistently try to get around the ban with new users. Admin can't just go 'awww it's wolfie and he's being nice, oh I'll change the rules then'. I've had a private word with wolfie on well known site and said I have no personal beef but he broke the rules too often and rules is rules, but I'd be delighted to have a pint with him. I hateto get all school mastery but he's had an awful lot more chances than this one resultng in temporary bans akimbo, the last infraction broke the camels back.
  20. Peddling cheap anti-Americanism there AD? Shame on you!!!! ;-P
  21. Simulation versus arcade basically. Oblivion requires a bit of commitment for a half decent session, at least an hour I'd say. Fable 2 you can just pick it up and let it go willy nilly.
  22. They're really not that similar even though both are big RPGs. It's more like comparing IL2 Sturmkovich to Ace Combat respectively.
  23. You can borrow fable 2 if you like. Zero punctuations review of it is absolutely spot on, that said it's quite enjoyable if you ignore the ham fisted attempt at morality.
  24. We're hoping she'll be ok tomwalk down to be honest as midwife recommended the exercise (apparently walking one foot on path one on road is really good preparation) but if not then that is exactly the plan!!
  25. Brilliant, i don't even have to say it.
