Have you tried AJ Farmers on Lordship Lane, down near Liquorish?
  3. Why red? I'm happy to support the NHS, but I'd rather not be mistaken for a rabid lefty, you know. Besides, my sandals are in the wash. Blue is out 'cause I don't want to look like a Tory either. Wouldn't white be a more 'doctorly' colour? Or maybe scrubs green? Maybe we could all just wear stethoscopes round our necks? Maybe everyone just dress as Dr Harold Shipman? Whatever, I'm with *Bob*. Two Fridays worth of this and it'll be an immediate election for sure. By the end of April the majority in parliament will be held by the East Grinstead Primary Care Authority.

Bovine stem cells. Who'd have thought that all that research into stem cells would lead to a new form of hamburger?
  9. I'd say I've converted to Jedi-ism and spend prayer time waving a toy lightsabre around and making loud 'whoooorah' noises.

  11. The general thought amongst agents I have spoken to is that reasonably priced properties are being snapped up but overpriced stuff is seeing little interest.

House prices are only what the market sets. Someone isn't 'greedy' for asking the market rate, they would be foolish to sit down and think, 'I know the estate agent said ?500K, but I am going to put it up for a fair price of ?350K'. All that will happen is that some sharp-eyed person (probably in the estate agents themselves) will grab it and resell it and pocket the money themselves.
  13. What exactly do you need in a gym?
  14. Inconveniently placed cars along Abbotswood and Talbot should make getting construction vehicles though difficult, while letting cars past unimpeded. **grin**

I think it has always been the case that you had to register if you wanted an monthly or longer travelcard.

I am assuming you were using a Travelcard on the Oyster, rather than pay-as-you-go? If so, I doubt you'll get anywhere with an appeal.

  22. On the way back don't queue for the flyover - head to the left hand lane and detour through Hammersmith. Much faster.
  23. Having just run the gamut of estate agents it seems that the market is very slow at the moment - people are opting to sit tight until things look brighter. So, there are a shortage of properties coming onto the market, but still a decent number of buyers around. Thus it's a bit of - but not hugely - a sellers market, so prices are on the up a bit. But they've really only come back to about where they were pre-2009.

Keep it simple. No fancy graphics, no fancy fonts, no photo, no more than two pages. I've had to read through a fair few in my time and, believe me, the ones you can get the pertinent information from fast are the ones that get your attention. And get someone else to proof read it for you. Any spelling or grammatical errors are bad. Small things can be the difference between getting an interview or not. (Once seen on a cv... some bloke applying for an IT position put in his email address as: 'mummyslittlehelper@...'. Sigh.)
