Washing???!!! I didn't see the documentary, but his books are very good
  3. What a farce. I've lived here all my life, and I only got 19 out of 24 right, and some of those were guesses. What on earth is the point of this test? Although judging from some of the posts above, I must have done a different test? It came up from a link above. The first question was about roast beef 🙄

  5. This is a very long shot. I have lost a pair of sunglasses, I presume somewhere in East Dulwich. To the best of my recollection I had only been in two places on the day I lost them, neither of which has seen them. They are tortoiseshell type frames, and in a dark blue zipped case with the brand name "InVu" on it. They aren't valuable in any way, although also not cheap (I got them from an optician, though they aren't prescription), it's just annoying. If by some miracle someone picked them up, I would love to have them back!

Well many, including climate scientists, have played nicely to try to get this issue properly addressed by those who have the power and means to do so, and seem to have got nowhere. It seems to me that the only way left to drum into those people's apparently thick skulls that doing something immediate and radical to slow down climate change is necessary IS to cause disruption, and to be provocative. We should all be grateful, for our children's and grandchildrens' sakes, that XR are willing to do this. Frankly unless someone is actually being physically harmed by XR's activities, I would say illegality is irrelevant. Probably what the suffragettes did was illegal. There are probably lots of other instances where "illegal" action eventually brought about change. This cause isn't something you can "agree" or "disagree" with. It's about the continued existence of the human race. Though I do have some sympathy with those who think the planet would be better off without us.

Why, exactly? This is the most important issue of our time, and so far as I can see the vast majority of people are just hoping it will go away. We are actually on the brink of extinction, with a very tiny window of opportunity left to do something about it. The climate scientists' pleas are relegated to the parts of the online news that nobody looks at. We should be grateful to XR for actually doing something to make people realise what's going on, instead of burying their heads in the sand. If I was younger and in better health, I would join them.

I'm with Octopus. Entered my meter readings with no problems at all earlier this evening.
  9. Some staff were recently handing out as many as you could carry. Today (different person) they were rationing people to three boxes each.
  10. I thought it was becoming a nursery??

  15. 😂
  16. OK thanks
  17. I've been with Plusnet for years (except for a brief sad experience with BT - and yes I know Plusnet is a subsidiary of them, but presumably their admin etc is separate). I've found Plusnet reliable, and their customer service has been good whenever I've needed them. My WiFi isn't that great, but I think they have brought out a better router, and in any case I'm not sure it's entirely the router's fault.

  19. Thanks all!

  21. My buildings and contents insurance are coming up for renewal at the end of May. Since my front bay was rebuilt after subsidence, my premiums have rocketed, and the company (Zurich) were so appalling in just about every respect when dealing with the claim that I really don't want to stay with them. However I know I am going to have trouble getting anybody else to insure me, because of the previous subsidence. Somebody from Direct Line is phoning me tomorrow (they know about the subsidence), I presume to give me a quote (my car insurance is presently with them). Does anybody have any experience of getting quotes after subsidence repairs? Should I go to a broker? Online and on the phone, in the past as soon as subsidence is mentioned companies don't want to know. Also, my buildings and contents insurance are presently combined, and I'm wondering whether it would now be cheaper to look at separate quotes. I don't want to jump out of the frying pan into the fire and end up with a company that is worse, though I sincerely hope I never have to make another claim.
  22. This morning I was astounded to see a large brown butterfly fly past my kitchen window. I've no idea what it was, as I only got a glimpse of it, but it wasn't anything I recognised. First butterfly I've seen this year, as well.
