Oh that's odd. What was it? Could it have been a new person who didn't know they didn't take them?

I'd rather it went to a charity. ETA Thanks so much, I just looked at their website and it does seem they collect. I have some other things to donate as well, some quite bulky, so that would be really helpful

Thanks, I don't really want to go too far afield in the current circumstances. Maybe I'd be better just giving it away on here. That's how I got the newer version I have now 🙂

My shed roof is leaking, which is partly why I thought of replacing it with a green roof. It has that felting stuff on (not sure what it's called) but because I had plants and things in pots on it for a while, the roof has slightly collapsed and distorted a bit. I'm not sure whether I might need to replace or repair it before starting on the green roof. The roof just lifts off (it's a sort of lean to shed).

You could have tried to buy the bike (though not sure how safe that would be). Taken a lot of large threatening looking people with you when you went to collect it? I'm only half joking .....

In the past I have left large pieces of cardboard next to my blue bin, and it has been taken by the bin men. I use cardboard on my allotment now (but I don't need any more, sorry!) ETA: There are often people on the forum looking for cardboard boxes, usually because they are moving house. So you could try advertising it free in the Wanted section?

Admin, please move if this isn't in the right section. I have a record deck I'd like to take to a charity shop (the deck has connections to convert vinyl to MP3s or whatever via appropriate software). Does anybody know if either the hospice shop or the Mind shop takes electrical items? I know when I took an old vintage lamp to the hospice shop they wouldn't take it until I had removed all the wiring, however this deck is newer than the lamp was (though around ten years old I think).

Thanks so much! I've PMed you! At least I thought I had, but it isn't showing up in my 'sent" items. Can you let me know if you don't get the message?

KK I could have transplanted the moss growing on my car windows, but sadly my lovely mechanic removed it 🤣

Good luck Yes I was hoping to do something for pollinating insects, however it's down the side of the house and doesn't get much sun. I will Google! Was hoping someone on here might have done it and could advise!

Clutterqueen's posts (just on this thread): "You must have been unlucky Sue, especially if you've had five crates full of shopping delivered from Tesco and then more delivered from Sainsburys!" and "So the poor bloke that was trying and helping to deliver your shopping has just got the sack!" and then "Not at all Sue, I do not post to get a reaction. Just obvious facts" Nowhere in my posts or anywhere else on here are these "obvious facts" in bold above stated. So I would say, yes, you are posting to provoke, as you do elsewhere on the forum. It's annoying and rather childish, especially on a thread about a serious issue.

I have a very small shed at the side of my house. I'd like to put a green roof on it (i.e. plants). Just wondering if anyone has done this successfully?

Picturehouse to close? (temporarily...)

I specifically said in my email that I did not want to get anybody into trouble, and that I was concerned that there was a training issue. Clutterqueen just provokes to get a reaction.

I received the following email from Tesco yesterday (though I've only just picked it up). It doesn't address the issue of training, but at least they are following it up: Hi there Sue, Thanks for getting in touch. I am really sorry to hear about what happened during the delivery of your last order. I would also feel really uncomfortable if someone stood so unnecessarily close to me while delivering the shopping. He should have never been putting you in that position. Moving forward I have now gone ahead and fed this back to the Store Management Team to make sure this addressed with the colleague in question, and all the other delivery drivers in the team. This will make sure this doesn't happen again. I hope this helps to allay your concerns for future deliveries. Please have a lovely weekend. Can hear a great tit singing somewhere near. Can't see it though 😐

I have just looked back through the thread and seen that I asked about where to get fresh turmeric, so profuse apologies, Foxy 🦊 Still don't know why you are so against the Bellenden Road shops though. You specifically mentioned them as being very expensive. And they are not much more of a walk for you than Sainsbury's is! Down CPR and Adys Road and you're nearly there!

I have feeders with mixed seeds and suet balls (also a feeder with niger seeds, but still I get no goldfinches!) I also put crushed up (since a squirrel made off with one) suet balls on the ground, and mixed seeds on the ground, plus sunflower seeds and dried mealworms (but I think a robin eats the mealworms). The sparrows also sometimes seem to eat insects from the roses and climbers, and I think rosehips in late Summer/Autumn, though less so now as my rambling rose on one side have been drastically reduced (see below). Also there is quite a lot of shelter and places for them to perch in my garden, but less so lately due to somebody nearby making all their neighbours (including me) cut back trees, shrubs and climbers :( on the grounds that they were blocking their light (they have a North East facing garden, but don't seem to realise the implications of that ..... ) I also have large saucers and bowls for birds to drink from/bath in :) and I try to keep them topped up (not a problem at the moment, obviously :)) But this particular flock of sparrows seems to be around a lot of the time, I'm not quite sure why. They seem to be mainly very young (though less so now), apart from one older male (who is maybe showing them the ropes?). The little male ones are just getting their black bibs.

All I get lately is sparrows (up to thirty of them at once, which are fun to watch), wood pigeons and lately - for some reason - feral pigeons. Who arrived shortly after my partner commented on the fact that I never got any feral pigeons in my garden. A couple of days later, there were two at the front of my house. A few days after that, they (well, possibly not the same ones :)) ) arrived in my garden. Strange, eh?

Nnobody is telling you what to do, Foxy, but you seem very anti the shops in Bellenden Road for some reason, as you seem to have come onto this thread just to have a go at them out of the blue? ETA: Oh, and Sainsbury's had loads of shops in the fifties. It was a chain then! It started in 1869! Amazing what you can find out by googling! By the fifties, it had even gone self-service in some stores (not the one in Streatham Hill, though). https://www.sainsburyarchive.org.uk/timeline/150 The first self-service store that I remember was Waitrose in Streatham, which opened in 1955 just up from St Leonard's Church. Made a change from shopping with my mum in Home and Colonial, just a little way down the hill on the other side of the church :))

I have a freezer full of home cooked plant-based meals, plus three ring binders of recipes :)) Though I am no longer strictly vegan, as the vegan diet I was on gave me digestive problems :( ETA: Oh and I do occasionally eat fish.
