  1. You could try the community garden in Brockwell Park? They sell some of their plants in pots, to raise funds.
  2. I'm not surprised. I once saw two women pulling stuff out of them and just leaving it on the pavement (presumably after taking what they wanted). I take clothes which aren't good enough for a charity shop to sell to the hospice shop in a bag clearly marked "rags". They recycle them somewhere, can't remember where.
  3. Is there anyone out there who can advise on a website issue? I already couldn't edit it but now it seems to have been hacked, and internal links are going to places I'd rather they didn't, to put it mildly 😭 Please PM me if you can help or know someone who can, thanks. I was already looking to start the whole thing from scratch, but this has now become more urgent, and made more difficult because I don't have a working laptop at the moment 😭
  4. Hope your pain goes away soon, Foxy. I had no idea there was a shingles vaccine! I had chicken pox twice when I was a kid, so I will investigate.

    Thanks Joe!
  6. I had just previewed a post I had written in the Trades section (about a delicious meal I had yesterday), went to add something on the end of it, and the whole thing disappeared 🙄 I was completely unable to get it back. Had I been on my laptop I might have tried control Z, but I was on my mobile. Tried looking at my history but it wasn't there. Should I have saved the draft? I don't recall anything like this ever happening before. It was quite a long post, and I didn't have the energy or inclination to write it all out again from scratch 🙄

Oh, ok. I've always done that anyway to make things bold. The old forum allowed you to do it as well.

That's because you've clicked on the thread title, which also happened with the old system. If you click on the little grey icon to the right of the latest poster's name that will take you to the latest post... I can't see any latest poster's name, only the thread title. My laptop is dead so I can only use my mobile at the moment, but I generally use my mobile for the EDF anyway.

    Red dots!

Thanks! Sorry only just seen this!

Yes, I'm very glad the forum is still here, and very grateful to those who have made that possible, but every page seems to be full of so many symbols and red dots and ads and "do not automatically parse URLs" and stuff that it's hard to find the actual content! Also it seems to default to the first post of what may be a very long thread, rather than to the most recent post. Maybe I just need more time to get the hang of it 🙄 What on earth does "Disable BBCode" mean?
  11. So are they intending to do something about him, as he sounds potentially dangerous if he is physically hitting people?
  12. Have you cloned yourself, Malumbu? You seem to be double posting everywhere 🙂
  13. I think perhaps the problem is the way it is communicated, rather than the policy itself re paying upfront, which seems completely fair. I also found the tone of some of the statements on the menu to be rather off-putting. I'm sure Luca's don't mean it to come across in this way, but I was quite taken aback by what I perceived as the rather curt way in which customers were being addressed (not by the staff, I hasten to add). I wonder whether they might reconsider their wording so that they get the same points across in a more customer-friendly way?
  14. I now know which school she goes to (thanks to someone who PMed me) but when I phoned the school I just got a message saying they were closed for the summer, and the only email address I can find is for admissions. I assume Jessica's parents will have applied for a replacement by now, so I am not going to pursue it.
  15. Is anybody else having trouble working out how to use the new private messaging system? I'm finding it really complicated. Possibly due to senility 🙄
  16. I think the local schools are now on holiday? I don't understand the round robin bit, how would I get numerous email addresses? TFL just told me her parents could apply for a replacement card, which probably they already have done.
  17. No, I'm querying your saying "most" old people want to use bank branches based on a sample of four people!
  18. Have you actually tried the manufacturer, or are you just assuming they won't be able to help? Also, have you tried googling? I was able to find the manual for my seventeen year old fridge freezer online!
  19. TFL no longer deal with lost cards. They told me to bin it 😮 I will keep it for a while on the off chance somebody recognised the name. It's an 11-15 photo card. I have also posted on Facebook, but can anybody suggest anywhere else I could try?
  20. Sorry to quibble, and sorry that your and your partner's parents will be inconvenienced, but four people you happen to know are not "most" old people! We have to move with the times, even if change becomes mentally more difficult as we get older. Sometimes it just takes a while to get used to different ways of doing things.
  21. Does anybody know Jessica C Nzekwe? I have found her Zip oyster card near the junction of the South Circular and Lordship Lane. Admin I know this should be in the lost and found section but I am hoping more people may see it here, and it's an unusual name. Please PM me if you can put me in touch with her, otherwise I will call TFL, thanks.

    Red dots!

Is it possible to remove the red dots from the headings of threads with new posts which you haven't read and don't want to?! Or do you have to click on them all and not read them to get rid of the red dot? Sorry if there's some obvious way which I haven't noticed !
  23. Well, how long have the Tories been in power? Cutting funds to the NHS plus the loss of staff due to Brexit has led to this (Covid not so much, I suspect). Future tax cuts will make the situation worse, with even less funding, and then even more NHS staff will leave. Slippery and steep slope to total privatisation. In my opinion. Meanwhile, people like this poor person are left in pain. I hope she is OK now. Disgraceful situation.
  24. That depends on multiple factors with age being one. Most older folk don't do online banking or don't trust it so for them a branch is essential. "Most" older folk? Do you have stats to back that up? I'd be very surprised if that was the case. I'm old. I have old friends. So far as I'm aware, none of us are stuck in prehistoric times where our banking is concerned 🤣

    Mosquito Net

No but that's a very good idea! I've got an old mosquito net in the loft, maybe I'll get it down and try it!
