The Daily Mail article which Siduhe linked to above seems to say that the vast majority of these parcels come from China, or are otherwise not actually "Missing Post." If Royal Mail (or other couriers) genuinely can't deliver mail because of illegible addresses and no return address given, or whatever, then I think it's fine for them to sell the contents. But it seems to be clear that just because items are sold online as "Missing Post", that does not mean that they are actually "Missing Post" (which by implication has been stolen by posties). Frankly, I think if people spend hundreds of pounds buying these parcels because they expect to find some incredibly expensive items inside, they deserve everything they get :))
  6. JessM Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Just checked on eBay. Could not find any post > listed! I think Femke should provide a link or links to back up his/her claim, because accusing Royal Mail staff of the kind of level of theft s/he describes is very serious. S/he said "Job lots of 'missing post' are being auctioned off on Ebay which is apparently happening all the time and I am furious to think that this theft is now common practice." All the time? Common practice?? Job lots of "missing post"???
  7. To the best of my knowledge my mail is back to normal now, and there is nothing I should have received which I haven't had. However, Femke, are you saying that eBay auctions are actually labelled as "missing post"? Because if so, surely eBay should not be accepting them for sale?
  8. I just had an email from Southwark Council about a virtual event they are holding for people concerned about having the vaccine, with medical experts to answer questions. Many people have/have had Covid who don't have any of those symptoms. It affects different people in different ways. And many people must have spread it because, as their symptoms weren't in those four, they couldn't get a test, and also assumed they must have some other virus, and didn't self isolate.

  11. I hope they do too, but the drinks menu referring to "Brixton Larger" doesn't fill one with hope for their attention to detail :))
  12. I also have an autoimmune condition and am on immunosuppressant medication. I was lucky and had no side effects at all from my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. It seems to vary very greatly from person to person, I have no idea why. I was quite ill the day after my flu jab, though.

I thought Aneto had expanded into it? Locale was horrible. When it was The Flying Pig, that downstairs space always seemed really weird. Perhaps whoever has it now could do what Franco Manca did to the old Black Cherry space, and make it all on one level. That might improve things. Just looked at their website. I look forward to enjoying a "relaxed and stylish atmosphere" (rolls eyes).

I'm presuming this is different to the recent Zoom session about the Great North Wood? I can't remember who was hosting that, but it was a very interesting presentation. Did he change his name to Greenwood? I knew somebody who did :)

There's a nice little cafe there (when it's open) and also a mini brewery near the community garden there.

This one has been resurrected from 2011 😶
  24. Thanks TheCat, that's annoying! We did have a very good Indian meal from elsewhere, and had a long wait for that as well. We would have happily waited! I can't remember what time we went onto their website, but somewhere between 6 and 7pm. I don't know why they would have a message saying they were "closed today", that's quite misleading I think, it would have been better to explain the situation? Not to worry, we will try again next weekend!
