Pathetically soft sentences. I wouldn't steal mobiles if I thought I might get two years inside, would you? I'm not diminishing (wrong word but can't think of the right one) the crime, but it's hardly murder.
  2. I don't necessarily want "good", (ETA: Though I see I did say "good" above!) I just want something that is browned (and by being in an oven, not by being brushed with some weird colouring) and crispy, or even just crispy in parts. Even something that has been deep fried to turn it crispy would be preferable (to me, anyway) to a pale white thing which is scarcely more than boiled :( Thanks for the suggestions, people.
  3. I had an absolutely delicious Sunday roast yesterday. Good portion of tender beef cooked medium rare as ordered, nice gravy, properly cooked veg, etc, EXCEPT the "roast" potatoes were rubbish - scarcely past the parboiled stage and almost completely white, with no crispy bits at all. The last time I had a roast out (at a different place) , the same thing happened, but in that case I sort of expected it - in this case I didn't (and certainly not for nearly sixteen quid :( ) As the meal was mostly very good, including a very delicious pudding, I don't want to name the place. Can anybody recommend anywhere locally where the Sunday roast has consistently good roast potatoes? And preferably where you don't have to book, as usually it's a spur of the moment thing? And yes I did mention it to the waitress, but I've no idea whether it was fed back to the chef (who must surely have known???) I wonder whether it was because it was relatively early (around 1pm) and if we'd been later the potatoes would have been in the oven longer??
  4. Maybe the best people to advise would be those who have actually managed to stay together for years?
  5. How are we supposed to play Pokemon Go !!!!
  6. Well said rendelharris.

It Just seemed so strange > to me, a garden centre at xmas?... Most people aren't going to be gardening in December, so if garden centres want to stay open all year they have got to make their money somehow apart from Christmas trees, I guess. Though personally I find the type of non-plant related things most garden centres sell quite horrendous. Maybe I go to the wrong ones.

I am well aware of how to indicate at roundabouts, thanks. I am talking about a specific issue with this one where indicating could cause confusion to following cars.

By the time you had indicated to turn left at it, you would have already turned!
  10. Walk from Kew to Richmond along the river? There's a nice riverside pub in Richmond (though will probably be rammed). In fact I think there are two, but I've only been in the older one. Also some little pubs just up from the river, including one on Richmond Green. Plenty of houses to nose in windows, if that's your scene, and the riverside walk is quite leafy. ETA: There's also a pub at the Kew end of the walk - you could start in Richmond and go the other way if you wanted to end up at that one. If you wanted a longer walk, you could walk up to Twickenham - if the ferry is running there's a nice pub on that side of the river. At least, it's nice in the Summer, never been there in the Winter!
  11. Banstead? Old Coulsdon?

Yes, but the point is that there are two roads very close together so it is not obvious which one a car is turning left into.

Interesting. I'm not entirely sure about that in this case - I'd be interested to know what other people think.
  14. Or Peckham Rye Park then Clock House or Ivy House depending on which end of the park you finish up?
  15. Re signalling at the roundabout, if you want to turn left towards the station, there is another road on the left immediately before the main road (the one with the estate agent on the corner), so signalling left could be confusing to others. I'm never sure quite what to do there, tbh. Normally I would signal left as soon as I was past a point where there couldn't be confusion, but there is no space/time to do it in this case.
  16. The OP was nearly two years ago, so I imagine it's all been done by now!
  17. Don't know whether if was a BMW but some large shiny black car went through the red at a very high speed on the pedestrian crossing just past the top end of Underhill Road recently (near the Horniman) and I literally had to jump out of its way as I was already crossing. Shouting at it was pretty useless as by then it was well gone :(
  18. The people who look after Peckham Rye Park. It's always a pleasure to walk through there. And the cheery Big Issue seller who is usually outside the larger hospice shop on a Saturday and tells you all about what's in the latest issue of the mag.
  19. We may be able to do 9th.
  20. The BBC Food site has lots of good recipes, including a brownie with salted caramel inside it which I intend to try out!

I know this is a serious issue, and I hope you can resolve it (I too would suggest the Southwark Noise Control route) but I did have to laugh when you said you were "all ears" ....

How ridiculous. Are you suggesting I respond to your posts without reading them? You do seem to post a lot of things I don't agree with, but I'm disagreeing with the content of your posts. It is not personal. Why do you need to turn it into something about you?
