  1. Last call for these before they go to the charity shop!
  2. Ground nesting bees are different. They don't swarm in the same way. https://beehunterma.com/how-to-safely-get-rid-of-ground-nesting-bees/#:~:text=Using a hose%2C gently soak, labeled for ground-nesting bees. Sorry I think that might be American bees. But so far as I can see the method for UK bees with water would be the same. It seems the most humane way, as it just encourages them to relocate. I had a nest of white tailed bumble bees in my garden last year. It was fascinating watching them go in and out of the ground. But then I didn't need to put a shed over them!
  3. So. Last night Royal Mail customer service kept me waiting a quarter of an hour with no indication of the wait time, then closed the service down at 6.30pm. This morning I waited half an hour to speak to someone. First they told me to make a claim via their website, then reluctantly agreed they could do it on the phone. They required both my and my daughter's name, addresses, postcodes and email addresses, plus my phone number. WHY? THEN they told me a CHEQUE for £9.85 would be sent to my address!!!!!! No compensation for everybody's wasted time, just the Special Delivery (hollow laugh) fee back. I did point out a) we weren't in the Stone Age and b) this cheque would probably either never arrive or be stuck for months in the local delivery office beneath mounds of other mail which never gets delivered. I felt very sorry for this guy. I hope he is well paid. What a terrible job to have. So now, assuming I ever get the cheque, I will have to queue up at the Post Office to pay it in. Having already queued up to post an item for a non existent service in the first place. GRRRRR. Can I be bothered to write to the CEO? No, probably not. I'll just get some bland standard letter back sent by some other poor person with a terrible job.

Yes, and it's dangerous and worrying.
  5. What does someone who has "just come out of prison" look and sound like? Your description fits many people, most of whom I imagine have never been in prison. Whilst most people who have been in prison probably look nothing like your description. A completely irrelevant assumption. Thanks for the heads-up, though.
  6. East Dulwich has a ramp doesn't it? It certainly does on the way to the platform to go to London Bridge
  7. I'm confused. If there are no lifts, does that mean people who are in wheelchairs or who otherwise can't easily walk, or who have heavy wheeled cases which they can't lift up and down stairs, can't use Peckham Rye station? I'd have thought that was against some or other disability legislation?
  8. My daughter in Oxford has similar problems. I had to send something (of no monetary value) to her by Special Delivery yesterday, just to make sure she actually got it within a reasonable time scale ETA: And then I coukdn't even log in to the Royal Mail app to effing track it. I just kept getting a message saying "sorry, we are experiencing high demand. Please try again." I GOT THIS MESSAGE EVERY TIME I TRIED AGAIN So eventually I went onto the Royal Mail website and managed to actually track it. I paid for delivery by 1pm. The tracking says their "service guarantee is to attempt delivery by 1pm the next working day" and "exceptions apply to some addresses". But it also says "we normally expect to deliver to your address between 12.26 and 6.26pm" What exactly have I paid for? The service I would "normally expect" from buying a first class stamp? This is Oxford, not some tiny village in the middle of nowhere. It eventually arrived after 6pm. I suppose I should be grateful it arrived at all. 🤬
  9. Thank you so much for that link. I had no idea they were there. Also there's a brilliant video on their website about making environmentally friendly gardens, both the hard landscaping materials and the plants used. I learned a lot. Though it was a bit disconcerting hearing someone talk with a fraightfully posh accent exactly like the late Queen. I will definitely be visiting!
  10. Franklins is lovely but it usually only has one veggie option, so if your vegetarian doesn't like it they might find it hard to find something else. So it might be worth checking out in advance what's on the menu on the night you want to book. Maria's is also lovely, but it's very small. I didn't think they had a table large enough for 8, but reading the above I'm obviously wrong!

If you are referring to me, I was using my mobile. Just quoting the post I was replying to would have made no sense without showing my original post as well. I wouldn't have been able to do that on a "real PC" either, assuming I carried one around with me everywhere. It's nothing to do with what I'm using, it's the way the forum is set up to quote posts. I did insert a screenshot showing the keyboard by mistake.
  12. You have to book for the Sunday roasts in advance. I have bad memories of once going for a circular walk around Downe and then trying to eat. The Queens Head staff (and customers) looked at us as if we were mad for attempting to get a meal without booking. The other pub in the village reeked of bleach. We had to drive around in search of a meal, and ended up at some large pub whose name and location I have thankfully forgotten. All I remember is the food, which was truly awful.
  13. All very strange. Grammar is not anybody's strong point in that second piece, is it? ETA: I realise grammar is not relevant to the matter under discussion!

I didn't ask you whether or not Brexit happened! I am sadly only too well aware that it did! I asked you what were its positive effects! I'm not able to quote the whole post I'm referring to and your answer, apparently, so here's a screenshot . You don't seem to have answered anything I asked?
  15. Definitely no feature walls!
  16. We have a place and a date for the first (and hopefully not the last) reborn ED Forum drinks! We have booked tables at The Palmerston on Wednesday 11 June at 7pm, in the area by the window on the left as you come in. It would be very helpful to us (and particularly the pub) if you could PM us in good time if you intend to come, so that we are not reserving tables which won't be used. We will provide labels and pens for those who would like to use them - definitely not compulsory! Any comments or queries, please post them here or PM me!
  17. Agree. Downloaded the file and can't open it. And unfortunately not sufficiently interested to persevere. I presume it needs something installed on my mobile to read pub files.
  18. My bird app just picked up swifts before I heard or saw them!
  19. I don't remember this! What on earth were people feeding their dogs? Chalk?!

How did he "put down everything British"? Please give examples! And as for "the effects of Brexit on this country", do you think he was wrong? What exactly do you think are the positive effects of Brexit on this country?
  21. So far as I know, he lives somewhere in Wandsworth, but maybe he has moved!
  22. Ex Tories? I'd have thought more likely ex BNP 😭
  23. Try Dell Autos, Hansler Road. Not VW specialists so far as I know, but reliable and knowledgeable mechanics. I'm sure they would tell you honestly if they were able to fix it, and if not would point you in the direction of someone who could. And they are friendly, and reasonably priced. http://www.dellautos.com/
