  1. I think the local schools are now on holiday? I don't understand the round robin bit, how would I get numerous email addresses? TFL just told me her parents could apply for a replacement card, which probably they already have done.
  2. No, I'm querying your saying "most" old people want to use bank branches based on a sample of four people!
  3. Have you actually tried the manufacturer, or are you just assuming they won't be able to help? Also, have you tried googling? I was able to find the manual for my seventeen year old fridge freezer online!
  4. TFL no longer deal with lost cards. They told me to bin it ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I will keep it for a while on the off chance somebody recognised the name. It's an 11-15 photo card. I have also posted on Facebook, but can anybody suggest anywhere else I could try?
  5. Sorry to quibble, and sorry that your and your partner's parents will be inconvenienced, but four people you happen to know are not "most" old people! We have to move with the times, even if change becomes mentally more difficult as we get older. Sometimes it just takes a while to get used to different ways of doing things.
  6. Does anybody know Jessica C Nzekwe? I have found her Zip oyster card near the junction of the South Circular and Lordship Lane. Admin I know this should be in the lost and found section but I am hoping more people may see it here, and it's an unusual name. Please PM me if you can put me in touch with her, otherwise I will call TFL, thanks.

    Red dots!

Is it possible to remove the red dots from the headings of threads with new posts which you haven't read and don't want to?! Or do you have to click on them all and not read them to get rid of the red dot? Sorry if there's some obvious way which I haven't noticed !
  8. Well, how long have the Tories been in power? Cutting funds to the NHS plus the loss of staff due to Brexit has led to this (Covid not so much, I suspect). Future tax cuts will make the situation worse, with even less funding, and then even more NHS staff will leave. Slippery and steep slope to total privatisation. In my opinion. Meanwhile, people like this poor person are left in pain. I hope she is OK now. Disgraceful situation.
  9. That depends on multiple factors with age being one. Most older folk don't do online banking or don't trust it so for them a branch is essential. "Most" older folk? Do you have stats to back that up? I'd be very surprised if that was the case. I'm old. I have old friends. So far as I'm aware, none of us are stuck in prehistoric times where our banking is concerned ๐Ÿคฃ

    Mosquito Net

No but that's a very good idea! I've got an old mosquito net in the loft, maybe I'll get it down and try it!
  11. I think you have misunderstood my post. I said NOT being allowed to bring their own water with them would be a Health and Safety issue!
  12. There is a flock of often over twenty sparrows who regularly come to the bird feeders and water in my garden.
  13. Which area is Dulwich Hill?
  14. Yes it's bonkers. Usually I am the only person on a bus wearing a mask (apart from my partner if he is with me). I went to Kings a while back and a security man on the Jubilee Wing door wasn't wearing one - at least, it was round his neck ๐Ÿ™„ But - "anyone in charge" ?? Like who? It's as if Covid has been erased from people's memories, yet I know loads of people who have had it over the last month or so ๐Ÿ™„
  15. Surely they are allowed to bring their own water with them? If not, that's a Health and Safety issue.

    76 heatwave

Pushing my small daughter in a buggy around a city in the baking heat was the worst thing for me. I really pity pregnant women in these kinds of temperatures.
  17. Silly question sorry, but did you ask inside the pub? I hope your child is not too traumatised. I also hope the police are more helpful than it sounded from the original thread which was lost.
  18. Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, but thanks so much for all your hard work, Joe (and again to Mark). At my advanced age it's going to take a bit of getting used to, but so do many things these days ๐Ÿคฃ

  20. We run regular Singarounds at The Ivy House in Nunhead. Second Sunday of the month 7pm. No PA, no stage, it isn't an open mic. We welcome songs of any genre, although many people do sing folk songs. Instrumental accompaniments to the songs are fine, but not just tunes without any words! More info from http://www.thegooseisout.com/Singarounds though we can't edit the website at the moment ๐Ÿ˜ญ There are regular instrumental sessions at The Windmill in Brixton, no singing, also sadly on the second Sunday of the month so we can never go to them ourselves! If you are looking for people to sing or play with, many people have got together in duos or small groups as a result of meeting at our Singarounds.

I agree re the possible quality of their legal advice, but perhaps they chose to go ahead regardless.

  23. I always thought it was a very strange and off-putting name, but I'm hardly its target market. The Mixed Blessings bakery on the Walworth Road has also always struck me as an odd name to choose. Just because something has a vaguely double meaning doesn't make it good if the other meaning is somewhat negative!
  24. I think I may have accidentally deleted somebody's PM re this, if you PMed me and didn't get a reply, could you send it again? Sorry.
