James Barber was a very good and proactive councillor. So I believe is James McCash (spelling?) In local elections I don't necessarily vote the way I would at a general election, and I suspect (I have no evidence) that others are the same. Does anyone know anything about the Green candidates? I have got a postal vote (which I don't remember applying for) and I've got to post it soon.

Protest vs offshoring asylum seekers - petition and/or write to your MP
Sue replied to IlonaM's topic in The Lounge
Thank you for that, I have sent it to Helen Hayes. Who I am sure is absolutely appalled by this. -
This is just the latest from this government, isn't it. A gradual slipping further and further down until the unthinkable becomes the acceptable. Drip drip drip. One wonders where this country is going to end up. And why so many people appear not to notice what is happening. Or why if they do notice, they don't care.

I agree with what Jenijenjen said above. I'm very happy for the portaloos to be paid for from my council tax. Maybe take a few moments to look at the wider issues here, Rockets - the clue is in the word "extinction". -
As posted above, I highly recommend Lloyds Direct. It saves all this hassle!

I do feed and water them though. There is also a robin who often has a bath in the large saucer of water I put out. Actually there is a pair of robins. I think they are nesting in the climbers.

It is what it is. Bored of.

What a farce. I've lived here all my life, and I only got 19 out of 24 right, and some of those were guesses. What on earth is the point of this test? Although judging from some of the posts above, I must have done a different test? It came up from a link above. The first question was about roast beef 🙄

How can we stop this madness of tree felling in residential streets?

This is a very long shot. I have lost a pair of sunglasses, I presume somewhere in East Dulwich. To the best of my recollection I had only been in two places on the day I lost them, neither of which has seen them. They are tortoiseshell type frames, and in a dark blue zipped case with the brand name "InVu" on it. They aren't valuable in any way, although also not cheap (I got them from an optician, though they aren't prescription), it's just annoying. If by some miracle someone picked them up, I would love to have them back!

Clearly disruption > is designed to be provocative and not legal. I > have emailed Dulwich Hill councillors to ask them > if they support it? Well many, including climate scientists, have played nicely to try to get this issue properly addressed by those who have the power and means to do so, and seem to have got nowhere. It seems to me that the only way left to drum into those people's apparently thick skulls that doing something immediate and radical to slow down climate change is necessary IS to cause disruption, and to be provocative. We should all be grateful, for our children's and grandchildrens' sakes, that XR are willing to do this. Frankly unless someone is actually being physically harmed by XR's activities, I would say illegality is irrelevant. Probably what the suffragettes did was illegal. There are probably lots of other instances where "illegal" action eventually brought about change. This cause isn't something you can "agree" or "disagree" with. It's about the continued existence of the human race. Though I do have some sympathy with those who think the planet would be better off without us. -

Rockets Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If it is authorised then the council needs to > explain why; XR are not a group they should be > supporting or encouraging. Why, exactly? This is the most important issue of our time, and so far as I can see the vast majority of people are just hoping it will go away. We are actually on the brink of extinction, with a very tiny window of opportunity left to do something about it. The climate scientists' pleas are relegated to the parts of the online news that nobody looks at. We should be grateful to XR for actually doing something to make people realise what's going on, instead of burying their heads in the sand. If I was younger and in better health, I would join them. -
I'm with Octopus. Entered my meter readings with no problems at all earlier this evening.

Some staff were recently handing out as many as you could carry. Today (different person) they were rationing people to three boxes each.
