Know exactly who you mean. I think they live at the bottom end of Whately, have seen them hanging out the window of a house on many an occasion with lager in hand and music blaring. I think there are 3 of them, all very similar looking. I'm always a bit scared to make eye contact!

My sister-in-law was visiting Chiswick, loaded her kids in the car and drove off leaving her buggy on the footpath. Realised minutes later, retraced her steps, and it was gone. Dangerous place! If she'd done the same in ED it would have still been there, it wasn't a Bugaboo or Phil 'n' Teds, so no re-sale value on the buggy black market...

Amott Road PreSchool - possible closure....
Pickle replied to clux's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I really hope they get some support drummed up in the area, it would be a shame to see it close when there's so much demand locally for childcare. Unfortunately my little boy isn't old enough yet, that's a shame. -

The price seems incredibly reasonable! Seems very strange that it's not full (although I guess many around the area look for full time care rather than part time). What age do they take children from? -
New gym on LL - do you need to subscribe?
Pickle replied to Crepe Suzette's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There's a creche facility at Fusion (ED Leisure Centre) - I've never used it, so can't tell you what it's like, but I think it's mornings only. -
Wow, that's scary! Wouldn't it be great if it was live?!?!

Well done Paul & Dan for reading the forum and taking the criticism in such a professional way. When we moved to ED (4+ years ago) Sea Cow was our firm favourite, but like others we started to feel the quality of the food & service was slipping, so haven't been in for quite a long time now. I'm really impressed with the way in which you've responded to everyone on the forum, and we'll definitely be in soon to give you another try. I don't think I've ever eaten coley, but I'll give it a try! Well done guys, and good luck! p.s... I'm from NZ, and in my local fish & chip shop there if you just ask for "fish" you get shark. Not sure what type of shark, but it's really tasty! Everything there is always freshly cooked to order, which is how it should be!

I had a baby at Kings last January, and am booked to have another there in June! I thought they were great. I had complications, meaning I spent 3 nights in the labour ward prior to giving birth... nothing was a problem for them, they made me comfortable, were happy for my husband to be there at all hours and were generally really nice. Birth itself was fine - lovely midwives and we also got given the option of having a student present (which I highly recommend, as the student will stay with you the entire time). I stayed in the ward afterwards for 2 nights. The staff there are busy, so it's hard to get attention - but in my case I was quite happy to be left to my own devices. We had a few follow up appointments which we were also impressed with.

Hi there, I have a 1 year old and live in East Dulwich. Probably all areas are equally as good in terms of things to do with a baby, although there are a lot of activities in and around East Dulwich in particular - music groups, play groups, Mum & baby times at local pubs - and there's also a growing number of baby/children related shops opening up. Personally I would say East is best, but then I'm biased! I would say you're better being near Lordship Lane in terms of facilities etc., but then Dulwich isn't really that big, so no matter where you end up you'd be a reasonably short walk away. Good luck with your move.

I'm an ED Mum (Bugaboo owner, I'll admit it, but I think that's where the stereotypes end - the only reason I got one was because they were highlighed in Heat mag about 4 years ago!!), and have donated a few baby clothes to St Christopher's over the last year. I usually read the anti-Mum brigade posts with interest, and disagree... but in the case I couldn't agree more! I ONCE thought I'd have a rummage through the boxes (figured I was donating decent stuff, so there must be decent stuff in there every now and then) and literally got elbowed out of the way by a couple of other women who were determined they were going to have first pick! And you're right, they were "posh birds", dressed like they were about to go to a flash party (11am, weekday). I decided I wasn't that desperate for baby clothes and left them to it. Have never dared try again!

Thanks guys, I've dropped the SCB an email. Worth a try! If I had my time over again I'd play something slightly less over-subscribed!!!

If you run round the road, it's 1 mile. Round the outer circle (which I think is the dog walking track) is about 1.2 miles.

Dulwich Nurse a Marsden Hero...
Pickle replied to jumpinjourno's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I saw a girl I know on TV shaking Prince William's hand on an item about the Royal Marsden fire - she's a nurse and lives in East Dulwich so I'm assuming it's the same person. Her name is Bethan (not sure it's appropriate to post her surname on the forum!), she's quite a young nurse, used to attend a class I ran in the area. -
I play flute & piccolo, LTCL standard (although haven't played for about a year). Interested in playing classical stuff, so let me know if anything starts up!

Sorry that Oscar hasn't returned home yet... here's hoping someone will spot him for you and he'll be home for Xmas.
-
Don't give up hope guys, I'm sure Oscar will turn up safely any day now just as Mika did last night. Even if he's locked in somewhere he'll still be fine - the cold weather works in their favour as it means they don't need as much water etc. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, as know how stressful it is! Dark grey fluffy tabby missing Upland Road - HOME SAFELY!
Pickle replied to Pickle's topic in The Lounge
Thanks to everyone who took time to read my post... after a weeks absence Mika arrived in our bedroom at 1am this morning - we have no idea where he's been, he seems fine, just a bit hungry! He's now curled up happily beside me enjoying the luxury of central heating. Pippa -

Still no sign of Mika, not even any response to my posters & leaflets... any news, whether good or bad, would be welcomed. Many thanks, Pippa -

We do live quite near Piermont Road, yes. I'll put some posters up there today, thanks. -

Yes, the local vets and rescue centres know he's missing... one of the benefits of having him microchipped is that we were able to report him lost to the microchip company, and they then put out notices to all the relevant local centres etc. I'll put up some posters further afield tomorrow, thanks for your message. -

Thanks Jennys, we'll widen the search in the next couple of days. I've been door knocking today following up on my notices, but still nothing. -

Just to update, I walked along Oakhurst Grove today and saw the cat Libra Carr mentioned - it does look very similar to Mika, but unfortunately isn't him. Thank you anyway for the information, much appreciated. If anyone else sees that cat (it's very friendly!)... Mika is bigger and fluffier, and also a bit darker in colour in the body. Many thanks -

Thanks Libra Carr, I'll check it out today - that's quite a long way from home, but worth a try! -
Count me in.

We will be putting leaflets through doors in Upland Road, Crebor St, Underhill Road tonight and also notices on lamp posts. Please let anyone know who lives in the area to keep an eye out for him. The most likely scenario is that he's locked in a shed, but as he's so timid it's unlikely that he'd come out while a stranger was around... if you live in the area please leave your shed open for half an hour or so just in case. Thanks, (a very stressed) Pickle
