  1. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/nov/15/commons-gaza-vote-labour-defy-starmer-ceasefire-israel?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other Yep - I was just about to post the same. I had been intending to write to her.
  2. I'm still wondering how far the cat was from its home when "found", and how long it had been away from its home when "found"? Sorry to labour the point, and I'm obviously delighted it is now back with its owner, but I am concerned that anybody now who comes across a cat at night, or who is followed by a cat at night, thinks it is the right thing to do to take it to their own house because it must be "lost".
  3. The point I was making was that somebody said that the cat was "obviously lost" - which it wasn't. I think it's out of order to call Maria "stupidly irresponsible" on a public forum. You have no idea how her cat came to be there. Most cats run over in East Dulwich are on the side roads, to the best of my knowledge. Possibly some cats may wander "unsupervised" onto Lordship Lane. They may wander anywhere! Perhaps people living in London (or anywhere else there are cars - which is basically most places) shouldn't let their cats out at all? That's very good news! ❤️
  4. All you have said about a cat which followed you was that it "looked lost." This reminds me of someone on an online East Dulwich thread (unrelated to this forum) who posted a picture of Abbas, the cat from Really Maria's, sitting on the pavement outside the shop. The person said this cat was upset by all the Lordship Lane traffic, and did anyone know who the owner was. Another person then said the cat was"obviously lost." Luckily someone recognised this "obviously lost" cat as living where the photo was taken. At least the original poster didn't take it home 🙄 I am in my seventies and have also owned and loved cats over the years . I'm not sure how 40 years of owning cats qualifies you to know that a cat out on the streets is "lost." You have not said that the cat looked unwell or starving, which would be a different matter. I hope the vet can help. I'm glad you are now "well enough to leave the house". I thought you were out of the house when the cat followed you and you took it home? And please don't tell me what I can and can't post on this forum. I see you have only just joined it. I have been posting on here for nearly seventeen years. Like you, I am concerned for the welfare of the cat.
  5. Cats quite often follow us down the road late at night. We don't take them in because "they're lost" ! I live in Ulverscroft Road. Cats follow us to the doorstep. How do you "know what a lost cat looks like"? The cat you have kidnapped looks healthy and well fed. Cats wander all over the place at night. Poor cat 😭 And poor owners, who must be wondering where it is 😭
  6. Have you checked with a vet to see if it is chipped? I'm wondering what a "lost" cat looks like. Good on you for moving it out of the road, but is there any reason why you didn't just put it onto the pavement? It must be very confused now!
  7. We were at the march. All we saw was peaceful and friendly. Everyone, at least around us, seemed to be there to call for an immediate cease fire. There were chants against Netanyahu, Sunak and Starmer, all unsurprising and all deserved, in my opinion. However there appeared to be a real failure of communication on the part of the police. Having joined the march at Park Lane, we eventually got to Vauxhall Bridge to find it had been closed off. There were a large number of police there, but none of them seemed to be doing anything, and nor were they advising people to turn back or directing them in any particular direction. In any case some of the side roads were closed off by police We heard variously (not from the police) that the bridge closure was due to too many people on the other side of the bridge (what had they expected, FFS) and/or due to anticipated problems with a large group of right wing thugs who were approaching on that side. Anyway, whatever was the reason, nobody (police nor stewards) was telling people coming down Vauxhall Bridge Road towards the bridge that the bridge was closed. So there were still large crowds of people approaching quite fast, with nowhere to go. We thought that this situation could become quite dangerous, so we decided to call it a day and just to head back towards Victoria. When we came to a group of police at the Victoria end of Vauxhall Bridge Road, I asked why nobody was telling people that the bridge was closed and directing them elsewhere to avoid a massive build up at the entrance to the bridge. Unbelievably, they did not know that the bridge had been closed 😮 So they then took steps to find out what was happening - at the other end of the road they were on 😮
  8. There's a Best Western hotel in Peckham.
  9. I can second this recommendation. https://www.trooneyheating.co.uk/about
  10. Was he tied up somewhere when he was left, eg outside a shop? Possibly somebody thought he had just been deliberately abandoned? Have you asked the shop? Or was he not on a lead? Being held? I'm struggling to understand how this could happen, especially with such a large dog 😭 There is also a Facebook East Dulwich Forum (not connected with this one) you could post on. Also a neighbourhood forum called Next Door. Also try posters in the vicinity of the area where he was left. I hope he is found soon.
  11. 😭😭😭
  12. I was on the second march, with my partner and adult daughter. On the way back, just near Trafalgar Square, sopping wet and looking for somewhere to eat, I was shoved hard with an open umbrella by a woman who shouted at me and called me a cretin and a murderer 🙄
  13. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  14. Interesting, but a bit like TrustPilot, people are probably more likely to bother to leave a review if they've had a terrible experience than if they've had a good one?
  15. Oh dear, poor dog. Has his home been traced?
  16. I have found The Gardens very good. If you need an urgent appointment you can get a phone one the same day, and then a face to face appointment very quickly if the GP needs to examine you. If it's not urgent, yes you have to wait, particularly if you want a face to face appointment with a specific GP, but that's fair enough. I've moved practice twice in the over thirty years I've lived here, and this is by far the best of the three I've been registered with if you are in their catchment area. It is very easy to change GPs and you don't have to tell the existing practice that you are leaving.
  17. That link seems to go somewhere else completely .......
  18. Yes, I've had a PM which confirms that this Winifred previously lived (decades ago!) at the house to which the letter was delivered. My best friend at school was called Winifred. So was my Latin teacher 🤣 I missed a physio appointment because it was on the new system as a video appointment, when it was actually face to face. I had phoned that morning to confirm it was video, because I thought it was strange, as I hadn't been told this when I booked it. I was assured that yes it was. Both the physio and I completely wasted our time - him waiting in a room for me to turn up, me being told online when on the video link that my appointment was delayed - I gave up waiting after twenty minutes "delay" 😡 Then when I phoned to find out what was going on, the physio reception had closed The physio phoned me the next day to apologise and make a new appointment, but it clearly wasn't his fault.
  19. Yes it is. That would explain it, thank you. This new system seems to be experiencing rather a lot of what could most kindly be called "teething problems" 🙄
  20. A possibly urgent letter has been sent to her at the wrong address. Please PM me if you know her.
  21. They used to be very good many moons ago, but the good staff seem to have left?
  22. I have just come across a letter from Royal Mail. It is dated 24 August 2023. It says "our tracking information confirms delivery of your item on 16/11/23 and I hope your item has now been received." 🤣🤣🤣 Is Royal Mail now going in for some weird form of time travel?
