  1. Bolton v Everton 0-0 Fulham v Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool v Derby 2-0 Middlesbrough v Birmingham 2-1 Newcastle v Wigan 1-0 Reading v West Ham 0-1 (in my dreams) Man Utd v Sunderland 2-2 (that keano in old trafford effect) Arsenal v Portsmouth 1-0 Blackburn v Man City 1-2 Aston Villa v Chelsea 0-2
  2. Daisy Chainsaw!! Wow, that may have to be one for the back catalogue. Rather wish I'd seen Babes in Toyland, tell me you did Ant, pleeease.
  3. It can be a pretty rambunctious crowd in here sometimes, but I'd echo the welcomes and encouragement, and hope that you stick around long enough to start enjoying the experience. Sadly there have been quite a few dodgy and self-promoting posts in the past, so as usual it's the few spoiling it for the many. I ramble, in short a big HELLOOO and what do you think of Mr Liu's? I had a shocker there on tuesday.
  4. My best would be either Grandaddy at V when they were overwhelmed by the reception they got, or Flaming Lips at Kentish Town Forum (well, actually it's every Half Man Half Biscuit gig I've ever been to, but that apart). Worst would be Bright Eyes at Hammersmith Odeon. His fans were just insufferable tosspots. I actually had to leave after half an hour and go to a pub; much like Alan's Hard-Fi experience I now find it very hard to listen to his albums.
  5. Oh no Brendan, you'll start Bagpuss and Keef off!!!
  6. The one, the only, the hugely earwormy, the flumps Funny, I thought of the ones that really stayed with me, like the A-Team, Airwolf etc and thought I'd revisit V, and it's not stood the test of time, thought the eighties funk break in the middle is pretty cool. This one has, and the closing sequence still brings a lump to my throat, or do I still just fancy Colonel Wilma Dearing? Buck Rogers in the 25th century. The best of all time though has to be Wildtrack with Terry Nutkins using John Barry's Florida Fantasy from Midnight cowboy. Well, that or the 70s Animal Magic opening sequence, wahwahmoogtastic!!
  7. My god, so many Brighton haters in one place *wipes tear from eye*. I'd always felt so alone!
  8. Ha ha I was just thinking it'd been a while since the music room had a new tune. I give you Neko Case - Maybe Sparrow *sighs*
  9. Does anyone know if it accepts cards yet? One of my problems is that I always seem to be cash poor, and the thought of heading down to LL and back again for a pint is often a barrier to my popping along. Yeah yeah, if I thought ahead.....if wishes were fishes...
  10. I doubt it was the inventor of the sport as the irish were playing hurling when the Romans were bashing the Iceni on the head, but I could well believe it was a founder member of the GAA or somesuch. I've googled, but not alot to go on. If you get his name why not zap an email to [email protected] at the GAA, I'm sure they'd be delighted at your interest.
  11. Jah, celebrity BB is being dropped, but sadly Endemol are contracted to make it until 2010, 3 more of the horror shows still to come. Personally I was barely even aware it was happening this time, I only got sucked in once, but the "jade, have you been at the stupid pills again?" conversation actually almost made it worthwhile!!
  12. There are some great gigs coming up in november at the Camden Roundhouse, which is also an attractive venue as you don't have to battle for hours against thousands of 19 year old 'emo' kids for an overpriced pint of weak lager, unlike many venues I could mention. Sonic Youth the next couple of nights, Richard Hawley, stranglers, super furries coming up (beastie boys sold out), but ones I'll be going to are: Ojos de Brujo and Beirut anyone up for one, t'other or both?
  13. That there is, scares the willies out of me on a twilit morning. Very interested in going up there, always thought views would be magnificent. any excuse!!
  14. There you go, good to see you at the dangerous edge of London's 8 digit telephony frontier.
  15. BT is already dishing out nxxx xxxx phone numbers with 1-6 & 9 as the first digit, so eventually the phone number snobbery effect will be diluted. Actually it'll probably increase at the same time, "i've an 'original' 7 number darling, we've had this number since 1536"
  16. Bellamy too can play football on his day; heaven forbid even the Ferdinand's have been known to play classy football. But it's the inconsistency and laziness that comes with huge egomaniacal, spoilt brats that I take issue with. Give me a Solskjaer over a Bellamy, a Yossi over a Dyer a (Stuart) Pearce over a(n Ashley) Cole any day of the week.
  17. Or a vauxhall astra with ultraviolet neon under car lighting and a massive spoiler. Err...and a broken axle.
  18. Me too :'( Ilford!!
  19. As it's a few miles away I didn't think it appropriate for the other room, but this looks like fun Chilli, seafood and beer....for free in the East End!!! Brick Lane 1st-2nd September. http://www.tigerbeer.co.uk/chillicrab/
  20. Feist, on the Letterman show with members of Mates of State, The National, Grizzly Bear, A.C. Newman of The New Pornographers and Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning of Broken Social Scene. Feist - 1234
  21. That's because Yossi was a superstar. My Israeli colleague had dinner with him and said he's an polite, shy, unassuming lad too. That more or less somes up your average premiership player doesn't it :-\
  22. I'm with you Sean. The war and some hideous sixties and seventies developments were the end of London's traditional skyline. No point going backwards, so developments like the London Bridge regeneration can surely only be a good thing, they're currently some of the ugliest buildings in London.
  23. Would that be AnotherPaul perchance?
  24. Guns don't kill people, well actually they do, but you know, stupid people with gun fetishes and guns kill people. Though as long as they can kick a ball straight....
  25. I'd be inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt. Restaurant reviewing is a pretty common first post. I think she may be betraying the gods of chinese food, but not necessarily any nefarious motives.
