Which is the best curry restaurant on Lordship Lane?
Sue replied to bh28's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I had a prawn Madras in Mirash last week. It wasn't good. They seemed to have used dried shrimps. A lot of them, but dried, and I don't think they had been properly rehydrated. They were a strange texture. I don't recall ever coming across this before, but on the other hand it's probably decades since I last had a prawn Madras. And they did make me cucumber raita to go with it, albeit a very small portion. -
In 1986, Royal Mail was split into Royal Mail Letters, Royal Mail Parcels, and Post Office Counters. In 1987, Post Office Counters Ltd became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Royal Mail and then in 2001, Post Office Counters Ltd became a public limited company and was renamed Post Office Ltd.

I just want to highly recommend my lovely plasterer Rob, who has just repaired my kitchen ceiling after the Christmas Day leak disaster for less than half the cost the plumber told me I'd have to pay, including materials, and done a very good job. He has done excellent work for me in the past. His number is 07791 493220.

If you are referring to Malumbu's post, perhaps you should re-read his last paragraph ..... Unless I have misunderstood it (quite likely 🤣 )

Check your bill in Sainsbury's Dog Kennel Hill!
Sue replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It wasn't the shelf label that was wrong in this case. It was the price charged at the till. I have complained online, pointing out that many other people must also have been overcharged. I await the response, though I'm not holding my breath 🙄 -
🤣🤣🤣

I saw the Stones at Tooting Odeon. Front row. Must have been early sixties. On topic, I reckon either Poundland or Screwfix. But preferably a cinema!

Station not in use. Just heard from my road What'sApp group. I don't think the photo is AI. The tree is very green, but I presume evergreen. Trains are all cancelled, so not AI then. 😮

I can also recommend Aria! I found a cracked kitchen ceiling with water dripping through it on Christmas morning - great timing. I turned the water off for two days, and phoned Aria on 27th. He was out of London, but called in to have a look that evening, after a long journey back bogged down in traffic. He kept me fully informed of the delays. He must have been really tired after the long drive, but he went to great lengths to find the source of the leak and make sure there weren't any others. It was a slow leak from a crack in a connection to/part of my concealed toilet cistern, and must have been going on for months or longer. Aria came back the following day and fitted a new part, which was tricky due to very limited space, and he made quite sure that the leak was gone before he left. He explained everything clearly to me at every stage, and I feel he went above and beyond. He was also reasonably priced. I will definitely use him next time I need a plumber!

Favourite music releases and best gigs of the year
Sue replied to Earl Aelfheah's topic in The Lounge
Thanks Malumbu! Most of next year's Goose gigs are now up on our website www.thegooseisout.com -
Yes I did, and yes it was installed and activated quickly. I'm sure it's not always the case that bills will be lower - it obviously depends entirely on how much water your household uses! When I applied for mine, there was a quiz thing on their website you could do beforehand to find out if you were likely to save money, and at that time, if you weren't happy after 12 months you could go back to your old payment method ( but obviously I didn't want to!) Have you asked Thames Water about activating the meter? They surely must have given you some information when they installed it? ETA: Sorry, my post crossed with yours!

I saved £200 a year when I changed to a water meter a few years back. I mostly live by myself, and I'm very careful with water now, but I do water the garden with a hose in the summer

Yes, somebody must have entered the price wrongly into the system, but I wonder how many people have been overcharged as a result. I had a Tesco delivery quite recently, but Kahlua wasn't really on my radar at the time. -

Sorry only just seen this. I think it's closed now, but it was rammed. I went to the tills where you buy lottery tickets, where the queue was shorter. -
I just went in to buy a bottle of Kahlua. It was £16, or £12 with a Nectar card, which I have. At the till I wasn't asked for my Nectar card until I asked if they were going to scan it, and after it was scanned I was charged £24. When I protested, the guy said "have you got a photo of the price?" WTF! Yes, every item I buy in Sainsbury's I take a photo of the price 😡 He made me go all the way back through the store to take a photo, and only then charged me £12. Had this been part of a mega shop, I might not even have noticed, so check your bill! Oh, and then I got on a P13 going in the wrong direction 😂 Happy Christmas Eve everyone!

Any local carol services on Christmas Eve evening?
Sue replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks both! -
When we were in East Dulwich for Christmas we used to go to a carol service at St John's (Goose Green) which was held before Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, but this year there just seems to be Christingle for children that afternoon. I can't see anything in the Events section. Does anybody know of an evening carol service in East Dulwich (or nearby) on Christmas Eve this year?

Took it all to the tip today, no problems, thanks everyone ❤️

As I have in the past complained on here about loud music from builders, I would just like to thank the various builders around the North Cross Road area recently for not having radios blasting out, or indeed any music at any level. Building work is inevitably noisy, which can't be helped, but it has been so nice not to have that added to by loud music. And so nice not to have to be glared at (or worse) if I ask them to turn the music down (assuming they can hear me above the noise).
