The bloke collapsing in DKH Sainsbury's this afternoon...
Sue replied to rendelharris's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Crikey, just seen this, glad you are OK rendelharris xx -
The actual experience with the insurance company was fine. I had cracks in the back half of the house. I reported them to the insurance company, they sent out a surveyor and monitored the cracks for some time, I can't remember how long. There was some issue with drains, which was sorted, and the whole thing was signed off. They didn't call it subsidence, they called it something else, I can't remember what off hand. However now if I want to get a quote from another insurance company I can't because as soon as this is mentioned they go no further (on or offline) despite the fact that there have been no further problems for something like fifteen years now. Can't remember exactly. I am now on a different policy but it's with a company associated with the original one, can't remember exactly and all the paperwork is in the loft, sorry! But I have thought at various times I would have been better off in the long run not involving the insurance company at all and paying for the work myself. But then as I said above that would involve not being truthful when getting quotes from elsewhere, and apart from the moral aspect I suspect that it would be easy to find out if work had been done. Plus I try not to lie so I'm not sure I could do it :(

They aren't in a great location compared to the other similar restaurants further down Lordship Lane, I think. I thought their food was quite good but I haven't been there since the alcohol ban and I'm sorry but not surprised if they have closed. But good for them for sticking to their principles.

Yep.

Even if you didn't inform your insurance company, if you wanted to change insurers you would be asked if there had been subsidence I think, particularly given the postcode. If you said no and then they found out you had lied, the outcome would probably not be great :( ETA: I went through my insurance company and tbh wished I hadn't, until the above occurred to me ....

These issues have all been discussed on this forum ad nauseam last year. Why are we all still here going over and over and over the same ground (pun not intended)?

Don't know the average, but it hasn't been too bad when I've been there lately. Whereas I've recently sometimes had to wait a long time at the sorting office. But I realise my limited personal experience has no statistical validity whatsoever :))

Bonkers! Drones I can understand, at least you're not likely to trip over them unless something goes horribly wrong, but things that look like vacuum cleaners clogging up the streets?! Maybe they need the minders to ring the doorbell (taking it in turns, presumably), given that the robot doesn't appear to have any arms :))

Has that announcement > helped anyone, ever? Who needs reminding of that? > They may as well have an announcement of 'please > do not forget to breathe whilst leaving the > train.' To be fair, though, lots of things get left on trains and buses. So that may reduce the number slightly.

But if it's a robot, what's the point in having a minder, let alone two? Is this just a settling-in thing?

People who stand waiting for the traffic to stop as you arrive at a crossing, although none of them have actually pushed the bloody button.

And admittedly I haven't been to France for about thirty years so am rather out of touch with French cooking :))

Really looking forward to trying it.

If you love someone why wait 364 days to tell them? I think Valentine's Day is quite sweet though. I got a lovely card of a cat sitting on a bird table, and I sent my OH an ecard of some dogs. We didn't actually meet up on the day ..... Each to their own, eh? And if you didn't get a card, well, better to be by yourself than with someone you feel trapped in a relationship with, eh? I hasten to say I am not speaking for myself, I am very happy with my OH :)

I like the way you get a choice between two pieces of cheese or, er, two pieces of cheese :)

Hey, great idea. My front path is definitely a nature corridor, it has weeds aka wild flowers at the side of it. And my front garden is deffo a park! It has plants in. And parks have plants in! :) And it's definitely national, because it's in a nation.
