I said "greeted", not "chat with their mates whilst ignoring other customers." Greet. Aka " give a polite word of recognition or sign of welcome when meeting (someone)". Google it. FFS.

  3. Yep, agree it is the noise level which is the issue. Particularly in this heat when people are likely to be sleeping with their windows open.
  4. Personally the last thing I want when I go into a shop is to be greeted, when I just want to have a mooch around in peace. Unless I know the person concerned, that's different!

Fair? Many children don't seem to go to bed after 8pm. There are several shrieking from a garden several houses down and across (ie not in my road) as I type this - at twenty to nine on a Monday night.

We sell tickets via WeGotTickets, and we used to get the postcodes of ticket purchasers, which was useful for us to see how far people came for a particular gig, for future promotion purposes for example. I recently had a communication from WeGotTickets to say that they would no longer provide these postcodes, due to the recent data protection changes.

Yes, my partner and I were saying this recently. If children think it's OK to scream and shout outside on a regular basis (apart from in a park or playground) then they will grow up to be the kind of parents who let their own children do the same.
  8. It is all about consideration for others, isn't it? Although in my experience, children sleep through most external noise.
  9. Would whoever wrote the prescription know of one locally?
  10. What exactly has Trump "achieved"?

  12. Surely if it was a genuine work call, but the contact name doesn't come up or you don't recognise the number, you could just let them leave a message? And then you can call them back? If no message is left, google the number. Usually if it is a spam call the number will come up on one of the many sites which monitor spam calls, then you can just put it in your contacts as spam so you will know the next time? I rarely use my landline but I have it for broadband. I never answer it. It is on permanent voicemail, but I have the speaker on so if it is someone I know I can then just answer it. If it isn't, and it's spam, they usually hang up as soon as the recorded message starts. I am supposed to be registered on the TPS scheme for both the landline and mobile. I rarely get spam mobile calls any more, but I do still get a few on the landline.

  14. Thanks Robin, I didn't know that. It's a Birch.
  15. What have other noise sources got to do with this issue? ETA: I'll give you a clue. Nothing.
  16. Your grandchildren may be awake at 6am but surely they don't have to play in the garden? That's just totally anti social.
  17. I've had a few of these. I just tell them to f**k off and then tag the number as spam.
  18. We were at the march/rally yesterday. I have since seen this, which is one of the most bizarre things I have ever had the misfortune to watch. https://www.facebook.com/BBCPolitics/videos/2329172733766238/UzpfSTc4MjI4MjE3NToxMDE1Njc3MTIzMTEyMjE3Ng/

You just have to click on their name and look at their posts on the two forum games where they appear to spend most time to get a feel for what kind of person they are.
  20. Be careful what you wish for! I had a tree replaced outside my house some years back, when the original one was vandalised, and I really had to push the council to replace it. Now it is so big it cuts out the sun to my living room :(

  22. Doubt it's been stolen. People round here seem to chop down trees willy nilly if they think they may be damaging their property. ETA: Or in some cases the council may remove them if in fact the trees are damaging somebody's property??

I wouldn't have thought, however, you needed the most expensive kind, and Macs and iPhones are top end aka luxury end, no?
