I've never even noticed the noise, so I suppose it must be quite quiet!

Forest Hill Road Surgery - again.

That's why I said "having checked they cover your address". It's very easy. I did it last year. I moved from DMC to a practice in Herne Hill, having first checked I was in their catchment area. -
Forest Hill Road Surgery - again.

It is really really easy to change GP. You just go to the new practice of your choice (having checked they cover your address) with your NHS number and proof of address. And fill in a form. That's it, so far as I recall. -
If a tree falls in Dulwich Park does it make a sound...?
Sue replied to maxxi's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Crikey, I thought all old trees were supposed to be checked for safety? That's really worrying. Suppose it had fallen on somebody? -
It wasn't Londis for long though was it? It was a seven eleven in the early nineties (I think) and something else after that? Similar type of shop though.

I have had a number of poor experiences with John Lewis over the years. And apparently they have recently introduced a new call centre, but unfortunately there is some major issue with communication between this and other parts of the organisation. I imagine this accounts for its low rating on Trust Pilot. A friend of mine has just had a horrendous experience with a JL order, with one cock up after another. Oh, and high ratings .... Probably a bit like eBay where however crap the product or service they will offer you the moon if you don't give them one star. So it's all completely meaningless, basically :(

There was a notice on there on Saturday saying they were closing on Sunday (something like unexpectedly, or unforeseen circumstances) and sorry for the short notice. So looks like they had to close down even earlier than planned :(

Surely there is much more obstruction caused by people stopping to chat in ridiculous places (like right outside a shop entrance or on narrow parts of the pavement) or people with buggies walking side by side than by a few A boards placed on shops' own land?

Ha ha, no it was supposed to be a toasted club sandwich. Reuben salt beef. It was appalling. Don't have it. In fact, don't eat there. I should have known better, but the grandkids were starving and it was the nearest place to where we were. We sent them back (sandwiches not grandkids) to be actually toasted, and when they arrived for the second time they were slightly more toasted on the top (not the bottom, which was still completely untoasted) and the chips were cold. The filling was crap too. Couldn't be arsed to do anything more about it. Felt sorry for the barwoman, who was lovely. Grandkids enjoyed their meal which was lucky as their only choices (as vegans) from the kids' menu were tomato soup (sweet and tasted like Heinz) and pasta with tomato sauce. Oh and these travesties of toasted sandwiches were over eight quid each, grrrrrr.

I don't understand. The OP's son was ripped off by a barber, irrespective of whether another poster wasn't. Yet some people seem to be suggesting it isn't OK to say so on here? Have I got that right? We must all keep quiet about any bad experience with a local business, and let others find out for themselves the hard way? Assuming someone isn't lying in order to do down a competitor (the crushed and devalued thing) or just out of spite, I would have thought a local forum was exactly the place to share good and bad experiences of local businesses. Now, about the crap lunch I had at The Plough the other day .....

Apparently a new vegan junk food delivery is coming to ED
Sue replied to wayne10's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The vegan cheese I have tried tastes nothing like non vegan cheese, but hey ho. I am teetering on the brink. Still eat meat (rarely at home), still eat eggs, still eat dairy. Sorry, off topic :( -

My grandkids are vegan. They love vegan burgers, and I wouldn't describe them as junk food (depending what is in them, obviously). They aren't full of fat, for a start. -

I am pretty sure Royal Mail (and prior to that the Post Office) has always set the price of stamps, obviously taking into account the money the government required it to raise. -
My laptop has always had Windows 10. The problem with the scanner arose after an update some months back.

Not only was it standing on its own feet, it was subsidising other things. ETA: But it wasn't Thatcher who set the price of stamps. -
In case anyone else is having similar problems to me,I have now (at last) completely solved it. Purely by persistence, however. Epson have apparently just put new drivers for my model onto their website (or at least the exe file has a different name now) and it all works fine now including the scanner. Not sure whether to be aggrieved it took them so long, or relieved they now have. Relieved, on balance, I think!
