  1. "Disinterested", which isn't the same thing. I've often found them to be very friendly to their mates for 10 minutes while I'm waiting to get served.
  2. Doh, I'm having one of those mornings. Perhaps incitatus with that useful horse's mouth to hand, can offer us an update?
  3. After incitatus' assurances, our campaign momentum pretty much evaporated. That is good news though. Will they also be demolishing the weird ersatz facsimile behind it?
  4. PG4 *drools* Ojos de brujo!! no way, going to see them at the roundhouse. I'm still waiting for my ballot ticket to see beethoven, I hear he's the bees.
  5. > a traditional local butcher like W Head and sons was based at Peckham Rye for over 100 years, and was forcedto close due to a > lack of customers. William Rose jump on theorganic(sic) band wagon and exploit the gentrificaton of ED. I'm assuming it was forced to close by the lizards of the illuminati who hope to fulfil their destiny of world gov't by somehow exploiting gentrification? Even for you Louisa, that was as daft an assertion as I've seen. Did businesses start exploiting customers in the eighties by jumping on the good service bandwagon, rather than offering surly snootiness? The cads!! Shops don't earn enough money because people don't shop there. If William Rose happen to have a better business model and offer a good service and a good product then they'll be a success. I'm guessing that queues are indicative of that, rather than of some sinister subliminal exploitation of gentrificants.
  6. kicks off, ooooh, about second post down. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,27298,page=3
  7. LOL. loving your work fella B) Though, even with tongue firmly embedded in cheek, this isn't very MacGabhann. Come on, talk to pappa, what's up? *edited* aaaaah, just seen the other thread, it all becomes clear.
  8. Never really been a fan of the Doves. It's a big hit among my friends from over that way, that and the cambria, and I'm aware it's active in the community, has art and tha' and used to have the sexiest barmaid in existence a few years ago. But I've always found the staff disinterested (though occasionally thigh-rubbing inducing) and the food of clock house quality for clock house prices. Having got all that off my chest, nice garden. Oh and it's a pub. And the cherry is a bar, and green&blue used to be a wine shop, now I'm not entirely sure what it is, but I like i' alo'. Bishop? Ooh, I'll weigh in on bar, but juuust. Not sure it's a dictionary definition thing, more a hunch thing. And your hunch probably changes as you get older. To Louisa it's probably neither a pub or a bar; purgatory perhaps? ;-)
  9. I tend to right click and open in new tab. You'll need firefox, opera or IE6+
  10. and just to ease us happily into the last stretch of the boring boring working day. Psapp - Tricycle got a back cataloguer of theirs today for 2 quid at the camden second hand music emporium, Fopp who?
  11. Is there no end to human ingenuity? http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/secret-facilities/camouflaged-fridge-chills-hides-beer-at-the-office-299435.php
  12. I have been a proposing a level above the lounge, but you know, you might just have a point there captn. On a slightly more serious note, just cos it's in the lounge, doesn't mean we still can't try and find the right thread for the right post. Song lyrics in the music video room, 2 football prediction threads overlapping, a new thread for a bad joke* while we have a joke thread, noisy chatting in the *shhhh* quiet room etc. I'd post up the link about standard forum netiquette but I think my copy and paste keys have worn out. *In fact I think a certain young missy d started a thread of exactly the same ilk once.
  13. About as opposite as you can get Deerhoof - Come See The Duck (live) nutters!!
  14. Kevin Drew - Broke Me Up Of Broken Social Scene fame, his debut is out soon.
  15. I think you're missing my point, he doesn't perform regardless of who he's partenered with, your point does however still stand. AD, quite, luckily you can at the Hamlets!
  16. I do rate Lampard every bit as good as Gerrard, but the fact remains he never does it for his country. Weird, as I watched him at Upton Park for many years, and though he was always unpopular with the fans (lumplard, daddy's boy etc), he also consistently produced quality performances. With all his European experience he's pretty much the complete player at his role these days, so his lacklustre England performances remain a total mystery.
  17. Again, Ferdinand is someone who believes in himself and his ability rather than in his workrate. Can't fault Gerrard's work rate and commitment but you can Lampard's. I think we all agree that they play the same role, so I'd rather keep Gerrard in there. Barry has indeed been excellent. I was actually surprised how good Villa were in the game against Chelsea the other day as I generally deem them to be the most boring team in top flight footie; and though I consider Reo-Coker to be a selfish little sh!t, it was good to seem him almost back to his best, which will only serve to give McClaren future selection headaches, no bad thing.
  18. I think the camera is just wonky
  19. I've screaming "drop lampard" for about 2 years now. He doesn't really fit into the setup as is, and I've rarely seen him play with any heart. A spell in the cold can only do him and england good. I always said that Heskey was class *ahem*
  20. I've not been back, but then I've had a full calendar of late, and I've considered nights off to also be nights away from pubs. I'm looking forward to things returning to normality so I can enjoy a nice pint of ale there again.
  21. > was the number of "real fans", who left 10-15 mins before the final whistle. They must have experienced the old wembley without realising that the new one is a million times better for getting away from the damn place. They'll know for next time (or actually they won't as they won't have learnt the lesson that things aren't as bad now). AnotherPaul and I were there for the first ever competitive final *breaths on nails and polishes them on chest*
  22. Oh dear god spadetown. It sounds very very very wrong!!!!
  23. sorry:-$ Mmmmmmmmmmm marmite
  24. I think the hideous quantity and mix of booze we drank on your stag may have had a similar effect. My wee has certainly been frightening to behold of late!!!
  25. Something about the smell as it seeps out your pores, keeps them away apparently. "Some suggest that the consumption of Marmite can ward off mosquitos[9], the reasoning being that the skin gives off a scent, unnoticeable to humans, but which mosquitoes find unappealing, or that the vitamin B content wards off the flying pests. British travellers to tropical locations sometimes take Marmite with them to eat during the trip, although it has been shown that the B vitamin complex does not repel mosquitoes.[10]" [wikipedia]
