new gates for Camberwell Cemetery

My kids and I like to > explore new things . Try this Green Chain Walks. It incorporates part of the Capital Ring of which so far I've walked - in day long sections - from Woolwich around to Greenford. It's an "inner" London green walk almost all of it on paths, parks and bridle ways, avoiding roads. The Capital Ring complements the London Loop which is an outer London long distance walk - and at 150 miles quite a decent one. PS: Spotted the new gates this afternoon - agree they do look good. -
Where Were You When You First Heard John Lennon Had Died?

Just completing a naval training course, setting me on course for command and living in a flat I had borrowed from a mate who was at sea - I also had use of his MGBT. I was young, free, successful and single - life was good and I was getting up early for the penultimate day of the course when I heard it on the news at 6.00am. It was a moment when the soundtrack to my life changed. PS: I was watching TV, having arrived home from school and done my homework, waiting for a John Wayne B&W movie when I learned of Kennedy's death -
I have been happy with my iPhone but have experience some minor problems. Would appreciate advice on following: I use the phone to track my personal emails & calendars, via Mobile Me, and also my work emails & calendar, via MS Outlook. Following an undate and synchronisation I now have: A Mobile Me account - with mail, contacts, calendars, notes, Web bookmarks and other stuff 2 Personal email accounts - one with notes, one without A work account. I now receive duplicate copies of personal emails and duplicate calendar appointments. How do I optimise the set up to receive just one set of personal e-mails and calendar events?

The set and production was a technical triumph but overall not a recommended show.

Thanks - I'm getting 8Mb today

How do I measure my broadband speed? I'm with Virgin and find it both reliable and, apparently, speedy.

Mrs MM on a 363 but reports it's going to terminate at Peckham Rye. No 12 still running to Dulwich Library last time I was out (60 mins ago)
-
No 63 bus now terminating at Peckham Rye - cannot manage the turn a Forest Hill Tavern. Forest Hill Road by the tavern lights very slippery with cars sliding and not under control.

Well there's this thread and this one that demonstrate an interest in food - and I'm pretty sure there are a lot more as well. Just found this one too. The Marmora household cooks - my turn tonight so tonight's meal was quick and simple - home made leek & potato soup, 5 seed bread (deli) and some left over, upmarket, home made rice pud - made with added vanilla seeds, almonds and whipped cream - served cold with a warm home made cranberry sauce. Coffee & whisky will follow later as we watch the 10.00pm news. Not too balanced an evening meal but good on a cold day.

Not looking good - the best England can hope for is the draw.

nice and cosy bars/pubs/cafes to go on a daytime date-anywhere in London!

The V&A Museum is always worth wandering around - on a fine day a drink by the pool in the courtyard is nice. British MUseum has a good restaurant - and you can try to find the Radio 4 - 100 Objects which are scattered about the museum in different galleries. I always like The Flask in Hampstead after a walk on the heath. River trip to Greenwich (huddled inside drinking chocolate) followed by drink & meal at Trafalgar tavern looking out over the Thames. -

Agree entirely - but last year the Dog couldn't provide a Whisky Mac - first the name / drink wasn't recognised. When explained they discovered they had no ginger wine (which should ideally be Stones) but offered ginger ale as an alterantive - demonstrating no understanding of the concept. -
Still a closely balanced game. No centuries from either side - tho' Hussey does look well set. Two quick wickets and England could start their second innings with a slight lead or small deficit.

The Tory Boy caricature misses a whole lot of Michael Gove's background. Adopted at 4 months by a fishmonger and his teaching assistant wife MG was initially educated in the state system, only moving out of it by virtue of being bright enough to win a scholarship to a local public school - he and his family no doubt following the good Scottish tradition of revering education. As a journo he was a Labour supporting striker. Not sure when or what prompted his Damascene conversion to conservative sense but to pillory him as a member of the elite classes is both ill informed and pointless.

And they've just got better! I should have stayed in bed and not switched on the radio.

Sean & Emerson C - note that the "great" Robert Peston has pointed out that the UK bail out of Ireland may cost UK nothing, r even make a small profit. As UK is better placed in terms of creditworthiness it can borrow at 1.5% and lend the money at 5% to Ireland - netting a 3.5% benefit over the two year term of the loan. Arbitrage is a great idea. So it is in UK's interest to assist Ireland in its travails, quite apart from ensuring that the much larger sums (circa ?80bn) owed to UK business (principally banks)are repaid and that the annual UK exports to Ireland of circa ?25bn continue.
-
It's exposed the logical flaw behind EMU but will nor, yet, lead to the collapse of the Euro. One more "bail out" might just be affordable by the EU - probably Portugal, but if it extends to Spain then I'm sure we'll see a "northern euro" (aka the Deutsmark) and a softer "southern euro" (aka the Drachma). UK debtor balance with Eire is approx ?80bn - so a short term ?6th to bail them out makes sense. No such probs with Portugal or Spain.

I use varifocals - costs vary from Specsavers c?500l (includes lens, frames and often a second "free pair") to C ?900 at an independent opticians with Nikon lens and designer frames. So your ?318 right As to getting used to them - first day can feel a little woozy as eyes adjust, but after a short while it settles down and you become used to them. The lower half is the "reading" half which can mean having to tilt head back a touch more when using a PC - adjusting PC screen height and angle can resolve this.
