Indeed. But from ED, you can more easily get to Sydenham Woods from Cox's Walk (unless you have mobility problems, as it's a fairly long steepish walk from the road to that entrance). And unfortunately (given its excellent position very near one of the entrances to the woods, where you can also easily park) The Wood House is a sad apology for a pub, with AstroTurf and plastic shrubs in the "garden" 😠I always liked Crystal Palace, even before it became gentrified. It used to be considered so down market it took to calling itself Upper Norwood, with the emphasis on the "Upper", in a bid to improve its image. Or maybe that was just the estate agents. How things change.

At 2.15pm today the alarm to the right (as you face it) of the dentist in North Cross Road was bleeping again. I could hear it up to Ulverscroft Road, but I turned off there, so I don't know if you can hear it beyond that. If nobody has identified anything else, I'm pretty sure that must be the noise that people are referring to on here. It would be a great coincidence (though not impossible) if there was another bleeping noise in more or less exactly the same area.

Reposession notice on marias tortilla

Unfortunately, lovely as it is, it wouldn't be a suitable venue for the forum drinks. Not enough space for people to mingle and get to know each other, and it would get in the way of other customers. Upstairs at the EDT has comfy seating, lots of space and is quiet on a Wednesday night, so we will stay there, if the managers let us! The next drinks aren't arranged yet, but will be in September. We had a break in August as so many people are away. My partner and I will be coming back to Maria's for another delicious meal, though! -
No Flies get a lot of recommendations on here. If I was selling, that's who I'd go to first. https://no-flies.co.uk/ But I haven't used them, so I have no first hand experience.

That's really good news! -
Ban dogs altogether? Guide dogs? Dogs who can detect various illnesses? Sniffer dogs who can find missing people and things like explosives? Guard dogs? Sheep dogs? Dogs who provide friendship and comfort to people who don't otherwise have it? And how on earth is reducing the food consumed by dogs in, say, the UK going to provide food for starving people elsewhere?
-
It seems to me that possibly some people got dogs during Covid but knew nothing about dogs (and still don't know much) and other people see them as some sort of fashion accessory and mostly just ignore them. I love dogs, but knowing the time, expense and commitment that goes into having, exercising and properly training one, I don't have one myself. I just say hello to other people's.

Are you by any chance connected with this place?

Police sirens on grove vale/Lordship Lane

It was implied, if we are talking about the candy shop comparison. -
If there's something iffy with the organisation, how come The Plough has it in its car park? Are they being paid shedloads of money to have the bin there?

First public meeting of new left wing party at Ruskin House in Croydon

Stereotyping, or what?! 🤣 -
Does anybody else think that every section on this forum seems to be turning into the lounge? Is this why they call it the silly season? 🤣

My GP practice (The Gardens) now has a system whereby you can message them with non urgent medical queries, and if necessary attach photos etc. I've found this really useful, I have had replies from a GP quite quickly. It saves everybody's time because you don't have to book a phone call and hang about for it, and you don't have to sit in a waiting room when the GP may be running late. And both you and the GP can message at the most convenient time for each of you. If the GP thinks you need to be seen, they book an appointment with the appropriate person (I was recently told I had to see a nurse, and I got an appointment the same day).

Where to take a 9 year old during summer holiday.
Sue replied to Pugwash's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We are all different, in different situations and with different personalities. Pugwash has said that it is important to them to play a significant part in their grandchildrens' lives. You might do things differently, but you are not Pugwash! -
You asked if someone could find out where the dog was. Someone did. So presumably the address is known. That was the reason for my post. The rest of my post was to identify the post concerned. I can see that wasn't clear. Sorry. There's no point my editing it, as then your post won't make sense.

Somebody posted above that they have spoken to the people concerned, who are looking after the dog for a relative, but not all the time.

Can you still just drop in to Kings Walk in Xray?
Sue replied to sunbob's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Doesn't Kings have a minor injuries place alongside A&E? Maybe I've imagined it. I wish they would ban speakers on phones there. I recently unexpectedly had to go to Kings late at night due to 111 making a mistake and then phoning me several hours later to tell me I had to go to Kings and no it wouldn't wait till morning. In the waiting room I eventually got to after having "medical history?" barked at me etc etc (what do they want, a list of all my ailments since childhood?) there was a TV with the sound on quite high, plus three people all watching different things on their mobiles with the sound on even higher. That was in addition to the usual other disruptions, people shouting etc etc. It's not a great place to be at the best of times if you are ill or injured (I don't mean the medical care, which is generally great once you have got as far as getting it). The only upside was that at least I was able to get a late bus home after I had been treated. -
You can take it to the hospice charity shop in a bag clearly marked "rags".

Depends whether the possible fracture is in your foot or leg! -
Oh, lucky you! I've only ever seen one once, and that wasn't even in England! Just looked it up. This is interesting: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hummingbird_hawk-moth
