  2. If the smell is strong in the shared hallway, is it possible that other people have access to the hallway and are smoking there?

  5. Frogs don't live in ponds usually, I think? They go there to mate in the Spring? :) I stand to be corrected. They certainly wander round my garden at night in the Summer. And used to hibernate in the Winter in a tub I had (but I don't have water in the tub any more).

Don't let me put you off, but I suspect it would be quite high maintenance even in a small garden, and you would need to be very careful what plants you used if you were to keep it looking good.

Ah, OK. Don't want to put you off, but these can be very hard indeed to keep in good condition. Good luck!
  15. With the weird weather this year, especially the very hot dry summer, could it have been loosened by the ground around it moving? What material is it surrounded by? If concrete, are there any cracks in the concrete?

I don't know whether all libraries have them, but Dulwich Library does (the main one near The Plough). Also, they no longer restrict the number of brown bags they will give you at a time. They do sometimes run out, though.
  17. This can't be allowed to go on, can it? Can it?

Thanks much I have frogs in my garden, and the only water I have now is an old butler sink with water and pond plants in. There are probably several gardens in that area with frog inhabitants! My partner and I once found one hopping up the pavement on Crystal Palace Road.
  19. Thanks both. I'm not making a special trip up there for one light bulb, so it will have to wait for my next visit! Thanks again!

I was in the children's bit of the A and E in King's not long ago, and there was what appeared to be a whole family in there eating burgers and chips.

Language changes, otherwise we'd all still be speaking and writing like Chaucer (assuming he spoke like he wrote :)) ) or in fact, going back to the mists of time, just sort of burbling :))
  22. Thank God I changed from the Science to the Social Science faculty at uni :)) (I was the only person in first year chemistry who not only got none of their deposit back, but I broke so much stuff I had to pay more. Happy days :)) :)):)) )
  23. A long life light bulb has just come to the end of its long life. Does anybody know if these can be recycled in Southwark (and if so where) or if they need to be disposed of in some special place (and if so where), or if they just go in the green bin for landfill? Thanks!
  24. They are still in use. You can get them from the library (and other places). Not everybody has space for a large brown bin!

Not sure what you mean by a vertical garden, but there are lots of fab climbers which will clothe the garden boundaries. You just need to make sure you choose plants suited to the soil and to the direction the plants will face. ETA: If they aren't self-clinging, you will need to put some vine eyes and horizontal wires onto the walls and fences, so they have something to climb on, and be prepared to tie the plants in as necessary. Don't plant them too near the base of the wall/fence or they may get no rain. Start them off with a cane angled towards the wall/fence. ETA: Don't do as I stupidly did and plant a load of very vigorous climbers in a very small garden, however .....
