  1. Not to detract from CPT of course, fine pub good atmosphere. EDT is fine as long as you get there early and bag a table
  2. Hoopers is good if you want a bit of breathing space as CPT gets pretty busy for the footie.
  3. Fopp
  4. American politics got reduced to soundbites about twenty years ago. Picking apart complex issues bores people in short. Easier to scream about the evils of big government.
  5. I get the feeling sean, that the reason the debate isn't being conducted in the rational terms you describe is actually the goal of the health insurance industry lobby and pressure groups in cahoots with facets of the republican party. It's not unfamiliar to us, TLS uses the same tactics in order to keep the frame of a debate away from the real issues and exactly where he/they want it. Hence the cost of health care versus the real tax burden isn't being discussed nationally across the political dvide, it's the poor rubes who stand to benefit who are holding up their birth certificates demanding why abforeign Muslim is their president. I'm off to set up a medical ward in my log cabin and I'll be shooting at any UN black helicopters who try to take my private healthcare away from me dagnammit!!
  6. I think you're right moos, tace is the imperative of taceo, to be silent. Here's a very good site http://archives.nd.edu/latgramm.htm and oi j no! Not proper posh ;-) Just curious (gcse French was as far as I got)
  7. Of course of course, loqui to speak hence loquacious. My bad. Mind you doesn't the tace in this mean quiet (hence tacit). I think it means: "either shutup unless what you say is better than silence". I don't think there's anything about remaining or staying in it at all on second reading.
  8. Ralph Macchio had a weird disease that made him look young, he was in his fifties when he filmed Karate Kid, FACT!!!!!!!!!
  9. Let it go RC ;-) we're bigger than that ... And them obviously!
  10. I think that meliora means 'better' (mejor in Spanish) and I've a feeling silentio means 'silence' rather than 'silent'. Romans they go the house? You need a better man than I to come up with the correct phrase, but I've a feeling that loquere is the 'remain' part in aut tace aut meliora loquere silentio
  11. Does Timothy Claypole count as a Kung Fu master? RIP err twice over I guess.
  12. I dunno, my idea is more like http://cr.middlebury.edu/public/spanish/sp371/images/esperpento/goya_viejos.jpg
  13. Unlikely in current mood. Here's a ditty that some may like, I'm thinking Jah will at any rate. My mate met them when he was standing in for the Get Cape Wear Cape Fly drummer at a festival In Budapest the other night (amazing what can come of a conversation about music with a stranger in a pub). What if we'd never had punk (or something) by the King Blues Http://songza.com/~nhgfio and a little live solo in what looks like a record shop. Http://songza.com/~mrucv8
  14. Don't get me wrong MM, I blame Celtic not one iota, it's like blaming England when I see a St George flag at an international with the red hand on it (I had to explain this to my American mate when we watched the game at soldier field in Chicago a few years back). Ignorant wankers was my thought then as it was at the gig (I had no idea what it would be all about btw, not a pleasant surprise), as I said it's purely emotional flashback whenever I see a see of Celtic shirts. In the end word got round that there were two English lads there (I was travelling around Ireland with my brother and we stopped in at mrs mockers' family pile) and we couldn't buy a drink if we tried the rest of the night. Not to say there wernt some pretty nasty comments either mind. Anyway, no offence intended, may the best team win :)
  15. Ot strictly true, Celtic shirts have a pavlovian response for me after the missus dragged me to a Wolftones gig. As you can imagine it's not a good one. Go on the arse!
  16. It's on in the club house with great views of the real match. Beer cheaper than anywhere else too. Plus I really don't care about that one ;)
  17. " apparently 50% of aid to the developing world is stolen by corrupt officials, and 50% of the World Bank aid budget goes to consultants." while paying too much for MBA clone consultants is one of my pet peeves, the above statement is somewhat disingenuous. It implies an equivelancy between theft and profligacy which is rather over egging the moral outrage pudding isn't it?
  18. Three? I think you'll find it's six days til the Hamlets take in the might of Godalming!!
  19. Feeling, tired, drained, lifeless. Cheer me up people, happy or energetic. My attempt at self healing. Aztec - Spor
  20. Well said on both points keef!!
  21. See annaj? How can a scene with two beautiful, leotard clad women have all the sexuality and eroticism of an academic discussion on crop rotation. Weird.
  22. Our Bev Crusher was distinctly unsexy despite her rutilictricholia. Something about that whole programme was akin to waching all the unpopular kids at uni standing around at the most awkward party ever thrown, resolutelty failing to have any fun. Noone can be attractive in that environment. Compare that to, say Susan Ivanova in .... Oh I'll get my coat, I've a party to go to.
  23. Whew, until I read Jah's post I was under the impression that Moos had grown a beard, which I think would look a little odd. And don't go saying anything bad about the lovely Gillian, she can do no wrong, plus she's only five years older than me!!
  24. Oh hmmm, The Zombies and The Wu-Tang Clan. Has any band ever combined zombies and Kung Fu? If not can anyone of thenpeople proposing new bands round here please call themselves, errrr, Kung Fu Zombies?
