There could be all sorts of reasons why the bin hasn't been replaced. What makes you think the council "can't be bothered" to deliver it?
  2. What worries me is where some of my post may be ending up. I assumed it was somewhere in the black hole which appears to be the mail system round here at the moment, but now I'm thinking .... what if it's being delivered to empty houses? Or houses with people who can't be bothered to repost wrongly delivered items? I'm still waiting for a gift card which was sent out in October (it's been cancelled and I've received the replacement, but where is the original?) It's all very well if you know something has been posted to you and you haven't received it, but what about the things you aren't expecting?

TFL really should put notices on bus stops when a particular bus has temporarily changed its route and is not stopping there. I only found out when I eventually used the Bus Countdown app on my phone to see when the next 12 was, and what came up was a long list of other buses but no 12s. When I clicked on 12 specifically, I just got a blank page :( I'd had a long long day trekking around Oxford Street and I really could have done without this at the end of it :( I only went for the 12 in the first place to save me further trekking up to Tottenham Court Road to get the 176 (I avoid the underground wherever possible) but then I had to (and had to wait ages for that, as well, grrrr).
  4. Thank you for reporting this, Isolde2018. I meant to report it a few weeks back, and forgot all about it. It is a very scary stretch to walk down in the dark, particularly alone, but a very long way round if you avoid that path altogether because of the dark section. There didn't seem to be any lighting in the car park either (which can be a short cut depending on where you are going) - is there supposed to be? I didn't want to stop and investigate at the time.
  5. There were two litter pickers in my street (off North Cross Road) last week, one on each side of the road.
  6. Yesterday I had all my neighbour's post delivered to me. Today I got a letter for a different road (same number as mine). When I returned it to the postie, he said "The machine does it". Do they not look at what they are putting through the letter box???

  8. I waited for a 12 for ages this evening in Regent Street, at a bus stop with no indication the 12 was not using it. Apparently the 12 is not currently going down Regent Street. Does anybody know why? Grrrrrr.

I was held up at the Elephant on a bus today because of the protest, but I support them wholeheartedly. To the best of my knowledge emergency vehicles were being let through. These people are not "prats prancing about". They are people who care about you and your childrens' future and are trying to get others to see the danger we are in as a species and as a planet.
  10. malumbu Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > Remaining on the subject of civil society, do any > of us as citizens challenge the incidents above? Sadly, I don't even challenge people who drop litter these days, unless they look particularly harmless. It's a matter of self preservation, frankly. If somebody steals, you don't know what else they might do. ETA: I would however inform a security guard or staff member if I saw somebody shoplifting.
  11. You probably know this already, but eczema can sometimes be due to diet, particularly dairy intolerance. Don't know how old your little one is, but if they are having dairy products had you thought of cutting them out for a while to see if the eczema improves? I think oranges can also sometimes make eczema worse for some people?
  12. I genuinely don't understand why somebody would want to keep terrapins, or any other creature for that matter, if they don't know how to care for them properly and humanely. Well OK, vicious dogs (for example) I can understand for a certain type of person, but terrapins??

I'm pretty sure doctors won't give you a sick note for under 5 days.
  14. Might it be useful to look into mediation?

It was such a shambles it would have been quite funny if we hadn't paid for it. Against our better judgement we had lunch there earlier this year because the grandkids were pleading starvation and it was the nearest place to where we were at the time. Every aspect of the meal was appalling. And it wasn't cheap. And yes I complained, but I did feel sorry for the person serving us such rubbish :(
  17. Which dry cleaners is this? The one near the EDT or the one near the Post Office? Or the one near The Plough?

There is currently a sign outside the Grove saying it is a pub lease to let, or words to that effect?

Good luck with sorting it out, anyway. Things like that are always upsetting.

Normally when companies mess up they send an immediate email out as soon as they realise, explaining and apologising!

As pointed out on the other thread you started about this, the seller warned you of imperfections beforehand, so it really was up to you to check you were happy with the items before handing over your money. Had they said the items were in perfect condition, that would have been different. Sorry if that comes over as rude, and I'm sorry if you aren't happy with your purchase, but it isn't as if the faults could not have been seen beforehand.

Which and other reviews don't seem to think the Dyson cordless hoovers are junk! I agree Miele are good -I have had one in the past - but to the best of my knowledge they don't make cordless models.

  25. The latest Dyson cordless V10 is very expensive (relative to other cleaners) but has great reviews. I have been watching YouTube videos of it (sad I know) as I am thinking of biting the bullet and buying one. There are three versions of it, which seem to differ only in their colour (purple, gold or red) and the accessories they come with - which may be important to you depending on what you want to use the cleaner for, eg there is a dedicated head for hard floors. The stick part also comes off so you can use it as a hand-held cordless for cars etc, though I guess most of them must do that. ETA: I'd be a bit wary of clicking on the link in the post above, this person has only just joined the forum and made two posts, both about vacuum cleaners ..... profuse apologies if the two posts are from a genuine poster.
