Loving the new surface. Hating the getting to this point, but never mind now. Glad the Council is writing to TW, although doubt it will make much difference. Hope I'm wrong.

Interesting post Cllr Hamvas, I enjoyed reading it. As someone who lives at the current end of the 63 route and uses HOP quite often, I have never and will never use the P12 to reach HOP. Reasons: you have to climb the hill with bags/buggies etc. anyway to get it; you then have to wait for it - almost certainly no time saving and it could take quite considerably longer than walking; as a PAYG user, you then have to pay for it! However I would use the extended 63 with bags or in the rain because it goes from very close to me to a train station with direct trains to London Bridge, East Croydon and so Gatwick or Brighton, the Jubilee line at Canada Water, Hammersmith and C and District at Whitechapel, other NR and and Overground and Vict line at Highbury and Islington etc. Renata Hamvas Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Dear all, > a couple of people have highlighted the campaign > to extend the 63 bus to Brockley Rise, just past > Honor Oak Park station. Think the reasons given against the Lib Dem campaign were that it would cost loads of money and there isn't space for a turnaround/stopover space etc down by HOP. As someone who lives next to the last stop of the line and uses HOP a lot, I would love for it to be extended! Would also mean more elderly visitors could use HOP rather than having to endure the 63 all the way from E and C or further north. And much as I think the 63 is a good route, I do think endure is the right word.

The value differential: ED vs Nunhead & The Oak

Oh hurrah, many thanks for this. Let's hope they don't change it. mrcee Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Yes it is definitely planned to stop at HOP, you > need to look at page 113 of the South London Rail > Strategy > http://www.networkrail.co.uk/browse%20documents/ru > s%20documents/route%20utilisation%20strategies/sou > th%20london/south%20london%20rus.pdf > > It shows that Honor Oak will be served with the > below trains in morning peak (please bear in mind > in 2018!) > - 2 trains per hour terminating at London Bridge > - 10 trains per hour on East London Line > - 4 trains per hour on Thameslink (Blackfrairs, > Kings Cross etc) > - 2 trains per hour to Victoria > > The only realistic way for HOP not to benefit is > if they scrap Thameslink altogether however I > think thats been secured now and they have already > started works at blackfriars, LB etc. > > As i said I am biased but i do like both areas, > you cannot go wrong with either. Yes, it's a bit weird. I ended up doing the survey but also sending extra comments (the survey questions are pretty narrow) to [email protected]. Had a nice response back.

The cycle training from Southwark was absolutely brilliant when I had it. The weather - having grown up in the north and lived in Scotland, I assure you it's a darn sight better down here!

I've cycled Mundania-Great Portland St tube area for 2 years and it's 40 mins if I'm lazy, 35 with a bit of effort and 30 if I'm mad for it. 25 to Baker St is madness, I tell you, madness! But it saves me at least ?700 a year, including bike maintenance, keeps me way fitter than I'd otherwise be and gives me the totally unbeatable freedom of a bike in town at lunchtime/after work. I shower at work each morning. If forced onto pub(l)ic t by having to wear a suit I like the East London line and then whichever Tube or a cycle/walk/bus to P Rye and then Thameslink. Even had a table and four seats to myself on the Thameslink back the other day! But in general cycling is the way forward for me, hopefully for many years to come.

Network Rail London and South East RUS While about it why not comment on the London and South East rail utilisation strategy? Obviously there's the future of the existing rail services in the area to consider in responding to these things, but I think the future's important too - Bakerloo line extension, what will come in the place of the South London Line once it's axed, protecting the Thameslink service frequency through Peckham Rye etc etc.

How funny - I'd thought this was just me, but I've had the same thing happen (just the once, but I only use London Bridge mainline station about once a year). New gates and readers here we come. clux Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Thank you Barry > > One little thing that has now been niggling me for > a year - when i travel to London Bridge on the > train and then swap to the underground i have to > go through the large gate that a member of staff > has to open for me as i have a pram with me. > EVERYTIME i swipe my oyster card there it thinks > i'm going out not in and fines me. Waitrose or M&S TYPE supermarket - do we want one on LL?

Aha! Hadn't appreciated this. Hurrah. Also dawned on me last night as I rode the line that once phase two opens I and my bike will, when working late and so knackered, have the exciting choice of cycling from H O Park or from P Rye. The roadworks on Rye Lane are truly epic. I too was on a bus that chucked us all off before it, only to be passed by another as I trudged down Rye Lane. The road surface is absolutely awful. The pavements are far too narrow to support the number of people walking on them and the number of shops in that area. The delivery van situation is absolutely chaotic. The station is badly sited. The bus facilities are very poor. The cycle lane at the north end is a farce - albeit better than what was there before GAH! Tomorrow I will, again, be walking from home to P Rye station rather than getting the bus which should be going from my flat to that station. GAH!

Am I being dense, but how's it going to help with Welwyn?! Jumpin - presumably FH/HOP to Canada Water and then one stop on J line. jo77 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Brilliant! Thanks for this info. Loads of people get off at C Water always, but then a fair few get off at Whitechapel and Shoreditch in my experiences. Having a link to the Vict line and to North London Line and other trains at H and I will be great. Wish the link to Clapham J, when it opens, could include a stop at Brixton so we could get at the Vict line (and get a seat!) there!! Incidentally, tip that someone gave me and hadn't dawned on me about Whitechapel - instead of waiting for the first H and City train to come, which can be an absolute age, get on the first District (much more frequent) to T Hill and then onto the Circle. Usually quicker, I've found. The H and City line really is the dark ages. Final random bit of wittering - I'm utterly in love with the P Rye - Farringdon link. Coming home the other night I had a table and four seats all to myself as we cruised across London, with spectacular views, in only a few mins. And it was 6.35pm. Magic.

I'd love to see something like this in ED. Have you looked at the film programme at Dulwich Picture Gallery? Great e.g. of what can be done with a DVD projector and a function room. It's A Wonderful Life in colour just before Xmas with homemade food, all proceeds to the Gallery, was fantastic.

But that's not end to end journey time. Train to new > cross takes 5 mins No it doesn't! New X is on the other branch of the ELL so you'd have to go to S Quays and change. If you mean New X Gate it still doesn't - and again this is on the train timing, not inc the time you've had to wait for it. and u pick up the train to > Brighton that left LB. I find it quicker than > either ED to LB or bus to Denmark Hill then train > to Victoria as I live near the Plough. I'm not surprised as both those options have you heading north when Brighton is due south!

Surely going to LB or Vict is madness when you can get fast trains from E Croydon or N C Gate? And as for getting the 197 to E Croydon, forget it. I did it once in the dead of night and it STILL took absolutely forever.

yes, great pictures. That woodcock's what I saw, without doubt. Always wanted to see a waxwing.

Update from my parents on the woodcock: "Watched Autumnwatch last night and they reported that strong winds from the NE have blown in many woodcock from Norway." So that would seem to explain it - as a kindly forumer PM'd me; you were right.
