  1. Quids you're like the man counting the stars from the Little Prince and I loved reading the Little Prince so now I'm feeling some joy.
  2. Robbie is an excellent performer. I wouldn't go out of my way to see him (not even if he was playing at the EDT) - but he's got all the right moves. I saw him at the Roundhouse last year*, which is a very small space for him. He was nervous as hell but he did a good job. He doesn't press any buttons for me but I can totally see what the appeal is. I've got a soft spot for Take That though and could definitely snog Jason Orange. Or Howard. They're hot. * I so didn't want to go see Robbie but my bitches did and I had to go to sign them in on the night. Spent most of the evening at the bar with all the blokes who'd gone with their WAGs and were miserable.
  3. Well there's certainly some tumbleweed blowing 'round the Hoochie thread. Where is he?
  4. I think you'll find that the Philistines worshiped Baal*. Or somebody. In the words of Bob D, "You?re gonna have to serve somebody". Back on topic - pope's a wanker. * I'm available for pub quizzes
  5. I don't eat bread on a day-to-day basis but toast is one of my "treat" foods. Perversely, my favourite toast is made from ordinary, cheap white bread - with a smear of melting butter. Gorgeous. Hotel breakfasts tend to be nothing special. They cater for large numbers and it shows.
  6. Ticket sales were very poor for this. They were offering 20% discount on the gold circle tickets at the end of last week - says it all really. I haven't got a telly so haven't watched. Shame though - and it's not all Z listers - there are some decent acts - nothing that appeals to me per se but decent if you like that sort of thing.
  7. Well this is a depressing thread MickM. What's got into you. Basically, running is wrong, wears out your knees and (as someone has already pointed out) joggers always look miserable. A gentle stroll down Bond Street is much more becoming. The cardiovascular element kicks in when you tally up how much you've spent.
  8. I didn't know where else to put this post so please forgive. Personally I think Russell Brand is highly entertaining and although Jonathan Ross is not a favourite I reckon this could be a seriously fun evening: a night at the Hackney Empire with Brand & Ross. http://www.hackneyempire.co.uk/27/whats-on/now-showing.html It went on sale 10 minutes ago and seats are flying. I've got mine and I'm looking forward to it. Plus the Hackney Empire is a fabulous venue. Let's get out more ED! Pxxx

Brandon Flowers playing Brixton next month. Presale now, here: http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_london&query=detail&event=408204&interface=o2priority Kings of Leon return to O2 (yes, dreadful I know) in December for their new album. Presale probably tomorrow morning at 9am. Px
  10. ClareC - I'm getting a Smeg. Where did you buy yours? I would like mine delivered to my kitchen, if that's not too much to ask (or even if it is).

Has anyone heard of Rumer? She's a local girl (Herne Hill) and she's doing a benefit at the Half Moon for the British Red Cross to aid flood victims in Pakistan. The gig is next Friday (10th September). Tickets are only ?12.50 and that includes food. What more can you ask for ?12.50? http://links.mkt1397.com/servlet/MailView?ms=MzU3MjUwMzcS1&r=NTczMDg0OTQ5MAS2&j=ODAzMTQ5MDUS1&mt=1&rt=0 If you're planning to go then please PM me so I can say hi. James, I first moved here over 20 years ago to a garden flat in Melbourne Grove and I was broke and living from pay day to pay day. Looking back now I was well and truly on the breadline. I wouldn't buy anything on credit so had to save up to buy anything. I actually had no furniture in my flat at all but I felt so good about being on the property ladder. I bought a cheap vacuum cleaner (that I had to save for) and somebody broke in and stole it and a stereo (that didn't work). I was completely devastated. It was only a cheap vacuum cleaner but I had saved hard for it and couldn't afford to replace it and somebody had violated my home and I had to pay someone to fix the window. It really really sucks. We've all been there (unfortunately). So please come tomorrow night to the drinks at EDT and be bought a drink or two as a proper welcome to ED. Pxx
  14. I feel let down Mick Mack. I totally believed in him and I felt let down.

    Great Gigs

Here's a pre-sale for a nice set of gigs next month (mostly at the Forum in NORTH London, unfortunately). I can highly recommend Paolo Nutini - great voice. Presale starts 9am tomorrow and I wouldn't hang about. http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/promo/eqb0x6?camefrom=CFC_UK_QPRESALE_VARIOUS_0109 If anyone is interested in seeing Brandon Flowers (not my cup of tea) then his gig at the Forum is on sale on Friday morning. The presale has sold out. Come on ED, let's switch off those TVs and get out more. Pxxx
  16. I'm coming. There will be no clevage on show and I've bought a minimiser especially.
  17. Well done Drxyster. Like you, I'll take my business elsewhere. I'm glad that the OP posted this as I wasn't aware it was an issue and I'm doing a lot of buying at the moment. Leaving stuff on the kerb is thumbing its nose at customer service. If it costs more money to deliver heavy goods inside of the home then I'm happy to pay, or at least to be offered the choice to pay. If the only service on offer is kerbside delivery then I'll go elsewhere.
  18. Dear God Jrussell stop patting yourself on the back - that's just embarrassing. I don't know whether you're a troll or not, as, to be perfectly honest none of your threads have drawn me in, so I haven't engaged with you. Your style does not appeal to me. But congratulating yourself of this ridiculous thread is cringe-worthy.
  19. John Lewis is always my first point of call for anything my house needs. It's not just price - it's service and choice and basically it's an all round pleasant experience.
  20. I just had a phonecall from the Conran Shop (delivered to me last Tuesday morning). It was the shop - not a call centre. They wanted to check that everything was OK, that I was happy with the delivery service and that I was happy with my purchases (one of them was made to order). OK so Conran is towards the upper end of the scale but it's still excellent customer service. The other shop I bought from (Dwell) bent over backwards to find a delivery spot on a Saturday and I couldn't fault them. Now I'm in the market for a new kitchen and a new bathroom (and tiles etc for both). Does anyone have any recommendations? I want a good product (obviously) actually delivered to my house (because I don't think that's too much to frigging ask!). Px

So sorry James. That sucks. Basically, what Sean and Candj said. Beef up security and get your stuff marked. Come to the CPT drinks on Friday - you defintely need something to make you feel better!
  22. How old? Surely not. Happy birthday Brum. Pxxx
  23. This is very worrying since I'm just beginning a major refurb of my house. I hadn't even seen delivery as being an issue but since it is I'll be sure to only buy from companies that deliver into the house. I've recently had two heavy deliveries and on both occasions two delivery men turned up and went out of their way to do a great job. I bought a very heavy glass desk from Dwell (I can't lift it) and even with two delivery men it was hard work. I also bought some furniture from the Conran shop and that was brought inside with no fuss. Thankfully I'm a big John Lewis fan and I can't see John Lewis dumping things on the kerb any time soon. I don't think kerbside delivery is acceptable. How are people going to manage who are less able-bodied? If delivery of heavy items costs more then, fine, charge more. Now I think about it I may have paid an extra delivery cost to Dwell for the desk. I'm OK with that. If the only option was kerbside delivery I would walk away and I would make sure the manager of that store knew why the sale had been lost.
  24. Just say no then PN. Let them know that they lost a sale because you couldn't make their terms and conditions work for you. Of course their delivery people can enter your house - they've been entering people's houses for decades.

    Great Gigs

I'm flagging up this Grinderman gig at the Coronet because it's just up the road, a bus ride away (apart from it being a good band that is). On sale today, here: http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_london&query=detail&event=406776&referral_id=tw_uk_buyat
