That's a lovely idea. Perhaps there could be a placque of some kind on the tree (or in the tree pit)?

Is this place going to be the sort of thing the Flying Pig started off as?

Travelling from ED to Stansted airport early weekday

The 40 goes to Fenchurch Street. But the 35 goes to Liverpool Street. You can pick it up at Camberwell Green. -

I don't know anything about Purple Bricks, but have you tried googling Purple Bricks reviews?

I hope you aren't too shaken up. I agree about the possible reason for the driver not stopping, but it would be nice to think s/he had called the police once out of view.

Very sorry to hear this. Is there CCTV at the ATM? Was it definitely her who drew the money out?

The circus comes to that part of Peckham Rye every year, doesn't it? ETA: Sorry, Cella, just seen your post.

Some of us prefer to say good morning/good evening to people other than those in a bank who are paid to be polite to us...... But hey, each to their own. The dinosaurs have always moaned about progress. If it was up to people like you, we'd still be in the stone age :)) :)) :))

Why did nobody pull the red lever to alert the driver? I would have done....

Well you are a dying breed. Banks can hardly be expected to cater for the few. They are businesses, after all. And it isn't true that "personal" banking no longer exists. The people at First Direct are lovely - just on a phone. And I had a bouquet of flowers from them when they went a bit over the top on fraud prevention and wrongly barred my card once :) ETA: Frankly, I've found them a lot more lovely than some of the people I've dealt with face to face in the past in an actual physical bank!

And surely it's exactly because it's in what is presently a drought place for beer that it would do well? I would go, and I don't live up that end of ED. ETA: No I didn't go to Barcelona (twice was enough) but that was because it was crap :))

Well, the world and technology move on. I'm amazed we are still using cash at all. I'd be interested to know the proportion of people who still do all their banking at a physical building.

Sweetgirl. Try First Direct. Or M&S Bank. They both have excellent customer service (in my experience) and they both seem to have customer service centres based in the UK. First Direct did have a really good deal for new customer, though it may have finished (no use to me, I've been with them for decades). If you need an actual physical bank branch, you can use the Post Office. And with M&S you get points to spend in M&S (and also there was a very good deal if you already have a credit card with them, but that may have finished now as well). Banking is so complicated these days. I used to have just one current account, and now I've got four or five, moving money around between them :))

If you put your own postcode and the ground's postcode into Google Maps and opt for the public transport option, you can see which is the quickest travel option at the time you have to leave (or arrive). It will probably vary depending on the time of day. Same with coming back.

I think that was mentioned at some point, but basically they don't really know what it is, so they are treating the symptoms. They have ruled out a number of things it isn't, but I'm still waiting for some test results :( ETA: Thanks Ianr, I've had this for a week, it started last Monday morning.

You would know if it was a tick as you would have had to pull the effing thing out (unless you missed it completely and it finished sucking your blood and dropped off sated ..... :)) ) Also, I don't get the symptoms lying down, only when I move. Doesn't mean you don't, of course. I don't think vertigo is a common symptom of Lyme Disease, however the SELDoc doctor I spoke to prior to being carted off to A&E said he had experience of Lyme and seemed to think there could be a connection.

Dont know what medication she was > prescribed. Was this recently? If it is a bug going round it might be more explicable as SingAlto has also had it recently? My discharge diagnosis was "likely vestibular neuritis" ie an inner ear thing probably, and probably viral (as it started on the last day of a two week course of antibiotics :( ) However I also have other apparently unrelated symptoms :(

I'm wondering if there could be a bug currently going around which includes vertigo. Has anybody had this? No offence, but I'm looking for personal experience, not a copy and paste of googled articles - I am all googled out :) I have had vertigo for a week so far, was in hospital a few days (not looking for sympathy, just to give background), had an MRI and a load of tests and no cause has been found yet. In case you don't know, which I didn't previously, vertigo is not just being a bit dizzy, it is being unable even to sit up because the whole world spins round and if you are unlucky you throw up. I'm on medication but it isn't completely controlling it :( Also, if anybody has had personal experience of Lyme Disease (spread by a tick bite) and in particular of vertigo possibly related to it, please could you PM me, thanks. Again, I don't want general googled articles, I've already done all that, thanks.

So was it worth it? ( the recent festival on Peckham Rye)

Royal Mail Sorting Office Closure Meeting..

singalto Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The details are in the OP?s original message. Ah OK, yes I remember that meeting now. Apologies! I was there too. The union rep was giving out rather mixed messages, if memory serves. ETA: I was confused after RedJam's reference to a "protest meeting", but the meeting at the community centre and the protest outside the sorting office were two separate things. -
DulwichFox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > The Bays (Single Storey)probably do not have the > same depth of foundation as the main building. > Which may mean that although the bay will need to > be rebuilt, the house hopefully will be > unaffected. > Yes, that's the case, however I'm pretty sure it is not the differential depths of foundation which is the problem in this case, although I'm sure it doesn't help, otherwise the whole street would probably be affected. It is the fact that the bay was unexpectedly found not to have clay beneath it, but made ground plus silty sand, and then silty clay at three metres. The report says that their opinion is that damage has occurred due to consolidation subsidence. This has been caused by "consolidation of the weak underlying subsoil, which in turn has affected the foundations." More people are coming to look at it next week with a view to deciding what to do about it. Oh happy days.
