Actually there have been nine in the four years from 2010-2013. 2010 - 2 2011 - 3 2012 - 1 2013 - 3 2014 stats aren't out yet.
  3. Actually, you are right, ZT. I've just found the research paper for the earlier versions of the 2000 bill, and they make much the same point as you (though with a rather amusing bit about the history). Interesting though that JohnL has the same memory I did: that lesbianism was believed not to have an age of consent until the 2000 law passed.
  4. The first lesbian age of consent was legislated in the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 2000 (enacted in 2001). Here's a blurb from the Beeb at the time: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/1045383.stm Well, you not allowed to 'sexually assault' anyone, age of consent or otherwise, but yes, before then a five old girl could theoretically give consent to a sexual act by an adult woman. I seem to recall in the 90s a few parents of 14 year old girls in the paper complaining about their daughters having adult girlfriends and they were not able to do anything about it. Also, when just googling for more info about that, I also found that the age of consent (for hetro- and homo-) in Spain is 13. They tried to change it a few years ago, but failed. In fact, age of consent across Europe ranges from 13 to 18, the majority being 14-15, though with varying other caveats mostly around teachers and other abuse of responsibility. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_consent_in_Europe
  5. Up until 2001 (!) there was no age of consent for lesbians in the UK, and so lesbian paedophilia was actually legal up until then.
  6. Just received an email with the exciting news that "Iron Maiden to Headline IT Conference".

  9. Interesting piece in the Indy today. Jasmine Alibi-Brown discussing if political satire is a good thing keeping the politicians feet on the ground, or something that is just causing more people to withdraw from the political process. http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/comment/political-satire-is-funny-but-it-also-causes-cynicism-and-apathy-10016819.html I always considered political satire as a healthy part of democracy, but I can see the point she's making.

Buddug, I absolutely do not condone anything he did and I am certainly not apologising for him. But he's dead. It's over. And yes, if there is indeed an afterlife I hope his soul finds some redemption. But I did not know the man. You obviously were much closer to him and feel personally betrayed by him. I'm not castigating you, just pointing out how Christianity says a Christian should move forward. And under all the religious dogma, sometimes there are actually some useful lessons.

That's my impression of what was said and it was a reasonable comment IMO. Yep, that's it KK. The man is dead. I'd have hoped a Christian would forgive his sins of this life and pray his soul finds some sort of peace and redemption in the next. As in "and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us ..." Sometimes, extremes are always a good test of faith and belief. Anyone can forgive a saint.

    Greece...

Well I think we can safely guess what Otta was doing between 11.22 and 11.28 this morning.
  13. Well, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of Christianity on show around here, is there?
  14. Agreed. Salsaboy's post was really quite appalling.

I'd like to hope they were grown up enough to separate the good stuff he did for them over the years from his personal issues.

I actually prefer to supermarket shop on my own (as I am a "wanderer", she's a "get what we need and get out"), but I quite like poking around with her when she's clothes shopping. Given the number of things I find she actually goes onto buy, I don't think I do too bad a job. I do realise though, that as far as husbands go, I may possibly be in a worldwide club of one person on that one.

Mind you, since discovering internet shopping I just tend to do all food stuff online now.

    Greece...

???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ...it's gonna end in fooking tears aint it? I'm not so sure. The new Greek PM has publicly said that he doesn't want to exit the EU or come out of the Euro. And, if you aren't willing to walk away, your negotiating position isn't strong. The EU has had two years to prepare for Grexit - you can bet they have a plan in place. I suspect that a deal will be made to try and make both sides look good, but actually little will change.
  21. To be fair, that was his original question, maxxi.

  24. I dunno. Marinade him overnight in a lovely combination of thyme, garlic, Dimethylpolysiloxane, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Dimethylpolysiloxane and a nice dash of Citric Acid and we could be onto a winner. A nice dish of hydroxy-epoxy-foxy. Yum.

I'm sorry, but I see no value whatsoever in that commercial building. And, lets face it, London needs (much) more housing. Great leap forward, IMHO.
