"Something must be done, this is something, let's do it" is more the usual approach. And public acceptance is entirely dependent on what question you ask! So is there any actual scientific evidence or stats to back the cost/benefit ratio, comparing it to, say 25mph or 15mph?
  3. For a similar sized house, we used to get a cleaner in for 3 hrs/week, but one of those was spent ironing (bliss!). She used to do heavy areas like the kitchen every week and the less used areas every alternate week. Worked pretty well.

Well, yes, that bit is pretty inarguable.

Most sexist/racist/whatever tosspot opinions usually have an 'element of truth', but it's rarely an acceptable excuse for having them.

  9. It's strange - I love wine, but burgundy has never really rocked my boat. Most Pinot Noir's, for that matter. Give me a good Bordeaux-style blend, preferably from Oz, any day.

  14. In Australia, they add fluoride to tap water and have done for many decades. AFAIK, levels of "depression, weight gain, hair loss, dry skin" are not higher in Oz than the UK. I seemed to have survived the experience, and have all my own teeth as well. The anti-fluoridation bunch are just another set of tinfoil-hat health nutters.
  15. Or, if you have a mouse with a wheel that doubles as a button (most do), push the wheel.

  17. I rather like RPC. We don't agree on a few things, but that's life on the forums. She usually a good read.

I don't think they intend to sell them to actual Italians.
  21. I knew Narnia = Declan, but not Alan Medic = Narnia = Declan.

Shakespeare. I've seen a few, but it just doesn't seem to float my boat. And ditto with opera, though at least I can enjoy the spectacle with opera.
