    Greece...

Tsipras: "We kept Greece standing and dignified?. I'd hate to see what he'd class as "pants down and embarrased".
  3. I believe Virgin is the only company that allows you to take broadband without a landline.

  5. This one is probably the best: http://www.speedtest.net
  6. I've said it before, but if the law was changed so that councils had to pay drivers the amount of the fine if an issued ticket was found to be incorrectly issued, then the problem would lessen considerably. At the moment, there is absolutely no incentive for a council not to issue incorrect tickets.
  7. Have you tried checking to see if it your wireless or your broadband. If you have a network cable, plug your laptop straight into the Superhub and check your speed. If it's fine, then it is your wireless. If you have a new hub try switching to 5G or, if not, try changing the channel the signal broadcasts on - you probably have a clash with a neighbour.
  8. I think the loading bay one is cut and dried (i.e. tough cookies), but as someone said above, what evidence do they have for the 50cm one. That one may be worth pursuing with the adjudicator, as they have to prove their case (does the photo show this??). Depending on the wording of the infraction, you might also be able to ask for proof you obstructed traffic.
  9. "Brand New in box"? Contradiction in terms, shurely?

    Home insurance scam

I've had this experience. Me: Hi, my insurance with you is up for renewal. I've just been on a comparison site and I notice that I can get my exact same insurance with you for ?200 cheaper. Why have I been sent the higher renewal amount? Call Centre: I'm afraid that is a different department to this one. They offer different prices. Me: Well I'd like you to price match... um... yourselves. CC: I'm sorry, I can't offer you that price. As I said, that's if from a different department. All you can do is purchase a new policy and allow this one to lapse. Me: I'm allowed to do that? CC: Oh. yes. Nuts.
  11. I guessed it was Oz a few weeks ago, but for all the wrong reasons. I figured that, while she stayed at Sandrine's parents, Oz and Sandrine started a lesbian relationship and Oz went batcrap crazy when she ended it to try and reconcile with husband. Oh well, there's my career in criminal investigation over. I did see Laure getting stabbed coming, though. They had to get rid of b?b? somehow.

Is is somehow anti-feminist to fund raise by offering something you actually like doing? Why is that more unacceptable than another MP offering dinner at their home? Does it matter that that MP is male or female? Or a afternoon jogging with another MP? Does that matter if that one is male or female? Surely none of that is worse than putting your most senior female MP behind a kitchen table in a pink Barbie van?
  14. I hate mornings when my glasses aren't where they usually are, as I need my glasses to find my glasses. It's a vicious circle.
  15. I think just moved from "50 things that men should know" to "50 Shades of RPC".

Can you not align it to an NTP server?
  17. > The shores of the Bodensee (or whatever it's called in English) Lake Constance. RyanAir used to fly to Friedrichshaven, on its shores, but sadly does no longer. Zeppelins were made in Friedrichshaven, and there is a quite good museum for them still there.
  18. It's quite easy to do - Germany and Austria have fantastic rail services, which makes it easy to get around.
  19. Mine was off the peg, but I've had it for the best part of 20 years. Only needed the trousers taken out once. Think it's time for a new one.
  20. CGT can be complicated, but basically... 1) Work out home many months you will have owned it. 2) Add up all the time it was your primary residence in months. Add on 18 months. then, work out the %age of liability you have for the time when it wasn't your primary residence. So if you've owned it 15 years (180 months) and it was you primary residence for 10.5 years (126 months, plus 18, so 144 months). So your CGT liability is (180-144)/180, so 20% of the gain. Then, work your capital gain (i.e. sell price - buy price). Lets say that is ?400k. Your CGT liability is 20% of that, so 80K. That is your taxable gain - you will pay tax on that at a rate depending on your income. But, there is also some sort of rental relief you can claim as well. You'd really should talk to a tax expert before you sell. Again, Coman & Co were really helpful.
  21. Sue you got seven years out of that printer. It died of old age! Also, most inkjet printers have the print heads embedded into the ink cartridge. The rest of the printer really wouldn't noticed you were spitting out fresh air.
  22. Maybe, but I was separating out the all patronising ones, like "know your own height" (FFS!!) At least all these call on some skill and knowledge.
  23. Probably easier to list the items that aren't patronising, RPC... 2. Basic DIY 8. How to change a tyre 13. How to put up a shelf 21. How to fix a bike puncture 22. How to jumpstart a car 27. How to drive in snow 28. What wires represent earth, live and neutral 34. How to change oil 36. How to build a fire 41. How to fix a toilet 42. How to put someone in a recovery position 44. Change a battery on a car 45. How to get a car unstuck 47. How to change a nappy 48. How to perform CPR But I'd put all those on a list of things everyone should know.
  24. I ignore low ink messages anyway. Changing when you are told would waste about 50% of a cartridge.
