It all seems totally random to me. Some larger items seem to have disappeared forever.

In my experience, the live indicators are usually more accurate than the app (or Google maps also gives bus information), and it's much easier just to look at the indicator rather than fiddling about on a mobile.

Also, there is already confusion with The Ivy House in Nunhead being mistaken for other Ivies, so this will make that worse!

  6. Thanks. I just phoned Lloyds Direct, who say they can do nothing without a prescription. I will have to try the "urgent" route, but I feel bad taking up their time. ETA: Phoned the "urgent" number and they say they can't help with the medication but the surgery will be open again after 2pm. Why on earth couldn't The Gardens just have said so in their phone message? Anyway, hopefully this information may be of use to anybody else trying to contact them this morning ...... ETA: The "urgent" number given came up on my mobile as being the Tessa Jowell Health Centre.
  7. Does anybody know what's going on here? I need a repeat prescription. I do them via Lloyds Direct/Echo, but they (quite rightly, obviously) can't send out medication until the request has been signed off by a GP. Lloyds sent the request to the surgery on 3 January. Yesterday I phoned the surgery and got a message saying the NHS had told them to suspend all appointments until further notice unless urgent, and so only to speak to somebody if it was urgent. So I emailed them, but have so far had no reply. I phoned again this morning and now there is just a very short message saying that they are closed "due to staff shortage", and giving a number to ring if the call is urgent. Is this the situation with all surgeries in the area, or is it just The Gardens? I have no idea if my issue counts as being "urgent" or not. I am running out of the medication.

  9. How long would the CCTV recording be kept for?

  16. I just got a pack this morning I had ordered online. I think you have to keep trying, as at first I kept getting messages they weren't available.
  17. I completely support the aims of the ULEZ, however I think there should have been more support for residents within the zone who have old cars. My car is over twenty years old, well maintained, regularly serviced, passes its MOT first time, but is not ULEZ compliant. I didn't meet whatever the requirements are to get the two grand for scrapping it, and I was horrified to discover the prices of cars! Plus I was inundated with phone calls from car salespeople as soon as I started enquiring about cars advertised online. I know this is a bit off topic, but other options (eg hiring a car when needed) are apparently closed to me because I am, like my car, so ancient. I did have a buyer (who lives well out of the zone) for my car, but decided to keep it pro tem after I discovered that the ULEZ charge only applies when the car is actually driven within the zone, and not when it's parked in the zone. People who live in the congestion zone don't get charged (I think) and the aims of that are the same, ie to reduce pollution. What is the difference? So far I have made three trips, one to collect my Christmas tree and two to drive to and from my daughter's, coming back on a different day, with a load of heavy stuff impossible to take on public transport, and have been picked up by cameras all three times. So in a few days I have nearly forty quid being taken out of my bank account. I hope it will be put to good use 🙄
  18. "Can't deliver" may actually be accurate if they haven't got the staff to deliver. It doesn't say "Tried to deliver but there was nobody around to take it in". Absolutely appalling. FFS undo the privatisation. It's the same with transport - a terrible mess, and the customers suffer.

Lynne Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I believe the email address of the current > chairman, Stuart Simpson is > [email protected] > > We all know that complains will have no effect, > but I feel something should be done. Probably better to complain via Helen Hayes (who I know is already on the case and has been since before the ED delivery office was closed). I only say this because a) the chairman won't be picking up his own emails, a minion in his office will be and b) unless things have changed, the chairman's office prioritises complaints from MPs, which have to be answered within a certain time scale. If memory serves, it used to be two weeks. Complaints, including those from members of the public, just get shunted down the line to the relevant department for some other minion to investigate (if necessary) and draft a reply in due course. Decades (it feels like centuries) ago, I was one of those minions 🤣 Letters from MPs were in those days called "flag cases" and draft responses had to get back to the chairman's office PDQ 🤣 This was before the days of email ..... But also, Helen Hayes can put together all the complaints she gets and make a stronger case for something to be done than just a trickle of one off complaints to the chairman from different people. Not, I agree, that that seems to have had any effect so far. I can't understand why the Peckham office isn't taking on casuals. Surely it wouldn't cost that much?
  20. I had six cards delivered today, one posted on 9 December. Plus a replacement SIM card posted a fortnight ago ... Luckily in the end not needed. I am still waiting for two items relating to a new bank account opened weeks ago 😡

Great idea, but what happens if a second or third courier arrives before you have removed the first courier's parcel/s?!

I can't see how delivering to relatively far flung places affects delivery in South East London? Surely the only impact of that is on Royal Mail's overall staffing, transport and delivery office costs, and those won't have changed significantly since privatisation. What has changed is Royal Mail now having to deliver (pun not intentional) a profit to its shareholders. Which directly led, so far as I can see, to the almagamation of the ED delivery office with Peckham's, instead of finding a local alternative to the Sylvester Road office if that was no longer fit for purpose (as Royal Mail claimed).
