  2. I may be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that if Labour get in they will look to unprivatise (is that a word?) Royal Mail?
  3. Just want to thank you for your interactions on here, James. Appreciated.
  4. Hope you and your wife are OK and not too shaken, rendelharris.

But this half-way house isn't doing anybody any favours, is it? Either you accept somebody's offer and take the house off the market until they are in a position to go ahead, or you don't. ETA: Or at the very least, you are honest with the potential buyer and say that if somebody comes along who is able to go ahead straight away, you will pull out of the deal you had with the first person. I'd be really upset if I thought I was going ahead with a purchase (assuming all concerned thought I could easily sell my own place) and the seller suddenly pulled out.

  7. Thanks Cactus. I am still awaiting some test results.
  8. Started off well, then :))
  9. Ooh, stouts and porters. Bring it on!
  10. Is it April Fools Day already? I bloody hate that song about mice with clogs on going clop clippety clop up the stair. Edited to change clip to clop. Or is it in fact clip? :))
  11. That's a lovely idea. Perhaps there could be a placque of some kind on the tree (or in the tree pit)?
  12. Is this place going to be the sort of thing the Flying Pig started off as?
  13. The 40 goes to Fenchurch Street. But the 35 goes to Liverpool Street. You can pick it up at Camberwell Green.

  15. I don't know anything about Purple Bricks, but have you tried googling Purple Bricks reviews?
  16. I hope you aren't too shaken up. I agree about the possible reason for the driver not stopping, but it would be nice to think s/he had called the police once out of view.
  17. Very sorry to hear this. Is there CCTV at the ATM? Was it definitely her who drew the money out?
  18. The circus comes to that part of Peckham Rye every year, doesn't it? ETA: Sorry, Cella, just seen your post.

Some of us prefer to say good morning/good evening to people other than those in a bank who are paid to be polite to us...... But hey, each to their own. The dinosaurs have always moaned about progress. If it was up to people like you, we'd still be in the stone age :)) :)) :))
  21. Why did nobody pull the red lever to alert the driver? I would have done....

Well you are a dying breed. Banks can hardly be expected to cater for the few. They are businesses, after all. And it isn't true that "personal" banking no longer exists. The people at First Direct are lovely - just on a phone. And I had a bouquet of flowers from them when they went a bit over the top on fraud prevention and wrongly barred my card once :) ETA: Frankly, I've found them a lot more lovely than some of the people I've dealt with face to face in the past in an actual physical bank!

And surely it's exactly because it's in what is presently a drought place for beer that it would do well? I would go, and I don't live up that end of ED. ETA: No I didn't go to Barcelona (twice was enough) but that was because it was crap :))
