Thanks, I had been feeling rubbish with bad headaches etc since early June (the tick bite was in May) and having hypochondriac tendencies and done a lot of googling had convinced myself it was Lyme disease, so I am quite relieved it is being treated even if it isn't there, if that makes sense!

The Fox has left the Forum. However apparently he lives by different laws to the rest of us :)) :)) :)) Perhaps he uses the word "pedantry" to mean something other than its normal meaning as well. His use of "of" instead of "have" has driven me mad (der) for some considerable time.
  4. intexasatthe moment Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hope you got some answers today Sue and are on the > road to recovery . I thought I'd posted a response yesterday, but it must have got lost in the ether! I saw a really helpful and knowledgeable consultant at St. George's. She thinks it is highly unlikely that I have Lyme disease, but just to be absolutely sure (and to set my mind at rest for the future) she has prescribed three weeks on a high dose of Doxycycline, which is the antibiotic of choice for Lyme disease and will thoroughly zap any bacteria should they be there. She agrees with King's that the vertigo is probably due to vestibular neuritis, and almost certainly due to a virus and nothing to do with Lyme. It wasn't her specialism, but her husband had it so she had personal experience, which was useful for me! She said it is very debilitating, which is why I am feeling so ill and exhausted, and gave me a lot of good advice about handling it - including making myself do things instead of sitting around at home. I had stopped taking the tablets I was prescribed because they were making me feel worse, and she has recommended something else to help my system gradually get back to normal, which may take some time. She also gave me quite a bit of advice which was unexpected for a medical doctor, including things to get from a "health food" shop, and taking up "mindfulness"! I was out last night and today I am feeling quite a bit better and brighter - psychological, probably! Long may it continue! Thanks everybody for your advice and sympathy, and I hope anybody else out there who is ill will have a speedy recovery!

  8. The October/November issue of The Peckham Peculiar has a piece headed "Royal Fail" which ends with a statement from "A Royal Mail spokeswoman" which includes "She added that customers can use the free redelivery service, which means their item can be redelivered to their address or another in the same postcode area - including on Saturdays - by calling the number on their delivery card." Yeh, right. Redelivered at a time of Royal Mail's choosing, not redelivered at the time requested of, and specified by, the customer.

  10. If the smell is strong in the shared hallway, is it possible that other people have access to the hallway and are smoking there?
  11. Hope you get well soon!

  13. Frogs don't live in ponds usually, I think? They go there to mate in the Spring? :) I stand to be corrected. They certainly wander round my garden at night in the Summer. And used to hibernate in the Winter in a tub I had (but I don't have water in the tub any more).
  14. :)) :)) :)) ETA: I rest my case :))

Don't let me put you off, but I suspect it would be quite high maintenance even in a small garden, and you would need to be very careful what plants you used if you were to keep it looking good.

Ah, OK. Don't want to put you off, but these can be very hard indeed to keep in good condition. Good luck!
  23. With the weird weather this year, especially the very hot dry summer, could it have been loosened by the ground around it moving? What material is it surrounded by? If concrete, are there any cracks in the concrete?
  24. PeckhamRose Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- But now I know that > they're available in libraries that's useful. I don't know whether all libraries have them, but Dulwich Library does (the main one near The Plough). Also, they no longer restrict the number of brown bags they will give you at a time. They do sometimes run out, though.
  25. This can't be allowed to go on, can it? Can it?
