Sorry to hear this. Is it possible that the glasses belonged to the thief? If so, might they have fingerprints on them? ETA sorry, duh, they may have fingerprints on them even if they didn't belong to the thief.

Southwark police posted an appeal for witnesses on Twitter on 14 October. I only know that via a post on my road's WhatsApp group. It's possible that there were valid operational reasons for not publicising it before, but I don't know what they would be. Does anybody know if they have caught the people involved? Also, does anybody know how they got into the house?

So Helen Hayes' visit doesn't seem to have had much effect? 😭

I used to work in diversity. At that time, positive discrimination was allowed in training for currently under-represented groups, so that they could compete for jobs on a more level basis. Positive discrimination in selection procedures (eg by quotas) was illegal, and rightly so in my opinion. Targets were legal, but not quotas.

Sorry, posted something I'd already posted. DUH.

But the OP's post was from yesterday morning? There was a burst main on the South Circular yesterday early afternoon ..... don't know when it started, but the road was flooded for a considerable distance on the side opposite the park. There was one tiny Thames Water van there when I passed ..... I don't think it could have affected Lordship Lane though. Was there a burst main somewhere else as well?

I have found the flyer. It was from Thames Water. It says "Protect your property and your planet. Collect fats and oils in an old pot. Wait for them to cool down. Throw them in the bin."

At the time I moved to BT, they had some kind of cashback offer which meant it was actually cheaper than Plusnet over the period of the initial contract (I temporarily moved my mobile to BT for the same reason). After both the contracts expired, I moved my broadband back to Plusnet and my mobile back to iD. However I'd never use BT again regardless of cost, because their customer service was absolutely appalling. They were also incredibly rude when I left, once it became clear that I wasn't interested in any of their "offers" to induce me to stay. I may try their router again in light of what others have said above, however I'm not sure I've still got it :(

They just can't mix with people from another household, and would have to socially distance in any case. Not sure quite what you are getting at?

So what happens if a household in tier two wants to visit a household in tier one? Is that allowed or not?

Not long ago, the bin people sent round a flyer telling everyone how to dispose of old cooking oil. I never deep fry anything, so it wasn't of any interest to me, but I'm sure there is probably the same information on either the council or Veolia (spelling?)'s website.

My surgery is using their waiting room, but the vast majority of consultations are by phone. But you can't give a flu jab by phone 🤣 There were three patients max in the waiting room during the time I was there, very widely distanced. And masked, obviously.

DulwichFox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Charity shops will no longer take used electrical > items > They have to be PAT Tested for them to sell them. > > That's the law.. Yes, so the charity shops which do take them get them PAT tested. I've always assumed they have a volunteer who does this for free, as it probably wouldn't be worth their while otherwise. I've also always assumed that the ones who don't take them don't have such a person. But of course I could be wrong on all counts 🤣

Re bonaome's post above, I have Plusnet. I have also in the past used BT and didn't find any difference in the router performance, though I was expecting to. On the rare occasions I need to use broadband in a room where the signal is weak, I run a long phone extension cable to the room and just plug the router into an electric socket there. It's much cheaper than other methods, though obviously not ideal if you want something permanent. You just have to not trip over the cable 🤣

Oh that's odd. What was it? Could it have been a new person who didn't know they didn't take them?

I'd rather it went to a charity. ETA Thanks so much, I just looked at their website and it does seem they collect. I have some other things to donate as well, some quite bulky, so that would be really helpful
