  4. I just keep my landline on permanent answerphone. I can hear any messages, so if it's someone I want to speak to (rare, as most people call my mobile) I can intercept them. Otherwise, they can just witter on. But I get very few spam calls.
  5. Sadly Fox I suspect you are going to be disappointed if you expect some exotic taste!
  6. Look on the bright side, at least they've gone!
  7. Try involving your councillor? Absolutely ridiculous to have a noise team clocking off at midnight. ETA: Apologies, just seen you have posted about this on the councillor thread.

  9. Amazon must know who ordered it, so surely they could contact them to tell them they have the wrong address?
  10. Thank goodness you found out before you exchanged contracts!
  11. Is the surname McClean?
  12. I should have said, the woodchip had been painted over at various times, so the top layer was several layers of emulsion paint, which made things worse!

You could speak to Daniel on the phone and get a feel for whether he could help, if you don't want to go straight to an appointment?
  14. Ten years ago, I removed woodchip paper from my hall and landing. It was covering decades of layers of paper, including what looked like the original Edwardian/Victorian. Even with a steamer, it was an effing nightmare and took days. In the end I paid someone to finish it. All the walls had to be replastered. Glad I did it now, though 🤣

It's always been like that. I gave away an old car on Freecycle once. I really didn't care who took it, but when the guy arrived (quite obviously a dealer) he told me this ridiculous story about buying it to do it up for a poor lady who couldn't afford one. FFS. Why bother? Just take it off my hands 🤣
  16. So a shop was advertising it sold one thing, and also happened to sell something else as well. Which was clearly and accurately labelled. That's like complaining because a shop advertises it sells oranges and also happens to sell apples. But keep on trolling, dontbesilly ...

If it was me (which it isn't, obviously) I'd leave it until you get a fine (which I presume still comes by letter?), and then appeal, which was what I did both times. Of course, with the present postal delays in East Dulwich, by the time you get it the fine might have multiplied a zillion fold ...... But it's possible as in your case there were clearly signposted diversions, you won't be fined at all.
  18. It's still not back to normal, unfortunately.

I do that as well, but I put it in my compost :)

  21. My two cases were both on that route, when the same road was blocked off (the slip road that leads onto the ?A40? just after Paddington). Somewhere near Bishop's Bridge Road?? I got the fine via a letter, and challenged it, both times. In the first case, there was a diversion but the diversion signs weren't clear, plus I had no idea where to go (this was in the days before I had satnav on my phone). In trying to find another route, I strayed into the congestion zone. In the second case, there was a sign up saying the road was blocked, and in trying to find another route I noticed that in fact the road wasn't blocked at all, as there was traffic on it. So I doubled back, ignored the sign and just went up the road anyway, however again I had strayed into the congestion zone. If memory serves, somebody had just forgotten to take the sign down (DUH). Anyway, in both cases I got the fine removed. Now I have satnav, I don't go that way anymore :))

Oh no! We ran a benefit gig to raise money for that little community garden, back in the day. What a shame. I thought they had been promised that it would be kept.
  23. I have twice contested (and won) a fine (or whatever it is) for going into a congestion zone area because I had no choice due to a diversion.

  25. Signed and shared. Good luck!
