Monopoly situation then. That's bad.

  3. Complaints on here always seem to be about Virgin! I am genuinely bemused as to why people stay with them. Is it because they are much much better than other providers when you can actually get online?

  6. Really sorry to hear this. Did anyone phone the police? I can understand people not wanting to get directly involved, presumably for fear of being hurt, but I find it hard to understand people who just pass by and don't even try to get help for the person being attacked. I hope your brother is OK and not too traumatised. Glad to hear that at least one person came to help.
  7. Thanks Zig-Zag, that's reassuring. Especially as the last time I heard mega bird commotion it was on my allotment, and followed by a fox trotting away with a pigeon in its mouth 😮
  8. There have been threads about this on here in past years. I'm sure they will be cluster flies. Someone on here identified them for me when I had them in my house (haven't had them since, thank goodness!)
  9. For all you know, the girl is ill or being abused.

  11. What is only just becoming apparent (partly from the King's Zoe symptom survey) is that there are very many people (of all ages, including many young people who were fit and healthy before) who have ongoing, varied and debilitating Covid-19 symptoms which come and go, in some cases for months. Most of them will not have been seen in a hospital, though some have. If you are doing the Zoe survey and report symptoms, it actually gives links to a Facebook support group. Jimlad48, I suggest you do some research before posting your rather offensive opinions on here. And being over seventy and in the vulnerable group for other reasons, I find your assumption that my life is not worth saving repellent, to say the least. It's a pity this government didn't take the sort of action New Zealand did, then we would probably all be back to normal life by now.

Not as long as the EDT for example, no. How > long has it been where it is. ? It opened in July 2017, so nearly three years. I'm absolutely gutted it is closing, and judging by the number of followers it had on social media (I wasn't one of them, I just looked to try to find out when it opened) I won't be the only one. They had very good quality plants and pots and other nice things, they had things that were in all price ranges, they were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and never put pressure on you to buy. I really hope that they will be able to come back to East Dulwich in some form in the future.
  13. Once I found the right department to talk to (which took a lot longer than it should have done) I found Thames Water very helpful about a drainage issue at the front of my house.

I suspect that as soon as you show any signs of Covid symptoms, your posts on here will be somewhat less enthusiastic about "I might as well be dead anyway." Obviously I hope this won't be the case, however you put me in mind of Boris Johnson boasting about shaking hands with hospital patients with the virus, then ending up on a ventilator 😢 In case of any doubt, I don't wish you ill. I just find your attitude very strange .... Staying at home except for urgent appointments etc does not have to be "totally giving up on life" and in any case it's not for ever (one hopes!)

DulwichFox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Interesting that the UK has some of the most > Stringent Restrictions on Social Distancing > and Self Isolation .. > Compared to who? The UK locked down too late and not completely, and thousands of deaths could have been avoided if they had locked down even two weeks earlier. And "a little exposure" for some people can be fatal.
  17. My tadpoles are now froglets, and some of them have begun leaping from the sink into the garden! I have provided a ramp, but they seem to prefer just jumping ... Weirdly, some of the leapers still have quite long tails 😮 Also - for the first time in thirty years I saw a bat swooping around the garden (a couple of nights ago, around 11pm). Ulverscroft Road. Hope they don't eat froglets 😮 The sad reason for my being in the garden was that I heard what seemed to be a blackbird alarm call plus some bird commotion, which was strange at that time of night I thought a cat was probably involved, plus probably young birds, but sadly it turned out the noise wasn't close enough for me to shoo away the cat. I had to close my bedroom window, because the alarm call went on for ages and it was quite distressing 😢
  18. That's really useful, thanks 🙂

I assume that neither you nor anybody you love/know has been affected by this virus, and that you believe that the thousands of deaths are due to panic and hysteria? And the New Zealand (for example) government's swift and effective actions - you also think those were due to panic and hysteria? New Zealand has (apart from the latest glitch caused by infected people from this country) been able to get back to normal due to what you describe as overreaction, panic and hysteria. Yes, 100% of people born will die. Well spotted. However some of us would prefer not to die avoidable and unpleasant deaths because of the failures of both the government and selfish people who think even lax and confused guidelines are overreaction, panic and hysteria and therefore they can just ignore them. 😬

  23. Why is this thread in the lounge, btw?
  24. Just had a look too, and they are shortly closing down their gardening services as well 😢 https://www.pearspring.co.uk/
