  1. Do you want to summarise the points then? All I can glean from that rather unfocussed article is that it might open the NHS up to potential competition.

He moved from London about four or five years ago to up near Colchester.
  3. Depends. If she can find somewhere similar for the old rent she's made the right move. If it costs her ?300 a month more to find somewhere similar then she may have been better off staying put.

  5. So would these rent increase controls (as he's said there will no control on starting rents) extend past the initial three year contract? If so, then you'll probably find yourself out on the street every three years as that would be the only way for the LL to bring the rent back to market rates. Also, I'm assuming that the tenant would also be held to the three years, something that many may not be comfortable with. Giving the tenant a get out clause but not the LL would probably be open to judicial review as it would be unfair to one party.

    PO11UTION

    Isn't that too many letters/numbers?
  9. david_carnell Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Jeremy - Copenhagen is no more expensive than London for eating out. Denmark has never been that bad, price-wise. Sweden and Norway, on the other hand, are eye-wateringly expensive. All the Swedes head to Copenhagen for 'cheap' weekend benders. Thus the Danish joke, "What do you call a drunk person lying on the Str?get?" "Swedish"

Good test of a sport - turn the commentary down and see if it still exciting. Something I discovered while travelling - if you don't understand the commentators (and so have the volume turned lowish), many sports become rather boring. Funnily enough, I think this makes no difference to snooker. Read into that what you may.
  11. You won't stop ginormous bonuses - just the country in which they are awarded. And spent. Watch and see the exodus from RBS.
  12. The financial sector is 10% of the UK economy and 45% of London's economy. If you encourage that overseas do you really think it will not have a knock on effect on your own finances?

    Storage

I can really recommend Henfield Self Storage (www.storage-units.co.uk/‎). Very reasonable rates and they don't pull the "you must take our (overpriced) insurance" and "buy our (overpriced) padlocks" scams. Plenty of on-line insurance people, though I used insurastore.com. Closest Henfield is up near South Bermondsey station.
  14. I could sort of understand a private self-managing landlord slipping up on the legislation, but this is an AGENT? What the hell are they doing for their 10% or so? I hope the LL stings the agent for the costs, since they really messed up here.

  17. In London, LondonMix? Where is all this land inside the M25 that the government is sitting on?
  18. I'm not sure this qualifies as a 'tiny little thing', but here goes. I have a Dustbuster, about four or five years old. The rechargeable battery in it is dying, so I had a look online for a new battery pack. Found it - ?33.99. A bit steep I thought, so how much is a whole new dustbuster? ?34.99. No wonder we are such a consumer society.

  20. Yep - sold twice in four months.
  21. Just looking at sold prices and found this particular piece of madness... 36 St Francis Road, London, Greater London SE22 8DE ?650,000 Terraced, Freehold 17 Jan 2014 ?420,000 Terraced, Freehold 09 Oct 2013 ?230k profit in three months!

Once again, you are wilfully misrepresenting the OP. He/she never said the person "must" be up to no good. They just found it suspicious. Just stop it. It's childish.

  24. It's the overseas people buying plots in cemeteries and not being buried in them I blame.
