  1. It took me a second
  2. Actually for once I'm with matthew. Tosspots who think their club is too big for these shores can fuck off as far as I'm concerne. Maybe the Asking price of a game or season ticket at cute little upton park might resemble something in the real world again.
  3. God, I even got bored reading that Matthew. Nope with keef on this one. Too many clubs, it used to mean something rather than a licence to print money. Should o ly be for champions, like it says on the tin.
  4. Weird. Didn't you notice when copying that stuff out of wikipedia that it didn't actually mention him being dead. Rumours of his demise etc.... Clearly satire is dead, I'm off to lilliput, I hear it's nice there.

    100s

think it's just holiday season. Everywhere is a bit quiet at the moment. As the heavens punish us, the winds begin to howl and the nights draw in there will be more ill and well thought out musings for us all to enjoy and those half centuries will inevitably wax towards a state of quids bestowed grace.
  6. I'm sure all three are looking down on this thread (well, it'd be difficult to look up to it lets face it) and hoping against hope that there might be a modicum more decorum on the forum. I'm a poet etc...
  7. That's wrong on a whole series of levels, not to mention brought back baaaad memories.
  8. Umbrella is just such a coverable classic. Didn't keef's band do one? Anyway not keef's band: http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=khWGbigjLy4
  9. Eek. Always remember to use a lenghty taper, light the bue touch paper and stand well back. Remember never to return to an unspent thread even if it looks like it's fizzled out.
  10. I blame the music. This rock and roll that they listen to encourages drug use and rebellion. I believe a guitar band called oasis make refernces to cocaine usage and the young singer britney spears is clearly inciting violence.
  11. Oh I know, the first time I saw them I almost cried(not n a good way). They're sooo rubbish. It's actually a really impressive stand on the inside. Especially with free beer and wine :)
  12. That's it, enough provocation from a charlton fan, come on then I'llaveyouyouwanger!!!!*jumps on to errrr text box arms spread wise, come hither gestures with fingers*
  13. There's a free trial on xbox live arcade. I gave it a try and it wasn't much cop. But I may be doing it a disservice.
  14. Having only really know. Donald Sinden from Never the Twain I was staggered when I recognised him in a film from the mid fifties called The Black Tent, the other day. He didn't have that silly voice (though he WAS very posh) and eh gads he was a handsome fellow. Terrible film mind, also notable for having a very young Donald Pleasance in an extrememly dodgy performance as his Arab side guide.
  15. Ha ha, brilliant woofster!! I raise a paw in salutation to that dog.
  16. Count me in. Do we get some of the local mutton too?
  17. And likes mr salmond even less than keef. Than keef does I should say. Private eye has yet to opine on our keef, he keeps his nose clean does that lad.
  18. I think it should he required readig by law frankly!!
  19. I quote like the place. I say that as someone about as scottish as FnB. This thing is so ridiculous, reminds me of the freedom fries thing. Especially as a)the sort of American who buys scotch is unlikely to give ashit about calls for a boycott (same ones who have doubtless been enjoying their scotch with an illegal cuban cigar) and b)he probably didn't do it anyway, any longterm reader of Private Eye knows there are a lot of unanswered questions that compassionate release rather than an appeal was designed to avoid.
  20. Yeah, I thought it was excellent too. Been ages since I'd been to the cinema and the whole place was laughing out loud.
  21. Oh good point Tea. I lived there for a year, had a lovely little studio by the Kaisergracht. One summer night I left the back door open. On waking I couldn't open my eye and thought 'funny, didn't have that much to drink, eye shouldn't have that much sleep. Went to bathroom and found John Merrick staring back at me. I'd been eaten alive and those canal Mosquitos are nasty and dirty. Had people staring at me the whole journey into work. I'd rung ahead to warn them I'd be late as was picking ip some antihystemines. Everyone took the piss but here was a nervous silence when I walked in. All to say, steer clear of houseboats. Some uttely delightful old world charming appartments in Amsterdam. Top place, red light district is tiny and so much to see outside of it. I can recommend some good eateries and some great bars. Little wizened old things and modrn ones with the beautiful people. Have a great time there.
  22. Personally I think it works well in chronological order. You can flow the ebbs and flows, witness strands digress then unite in concert. I find any software based around replies, especially with collapsing and expanding and substranding to be unusably bad. The forum does have some functionality to split threads or even merge them, but it doesn't work very well and splitting can be very artificial or even arbitrary and some people might find their voice suddenly stranded in a thread not of their choosing. I know it's far from perfect, but much of the popularity of the forum stems from it's simplicity of use and it's uncluttered nature. If it ain't broke...
  23. Oh good call. On the former there's a plum tree outside my door with enough plums to make about a thousand jam jars on it, tall ladder needed though. To follow Santerme's lead in going further afield, La Trucha in Madrid, proper old school madrile?os eating old school tapas.
  24. Sounding like literally an apple tree. Nit sure it counts as outside ED, but I guess it's a food supplier.
  25. I know, how, how?!?
