giggirl replied to Bic Basher's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Lane Lover - remind me to come and have a really good laugh some time at your expense. Prick. -
"Have you said a prayer to St Anthony" - I think that's my mother talking circa 1975

Great Bars of the World. Cayote Ugly ... Hogs and Heifers
giggirl replied to Mick Mac's topic in The Lounge
Oh yes MM, I spent a rather interesting night in that bar in New York. There was a megaphone behind the bar, the staff periodically set the bar alight with alcohol and then danced on it. Does this sound familiar MM? Same bar as you? Meat Packing? I had a little dance myself but I kept all my clothes on. All of them. Did you remove anything yourself MM? I wouldn't say it was one of the best bars in the world but it was a great night out. We stumbled on it completely by accident and we spent the night, drank a lot of beer, and things became a little loose. We walked all the way home to Chelsea and slept until noon. -
This morning - the green opposite The Rye pub

Very very sad. -
Ha - seems I'm not the only one for whom Taytos are a secret pleasure. No wonder the Irish shop is still in business.
-
My guilty pleasure. Tayto Irish crisps! Yum. https://www.taytocrisps.ie/

Ah right. He's very good at getting you started off in a language when you know nothing at all. Aside from being a language guru, Michel Thomas was a fascinating guy. He was a member of the French Resistance and spent much of the war in the camps, which is where he honed his language skills.
-
This guy gets some amazing results http://www.michelthomas.com/learn-french.php You can buy also buy on Amazon and, I would imagine, used on ebay. He's something of a language guru and you could try doing his short course and then going for some one-on-one conversations, either as part of a holiday or on a local course.

I use one of these; they don't know what's hit them. Clean and efficient. http://www.johnlewis.com/dyson-dc34-animal-handheld-vacuum-cleaner-purple/p231253632

Barry Road is the worst. I don't mind little kids who aren't normally going fast. I don't even mind their parents. Teenagers and adults - they are going fast and I do mind and it is dangerous when they're behind you. "Keep 'em peeled doesn't work for those of us without eyes in the back of our heads".

What's HOP/FH?

What a relief. Thanks so much for caring so deeply first mate. Can't help but be concerned that this adorable little dog is being sent back to the pricks that left her to fend for herself.

series 1 - Little House on the Prairie meets 28 days later - moderately entertaining Subsequently, as life was harder and decisions tougher, the characters became much more interesting.

Would it help for someone else to report it to the RSPCA? Happy to help in any way I can. PM me if it's easier. I live close.

Apologies for going off topic but muffins78 has just made a statement that really can't be allowed to stand. Monthly donations are the life-blood of charities and it would be a very bad thing for people to read that comment and then stop monthly giving. The important thing is not to use a middle-man (i.e. a chugger who stops you on the street to sign up, or a phone call at home). If you want to donate to any particular charity then Google the charity, find its home page, and donate direct so that the charity receives 100% of your donation with no fees going to a middle-man (and your tax back too if you're a tax-payer). The same goes for direct debits; sign up directly from the charity's home page. If you have signed up to a charity via a third party then I would encourage you to cancel that direct debit and start a new direct debit directly with the charity. If you aren't sure how you first signed up then phone the charity to discuss. Apologies again for the hi-jaking.

I've been clicking on this thread all day looking for a positive update. Not that impressed with RSPCA so far. Really hoping for some good news soon.

New entrance to Denmark Hill station
giggirl replied to youandiaredominoes's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I don't use the station but I pass by and it's ugly. As a non-user I guess I had been thinking "oh well it's ugly but at least it's serving a purpose". Apparently not even. How sad to make a building ugly without achieving anything for the users. -
Bit of a tangent coming. I'm guessing most of you guys are on Netflix for this. Louis Theroux's "The City Addicted to Crystal Meth" makes interesting companion viewing.

To say that they're anti-heros is an understatement of course. But somehow, against all the odds, they've (mostly) managed to keep the audience on side. I can imagine the writers sitting in a room and discussing how far they can push things before the audience demands their demise. I have a respect for people who do what needs to be done and get on with it. To a point. People work at boring jobs to feed their families. They don't like it but they suck it up. We all understand that's what needs to happen. Same thing in Breaking Bad. And then it escalates. Walt starts out just wanting to make things OK for his family and we're all on "Team Walt". We're all on side. Then people start to get hurt. Lots of them. Every time Walt or Jessie do something "bad" then we stop and take the temperature and mostly think "well I can see why you did that and it had to be done". So they're doing things that you don't like, but you grasp their desperation (Jesse shooting Gale, Walter strangling Krazy-8); so you're still on side. My turning point was when Walt let Jane die and he did not need to do that; he could have saved her. But my big, jaw-dropping moment, when I came off "Team Walt" forever, was when that episode finished with the close up of the lilley of the valley plant. That was Walt manipulating Jessie; he did not need to do that and that child did not need to suffer. I don't think Tyler's that pleasant either. I haven't got the measure of her but I don't like her and have never warmed to her. There's something Shakespearean about Walt. He's come a long long way from high school to kingpin: I am in blood Stepp'd in so far that, should I wade no more, Returning were as tedious as go o'er.

I haven't got the patience for ebay; either as a buyer or a seller, but there's a lady on ebay who sells my stuff for me when I have a clear-out. She sells high-end designer and there's not much she doesn't know about her niche or about ebay. Her name is Emma and here is a link to her auctions. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/stylesequellondon/m.html?item=251306171912&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 She lives in Kennington.

Hank's lightbulb moment at the end of the last series was an awesome cliffhanger. It's not going to end well for Walt and Jessie is it.

Good game, and if you get to the end, like what I did, you get to hear the Library Disco song. Everybody shush now. http://toys.usvsth3m.com/write/
